Glad to be of help!! Yeah for sure, the school parts felt less impactful, and it got repetitive with the FL trying to convince the ML to go back to school >< If you are still watching, my last advice would just be to stop where it feels "happy" HAHAHA and take it as a happy ending. (Not that the last episode of this drama was not a happy ending, but it is just not worth it watching up to that point because the last 5+ episodes went downhill).

If anything, I thought that them being together and still keeping contact would keep him motivated, even if they couldnt physically study together, for example, they could have done it via a video call, just like what she did with the other study group peeps. But definitely, more pings on that phone app would have definitely been appreciated too, almost like a bare minimum, to show that she is thinking of him.

Same here, it started off really strong, but pacing fell off towards the end and it was so rushed and was not satisfying at all. The turning point was really when they parted ways.. oh well, on to the next drama I guess :(

I liked the start of cdrama when 2 opposite misunderstood teens meet and slowly open up to understand each other…
I doubt you'll need to pick it back up. At most you could watch until the part where they celebrate chinese new year together, those scenes were cute. But just stop right there and don't bother moving forward hahaha there's no point really.

Yeah! The father may have told XW to cut off contact with QY, but he didn't exactly say that to QY. So in this case if XW actually initiated cutting off contact I could "somewhat" get it but still! Even he says that he wants to leave the decision and freedom of choice to QY so it wouldn't have made sense either. I simply cannot rationalise why QY cut off contact so that's really ruining my immersion and enjoyment of the drama.

Glad to know there's an overall consensus regarding this. I was lowkey still expecting there might be an actual debate and discussion.

Right... I am utterly confused. I haven't finished the drama, can't bring myself to sit through 1.5h knowing that I am already "over" this drama ugh :/

For sure, I thought maybe it was gonna be 36 episodes long and was hoping at least 5 episodes would be in their university life at least but alas....

Can we have a discussion regarding FL cutting off contact with ML? I would like to hear some opinions please
I did not like that she did that. It wasnt a toxic relationship, and they were mostly good influences to each other with their studies too. It wasnt like one was so obsessed with the other to the point where studies were compromised.

The drama would have went better if they kept in contact at least, even if they had to go to different universities.

Like what was the reason for cutting off contact? To become a better version of themselves the next time they meet? What?

I would have loved to see them continue to grow together and be each other's strength.

And she just told him to reach her level and go to where she was, while she went on with her privileged life? Huh

This kind of ruined the momentum for me and the last arc of this drama felt like we were speed running things and plot point after plot point was thrown in. It felt rushed. It lost the charm it had in the first half. Im at ep28 and I just "want to get this over with" rather than "i genuinely want to see more of the drama" :/

Im so sad because i really enjoyed this drama when i started it

I have a question here 🤔 if they love each other why did they cut ✂️ each other off completely 🤔 😕?I'm…
I also did not appreciate her cutting off contact. There was absolutely no reason to unless if it was a toxic relationship. And when she went back to visit it felt like she had not kept in contact with aunt and grandma (granted she passed) too which was very unlike the sad farewell we saw when she left with her dad. I was looking forward to watching them enter university together and have a campus romance... her asking him to "reach her" while she goes on with her privileged life also did not sit well with me.

I started this with no expectations - just wanted to find something to watch to pass time. Holymoly. Colour me surprised. I am hooked!!! That's rich coming from someone who stays far away from slice of life dramas (to clarify, I did not know this was one when I started episode 1).

This drama feels so soothing and healing to the soul to watch. Very wholesome and relaxing, like watching normal people lead normal, earnest lives to the fullest within their own means, and helping each other out when possible.

Nothing overly dramatic, and forcefully dramatised for the sake of "the plot". It feels very natural. The characters, their relationships with each other, and the way they react to each other and to different situations also tie in very well and is very cohesive, making this drama all the more believable and easy to watch. Nothing sticks out like a sore thumb per se.

So happy I found this!!!

Does anybody else feel that there’s not much of a spark between the leads? I think Gu Jin Zhao has a more interesting…
If the 2ML is a raft drifting along in deep waters, shifting erratically with the currents, ML feels more like a yacht sailing smoothly with direction and intent.

I don't have 2ML syndrome at all because of the violent and rash nature of his character. I get he has a past and I feel for him, but he's too immature (at the point in the drama you are at) and not a good fit for the steadfast and headstrong nature of the FL. He has character depth in the sense where he is not a devil incarnate through and through, he is tough and harsh on the outside because of his difficult childhood. I get it. And I see that he always comes to help the FL and never hesitates. But it's the way he deeply wants what he wants, and if he cannot have it, he lashes out. He helps the FL expecting a certain level of gratitude or behaviour towards him, but when he does not get that he lashes out (phyiscally/verbally) at her. This, I absolutely cannot tolerate in someone and it feels so tiring to have someone like this in my life. It will take a saint of a FL imo to go through the "I can fix him" route. But in this case when you have such a potential that is ML lingering around, there is simply no point putting yourself through that torture.

In contrast, I feel the ML is layered in a more collected and holistic way - he is firm, smart and calculative in his career and overarching life. He makes decisions that almost always ends up killing two or more birds with one stone. You see how put together he is. But when it comes to the FL, you see him fumble more, second guess what is the next best action to take, to the point his subordinates also look at him with confusion because they've never seen him this way. He definitely will seem flat and more boring if he were to know exactly what to do in his relationship with the FL lol.

I actually quite like the chemistry between the FL and ML, the way the ML looks at FL, his gaze turns from one of intrigue and curiosity to admiration and attraction really well imo. He treats her like an equal, hears her out, helps her but never oversteps, offers support and suggestions but does not pressure her to take them. He leaves her with a lot of agency. And all of this is what I adore about this couple. These two will be a very memorable cdrama couple for me, personally.

But also, it could just be preference. Perhaps I've just grown out of the turbulent types of couple relationships and prefer one that is more grounded and equal, less "drama" LOL

For what's worth, at least the drama gave us a good run for the first 30+ episodes. That ending, while abrupt as hell, still gave us firm indications of a HE for our leads and a BE for the villains. Would have been nice to see the aftermath or at least some additional sweet moments of our main couple seeing as how they had so much of that sweetness in previous episodes. But oh well!!!

Still really enjoyed this drama though and I feel it built itself up well enough and made us root for/curse the characters, which in turn did not make that lacklustre ending feel like it was a complete waste of time for viewers, yk?

I would still recommend this drama to others, but give them a big fat warning that if they don't like abrupt endings (I emphasise, ABRUPT ending, not OPEN ENDED ending) then they shouldn't watch this or just watch up to the point the main couple gets married and has their cute moments haha

Just finished episode 19, I really do not have 2ML syndrome at all. YX's attitude and behaviour to the FL during multiple occasions was just NOT IT. And while I do understand deep down he is a softie and he is acting out the way he is because of his childhood, I simply just cannot get behind this guy and seeing him matched with the FL haha. CYY all the way!!!!

I was so hyped to watch VOS, expecting similar types of character bonds like that of FOF, but... it fell flat to me. Cinematics and visuals in there are still as good as FOF though, but plot was comparably more convoluted. Visuals alone cannot convince me to use my free time to finish VOS. But I guess I should rewatch FOF again... :')

this is mainly a love or romance-focused story, so the emphasis is on romance, and we get to see the strong romantic…
For sure, and I do love watching lovey dovey couples and romantic dramas. Unfortunately I just could not feel a very natural romantic progression in here. The relationship progression between Jilu felt better to me than Wuwu though.
