There is a very thin line between love and obsession and Lee Dong Jin uses that line as his guide lol at least he is aware how unhealthy all of this is. I really love ep 7, it was so good. I feel like the problem with this drama is that it has too many filler scenes with 0 contribution to the story telling (there's so many examples like the random cases his friend had to deal with, what was the point of showing us that? The random scene of the store owner having an argument infront of him? The rant from the producer's boss who left his job?? The documentary style drive through across Seoul showing different landmarks when they were in the bus lol), and the pacing + the editing is weird with so many scenes repeating over and over when there's nothing to add, also the narrative storytelling is sometimes so confusing with no hints for the audience on how to interpret a scene like I was so lost when the random workout montage came up, like what's was the point of showing us that I don't know. The last few episodes have been good though, They probably could've made it an 8 episodes drama, and with good editing I feel like it would've been so so much better.

Ah ok I think she's done a good job in this one so far though. U should give this a go, the pacing is a little slow but I don't mind it because I like the style of storytelling where they show different point of views of the same events!!

one thing I didn't like about, was how they both were taking about themselves but it felt really detached as if they weren't talking about themselves but rather narrating a story. Their tone was kinda weird like how u sound when you're reading a story to someone so u always emphasize on the last words of each sentence? If you're getting my point.

What are u talking about? I can't say for her other shows since I haven't watched them but so far she's done a pretty good job in the two episodes of this drama I've watched. Her characters supposed to be quiet and detached yet lonely and miserable and she delivered that perfectly imo.

I think if it's really just a coincidence or if there is no actual explanation to why things like that happens to guys around her, the drama will actually be really boring, cuz I'm a firm believer of "once an accident, twice a coincidence, thrice is a pattern" like I need a plot twist so bad bcs I really wanna like this and honestly I would be fine with it being a normal romance where the leads would be poetically each other's salvation but they made such a big deal abt their being a reason to all of those incidents so there better be a good one.

I love this drama so so so much, just finished and straight up cried staring at the screen for half an hour. I just wished they'd shown me something abt park jeong jae at the end. His character was very dear to me. Honestly the acting was just terrific in this show. Everyone did such a good job.

I know right. We're at a point where defending a drama is more important than actual human lives under imminent threat of ethnic cleansing. Us humans sure have our priorities straight.

first of all I couldn't care less about what crimes the SU family committed according to the imperial law because those laws are fuck all and only exists to serve and facilitate the imperial family. Second Li Chuan was NOT a GOOD EMPEROR nor a GOOD BROTHER in the previous life, sure his time as the emperor fighting against the noble families and all his experiences has made him disillusioned but that was not an excuse for all the stuff he did. He loved qin zhenzhen and so would never allow Shanguan Ya a place in his heart while Shanguan Ya was forced to marry him and enter the palace with the burden of her family she had no other choice so she decided to have a child with Su Ronghua, now that was wrong but can it really be called cheating? No. Li Chuan never intended to give the Shanguan family any courtesy, he'd even ordered his uncle to be beheaded and he was already finding faults with the Su family leaving both the families no choice but to struggle for survival, then the Su family killed Qin Zhenzhen because they wanted to make Shanguan Ya's and Su Ronghua's child the crown prince. Pretty on brand for political struggles in a palace drama, and Li Chuan knew all of this, which obviously brought upon the downfall of the Su Family. But all of this was NOT perpetuated by Su Rongqing, it was a collective scheme plotted by both the families. Su Rongqing only later decided to join hands with Shanguan Ya to use Li Rongs influence to make Shanguan Ya's child the future emperor. Of course he knows what his family did but even so he's allowed to feel resentment towards the person who absolutely destroyed and exterminated his entire family. The decisions for all these schemes were probably made by a few elders at most? You do realize that the Su family probably had a lot of innocent family member and Li Chuan decided to exterminate the whole clan, tbh I've never been a fan of this ancient Chinese law where one person's mistake takes down entire generations of a family. Anyways even after Li Chuan did not stop he became more and more cruel and committed so many unjust atrocities, with Pei Wenxuan as his sword and opposing force against the noble families while Li Rong backed and pushed against Pei Wenxuan with the noble families. So there was a bit of a balance in the political structure. But towards his demise, Li Chuan knew Pei Wenxuan would never actually harm or dare to kill Li Rong to achieve his goals and enthrone Qin Zhenzhen's son because he loved Li Rong. But Li Rong had Su Rongqing, Shanguan Ya and the noble families who wouldn't hesitate to get rid of Pei Wenxuan to enthrone Shanguan Ya's son so he decided to kill Li Rong. The one who actually killed and poisoned Li Rong was Li Chuan and Su Rongqing and Shanguan Ya were simply bystanders to it because they knew what Li Chuan did but they didn't tell or immediately help Li Rong and decided to see how it played. That is why Su Rongqing always insisted everyone around to have that sachet it was not a poison but a remedy to delay that poison, Shanguan Ya and Su Rongqing did this because of their own secret of the child, but Li Rong never knew anything and at the last point Shanguan Ya asked Su Rongqing to take control of the princess mansion and get rid of Pei Wenxuan because Li Chuan at his time of death has already issued the order for Li Rongs death. And Su Rongqing decided to listen to her and standby as Li Rong died because only in this way could they successfully enthrone the child of the Shanguan and Su family. Now did Su Rongqing make mistakes? Yes. He was also forced to do inevitable things due to his circumstances. And even in the second life the reason he's so hell bent on going against Li Rong is because he doesn't want Li Chuan to ascend the throne, and it's not out of revenge, he just simply thinks that Li Chuan is not suitable to become the emperor and he's way too stubborn and ambitious, and because he will harm Li Rong in the future. Of course he would also rather have the things he wants, like protecting his family and getting to be with Li Rong but he understands that that is not possible so he's just doing what he thinks is right. So yes that is why his character is very interesting and complex to me and I sympathize with him. I am allowed to have my own opinions thank you.

