It would have make sense if he was returning after a long break, but yeah, too many in a single drama. I agree, it won't make sense either if one hasn't watched the other shows, or remembers them.
50-50? It's hard to say, I'm not familiar how popular the pairings are in Korea. But his works with Kim Ji Eun and Lee Chung Ah were popular. It was also brilliant how they solved having two pairings for him--one present, one past. I wouldn't even think of that solution.
I hope the story is good. I mean, if we look at Hotel del Luna, while they wrote it for the actress, they still were able to create a memorable story.
It looks like they're going to spend a lot of time about his past so they can pair him with Lee Chung Ah (Awaken)…
Yeah, I think it will happen in ep 15 or 16. From the looks of it, whatever happened to his late "girlfriend" (at least we're assuming they were a thing back then), it changed him.
With the revelation in this episode, it's as if his new life is his way of paying her back. Maybe out of respect (she was an honest lawyer stuck in working for a firm who protect even criminals); or something happened which led to her death.
Hmm… could it be that he won the case and later someone discovered she was some involved or learned how she truly felt about the client she tried to defend? Which led to her death?
I mean he is the "main" main lead so the obvious focus would be on him.
I think you missed the point.
A good example is Hotel del Luna. It was written for IU / Lee Ji Eun. The story was written around her specifically. The story and other characters were secondary. They literally wanted her to wear a plethora of fashion. The focus was on IU not because she was the "'main' main lead" rather it was because they wrote it for the actor herself.
One Dollar Lawyer is no different. The story was written for the actor. To make him shine.
It differs from a story that was written for the character, or the message the writer wants to convey, regardless of who the actors are.
Example, Café Minamdang. While Seo In Guk was the "'main' main lead" the series did not focus on him nor revolved around him. The story was about a series of murders and how different characters apparently are actually connected to each other.
That was what I was trying to convey. Not because an actor is playing a "'main' main lead' role does it mean the story is about the actor. Hotel del Luna and One Dollar Lawyer are both obviously about the actors, to make them shine, to show their talents in acting. The story is only secondary, to make people watch.
Ahn Hee Yeon and her husband, are resting on the porch of their house on some island in the Philippines. Hee Yeon checked her phone and saw a photo of her three daughters. She was satisfied when she saw In Hye with Hyo Rin.
She searched her phone for a dress she saw a few weeks ago and sent it in their family chat, “will this look good on In Hye?”
She looked up from her phone.
“How are our daughters doing?” Her husband asked.
“Amazingly great.”
They continued to watch the sun as it sets behind four tall trees with beautiful blue flowers leeching off its nutrients.
Bonus option: Scene: prison, Oh In Joo and Jin Hwa Young talking.
Jin Hwa Young: They have a gardening program here. Oh In Joo: *smiles* really? Jin Hwa Young: When are you going to join me? I'll wait for you here, okay? Oh In Joo: In two months. I'll save the other 3 months of my probation for later.
Option 1: Scene: green house preservation museum(?)
*In Hye recalled the question of Park Jae Sang if she is willing to sacrifice everything to take what she wants.*
*Once they reached the top of the platform, In Hye pushed Park Hyo Rin.*
*She got away with it because it appeared Park Hyo Rin committed suicide, and people assumed it also because of her medical history and how she's related to Won Sang Ah.*
Ep 06 was … really? Seriously? They're going down that plot? But still I was happy to see Jamie Leighton back…
It looks like they're going to spend a lot of time about his past so they can pair him with Lee Chung Ah (Awaken) again. They even hinted a love interest between them.
Then they'll go back to the present and continue his pairing with Kim Ji Eun (The Veil).
Maybe they are also experimenting if this formula works? Previous FLs separated in two time periods? You have an ML that probably can't get over with his late girlfriend, and the new one will help him "open his heart"?
So basically:Seung Cheon is now on his third and final chance.1st time/chance: 30 days (he switched)2nd time/chance:…
I can't remember which minutes but there are other clues.
1. When he chose to return to his original parents, the old lady said, "I will see you in 1 year".
2. Then in episode 6, after he received the money from fake Yeo Jin, a few scenes after that Ju Hee was with their friends and they talked about how they were a year ago.
3. Also, fake Yeo jin calculated that he will see the old lady again soon, and she needs him to want to switch again. (see #1)
4. The Golden Spoon. There are three chances: 30 days, 12 months; 10 years.
- 30 days was episode 1 to 4.
- 12 months was when he returned to his original parents (episode 5 to 6 - when his real father was hospitalized up to when he took back the Golden Spoon from fake Yeo Jin.
- 10 years started when he switched with Tae Yeong again (episode 6, after Ju Hee's father died)
(Sometime between episode 10-12 we'll probably see another time jump, this time to 2022 or 2023.)
So basically:Seung Cheon is now on his third and final chance.1st time/chance: 30 days (he switched)2nd time/chance:…
Yep. At least as per episode 6, it turns out that the second chance (the 12 months / 1 year) was actually spent when he chose to return.
Initially I understood it as "switching" only. But when the fake Yeo Jin was able to calculate when Seung Cheon will see the old lady again + when she said "I did not expect him to choose to return" (paraphrased), Yeo Jin understood that Seung Cheon "wasted" his second chance (the 12 months / 1 year) by returning.
So now, he just spent his 3rd chance, the 10 years one. By 2022/2023 it will be his final decision to return or stay as Tae Yeong.
It would have make sense if he was returning after a long break, but yeah, too many in a single drama. I agree, it won't make sense either if one hasn't watched the other shows, or remembers them.

Interesting twists. Something to look forward to.

Either way, after episode 6, I think they wrote this show for Nam Koong Min. They want him to be paired with his previous partners.

1. First switch: SC became TY for 30 days - ep 1-4
2. Second switch: SC returned to his original family for 12 months - ep 5-6
3. Third switch: SC became TY again - this time it will be for 10 years - ep 7 onwards
If it was 2011 (I don't remember), then:
1. First switch: 2011 - for 30 days
2. Second switch: 2011 to 2012 - for 12 months
3. Third switch: 2012 to 2022 - for 10 years
