Not saying yes or no because I think it’s reductive. She has psychological issues because of her father abandoning…
Genuinely curious, why is her being possibly asexual reductive? It doesn't define her entire person but it can be an important contributive part to the way she thinks and behaves.
Episode 6 ruined this drama for me. I dont know if I will be able to continue watching. Like I'm so emotionally…
I think I'm with you regarding ep 6, the show kinda lost me with it. I haven't seen 7 to 9 but I will continue watching just to see this mess to its end. One thing I hate in storytelling is dumb choices that follow no logic and are randomly thrown there with nothing to support it and for no apparent reason other than for shock value. I welcome twists and unpredictable turn of events but I need them to still make sense and be convincing even if I don't agree with them. Ep 6 threw that bomb and while I, as a viwer, was having a crisis as to how it can be possible, characters were apathatic and just went with it and it's just so irksome to me. Another comment mentioned how some important points weren't always shown to us and it makes me wonder if this development would have been easier to digest if we were more privy to the innermost thoughts of these characters so we can better understand their reasoning and choices even if they are still terribly wrong and will only lead to disaster...
I guess they're running on a low budget and the episodes are short so there's only this much they can do to tell the story but even then they wasted time on scenes that served to absolutely nothing. It's like we're getting the main points of the plot but there's no progress or build up in between, like why is no one asking any question? How are they all so nonchalant and just going with whatever? And how come Ji-hoon has now a soft spot for Jae-woo? What was the turning point? They barely exchanged lines and none of it was meaningful or helped advance their relationship. I'm not even asking for an intricate time-travel plot à la Someday or One Day or anything, at least convince me there's something developping here >.< For now, the acting is the main saving grace and I'm willing to come back for it.
- Mieko is probably the character I understand the most despite her crazy idea and abnormal attachment to her…
Yes, I hope we'll get more of Makio's pov. I'm not sure I know what he's thinking or feeling but I can see how he can end up the one being hurt the most from this.
I just finished the first episode and the actor playing Jae-woo is really good! Thanks to him, I enjoyed what I saw a lot. And that lady running the dormitory looks like she knows something.
Still trying to wrap my head around what happened in ep6 and make sense of it lolok let's see...
- Mieko is probably the character I understand the most despite her crazy idea and abnormal attachment to her friends and their romantic life. She clearly has low self-esteem stemming from her father's abandonment and her neglecting mother. She found a family in Makio and Eiji and maybe her biggest fear right now is losing that/them. It's essential for her to protect them so that they stay together and what they have as a trio doesn't get ruined. Also, I could be wrong but I can't help reading her as aro/ace and maybe that adds to her sense of being "broken" and useless. She doesn't like men and has no interest in romantic relationships or getting married, so what's the purpose of her womanhood? By being overly involved and overprotective of Makio and Eiji's relationship, maybe she's compensating for all that she thinks she lacks and makes her worthless. It's twisted and insane but it's her idea of finding meaning in her life and a place to belong to. What's frustrating now is that no one around her seems able to understand and talk some sense into her and we're left screaming like no guys! this is not it lol
- Makio is so young and lacks life experience and tho he is honest and can be perceptive he's understandably not well equipped to face these difficult situations so he just goes with the flow. That convo with Eiji's father shook him and I'm under the impression he's convinced the father's opposition comes from his fear of what might happen to his son and not hatred so he just accepts it and does nothing about it? This is made worse by Eiji's indecisiveness and general absence of vision (?) or plan for his and their life. At 25-26, it's normal to still be a bit lost and trying to find your path, but he is the adult here and often times he doesn't feel or act like one. It's nuts that Mieko came up with that weird solution and they were like ok let's do it. Like you can't just accept it just because it comes from a place of kindness and you're grateful for her support. If not Makio, at least Eiji should know better and be the one to stop the ridiculous plan that won't solve anything and will make things even worse.
It can only go downhill from here and I'm so curious to see where all this will lead us.
The ending of ep6 has got to be the weirdest turn of events I've seen in a long long while. I've never been this confused, I honestly don't know what to think...
Ep 1 - 4 = 16/17Ep 5 - 6 = 19/20 Idk about past that, Hope it's helpful tho :]
It is, thank you! tbh I'm very aware of the age gap and that Eiji, despite being young himself, is still an adult. His friendship with these teenagers is sweet but romance will complicate things.
sorry can i ask you when did eiji said he wanted to be normal? which eps? ty
Shalmali already answered (thank you!) but yes it's at the start of ep 2 around 4-5 min when he got drunk and the waitress came to clean after the party.
Something about this drama feels different. It has an indie film vibe and at times it's as if it's not scripted and what we see is a glimpse into the real lives of these people and not characters. I especially like the scenes at the end of every episode, like candid shots, nothing is necessarily happening, just our characters existing. It's the opposite of a cliffhanger, it leads me gently to the end and fills me with calm. I guess we'll get more of Makio's pov later but for now I feel for both Mieko and Eiji (when Eiji said he wanted to be normal, when Mieko pondered about them eventually drifting apart and away one day, damn!). There's an undercurrent of sadness as we learn of their wounds and struggles but it's not too depressing (yet?), it's well balanced and I like it.
All my love @Furritsu enjoying this gem wouldn't have been possible without you ♡
This one is off to a good start and I'm liking it. Our main characters seem all interesting, each in their own way and together they have nice dynamics. I might be off the mark but I feel like Mieko is more comfortable with friendship and platonic relationships. It could be her bad experience with her ex or maybe that's just who she is. Anyway, looking forward to how things will be with our trio.
For now, the acting is the main saving grace and I'm willing to come back for it.

I will be bracing myself then