guys why do I feel like SQ styling is on purpose like I'm not being biased or anything but his hair makes him look so bad like idk when I see him wearing the official's cap he looks so much better and now I just saw the promotional live stream and stuff and he looks really good in modern style, I was actually kinda shocked. I feel like this styling is really not suitable for him and it's doing his character kinda dirty ngl

umm people are overreacting way too much. Chill guys this drama is not an original story, it has a source material and so far it has stayed very true to it. As a novel reader I can tell you guys this is exactly how the story progresses, Su Rongqin is indeed the main villain of the story. And we won't get rid of him so easily and I can understand how frustrating the drama feels right now but let's not berate the director and actors needlessly. To be honest I like that a lot of the side characters do not just exist to supplement the main characters storyline and have their own motives and solid backgrounds. I don't like it when everyone else's characters purpose in a story is to just serve as a plot device for the main characters. This is also why I loved blood of youth, that drama had so many interesting characters and handled them all so well without taking away the limelight from the main characters. Su Rongqin is actually an incredibly complex and interesting character. And I sympathize with him alot. His desire to want to protect his family and also want to live for himself for once and be with Li Rong is perfectly understandable and wanting all of these things may seem like he's being selfish because you can't always have everything but aren't we all the same. Who would want to let go of a second chance where they know what they want without trying enough. But the way his character is handled makes him very unlikeable. He keeps deluding himself that his actions are to protect Li Rong when he just keeps getting in her way, he doesn't respect her choices and insists on becoming a thorn in the main characters' life and making things difficult for Pei Wenxuan. And that's annoying for us as audience because we are viewing him as the second male lead. But he's supposed to be like this because he is the villain. And for people saying Li Rong should choose and decide for once and distance himself from Su Rongqin. Are y'all blind she's done that ever since she asked Pei Wenxuan to wait for her, its him who wouldn't back off. Its been pretty obvious that Li Rong is a very hesitant and indecisive person when it comes to emotions because she's scared of being vulnerable and getting hurt but that's not the reason why she can't cut off Su Rongqin, in these last couple episodes she's been slowly coming to terms with having feelings for Pei Wenxuan, it's harder for her because of the events in the past life, as for Su Rongqin, she cares about him and doesn't want him to end up in the tragic predicament as the first life that is why she's so hesitant. She just simply wants everyone to stay safe and happy, now idk about y'all but her wanting that makes complete sense to me if you think about how her first life ended cuz almost all the characters were miserable in it. And Li Rong isn't just trying to change her own fate and life but is also trying to protect every one else which is also the reason why she's trying to change the political structure.

I hate the way that you walk. I hate the way you talk. I hate the way that you dress - me to Su Rongqin. He's probably my most hated second male lead ever. Man didn't have enough balls to be able to confront his own feelings and now he's acting like a ducking clown. And I think Xie Wie came out a bit in the ep24 preview LMAO??? The noncon bit, i absolutely detest like it's not necessary at all but they just had to go and ruin his characterization, pei wenxuan getting angry and storming off is more in character than forcing li Rong to ducking kiss him?? Are they forgetting they're supposed to be like 40 y/o and more mature? I love the both of them but ugh seriously. This is kind of frustrating.
