That's a very important question that no one seems to care to answer, if the parents knew that their daughter was dating a older guy while she was a minor and didn't stop them I don't even know with what face they are coming after him now tbh.

Grammatically speaking, when you say "an older woman" it doesn't mean She is a senior citizen, it simply implies that she is older than him, let that be slightly older by a few months or even years, it doesn't matter if he is 20, she is 21 she is considered "older" woman, it's simply a comparative form of the word.

now here it can also implies that she is "older" than his girlfriend if the girlfriend in question is younger in age, and the plot is about the contrast between their characters, so the age is also a form of comparing between the two....
