Off topic, but has anyone heard or seen this 2020 Japanese BL movie - Beneath the Shadow? https://mydramalist.com/32205-shadowIt…
It's a quiet movie, aesthetic and very slow paced. I thought it was nice tho a bit confusing towards the end because a key element wasn't translated and I was left like ??? It's more of an art house film so it's not to everyon's taste. I personally prefer Rage, another movie of Ayano's where he also plays a gay man. It's violent and raw and not easy to watch but really good.

Someone suggested Sunday the 14th, since we're doing a watchparty for the CM Valentine's Special that day anyway!
This sounds great!! *excitement intensifies*

btw, is MDL misleading? i read everywhere that CM is Akaso's first solo lead, so he's the only main role here..as…
Oh I know that, I meant here in MDL he's listed as main role because he's part of the main cast but the actual lead is Akaso for sure which is why he's listed first.

What if he reincarnated as a man like it happened in one of the chinese version endings? Is their connection beyond gender or is it affected by the bodies they inhabit?

This is one of the interesting theories I keep seeing but what would be the ending be like? Bong-hwan/the queen stays with the king and going back to the body in modern time no longer matters?

Title Mr. Queen
My version of happy ending is the king and bong hwan's souls ending up together, i don't care in which world.…
This would be really nice tho sort of sad and unfair if you consider the queen's perspective : she lost control over her life and body, even her soul is nowhere to be found. I also think it's too bold for a mainstream kdrama. You can tell the show is playing it safe by having Bong-hwan blame any romantic feeling on So-yong's memory and heart so it looks like it's not really him liking the king back.

I keep wondering, how do you guys define a "happy" ending? And by this, I mean what does it imply for :
- The comatose body of Bong-hwan in modern time and his soul.
- The original queen and her soul.
- The king who started to fall in love only after Bong-hwan's soul inhabited her body.

I don't know what to think. But the king fell in love with the new version of the queen, if bong hwan returns to…
I know, history says he dies first and his queen dies years after. Whether they follow history or not, I'm still curious how the drama will handle the soul/personality aspect, like will the king ever learn about the soul swap and will the show ever make it clear who loves who. I'm aware the drama is more on the silly side so I'm not expecting it to go in depth about these almost existential issues but I wish for it to make sense at least even if it's sad.

Title Mr. Queen Spoiler
From some spoiler videos, I'd think that the real Bonghwan is completely gone. But I hope i am mistaken.
What makes you think so? I even watched the preview for episode 14 and I'm sure Bong-hwan is still in the queen's body.

This story is complicated but one thing is clear and I agree with you : the king is in love with Bong-hwan's soul/personality. If Bong-hwan is gone, it will be sad for the king and it's also sad for So-yong because the king doesn't love the real her. I have no idea how they're gonna handle this.

Like our friend Coriander suggested, can we organise a group watch for this since we're sure to have subs?
Yay! Let's do it! ^_^

Yeah, I also think it's because MDL only has main and support categories and Machida's role is too important to be tagged as support. In this case, the order of names can be more indicative : Machida is obviously the senior actor here but Akaso is listed first because he's the actual main lead.
