Yeah people on douban can be mean especially towarss linghe idk why? But whay i wanted to convey was that the use of ai was definitely not just limited to the opening, i think we're both annoying each other wuth the back and forth lol so let's not argue anymore. I just really dont like gen ai so im fixated on it with what repurcussive effects it brings to us. They were being lazy with the prodcution and its clear.

Not sure what feedback from chinese viewwers youve been reading because i was just on douban and the drama is not being very well received and it seems you're on stuck on the same monologue of cgi being used so its useless for me to say it again as i did in my other previous comment. I'm not sure about the screen writer but this was adapted from an original novel, in the cast you can see the writer credited as the writer for the original work.
Why do people get so triggered by criticism? Can understand if they really love the drama but you shouldnt be out reading comments if you can't stomach everyones opinion then. If you're loving it only because you love one of the actors then well i dont have to say anything.
Here are a few reasons i was disappointed by the drama. People who are thinking of watching the drama can consider these points and decide since i saw some people asking if it was worth watching.
Let me start with something good: the first episode was GOOD it build enough interest and momentum to make me want to watch more and find out everything.
But i fear it kinda went downhill from there IMO
1. The use of AI, using ai in itself is very disappointing when CGI exists, second they used it very badly and obviously. It's not just the intro either, they've used it in scenes like the one where the ML burns the flower field and we'll probably get more scenes with it.
2. The pacing IS BAD, theyd drag out an emotional beat for so long and then throw out so much information in a few scenes like????
3. The inconsistent writing? Both the ML and FL. They established that the ML does not like underhanded means and finds them distasteful when he was interrogating his fiancé's lover yet he stooped down so low as to assault the FL, when he so clearly has feelings for her and is probably trying to intimidate her. The Fl's supposed mission is so important that she'd go to such lengths to decieve the ML and then she just gives herself away so easily?
4. The camerawork, god it is bad, thats just it and the blaring ost coming on evertime they can squeeze it in. They sets looks very cheap which i can get behind but still you can tell.
So what i hate about this drama is the writing, production and direction. Not the actors? I was super excited for it, was waiting for it but it disappointed me thats the truth. I love watching Linghe's dramas and I'm sure both him and Wang Churan did their best with what was given to them but a drama isn't just the work of the actors, theyre just a part of it. It requires an entire cohesive team and direction.

The production value must've been shit like what the hell. They hyped it so much but the sets look so cheap. Only thing saving this is the face card also what's with the pacing? They're dragging out a single scene for aeons and then boom ready set done dun dun like?? And the male lead's writing is inconsistent they established his character as someone very practical, logical, cold but considerate with clear boundaries and then suddenly he's assaulting her?? Granted that he was probably in emotional turmoil with what was going on, still someone like that wouldn't just suddenly jump on to a woman who they still had affectionate feelings for?
This drama deserves more recognition just by the merit of all the amazing characters alone, the story is not ground breaking with insane plot twists but it's one that's very relatable, representing the reality and frustrations most common people face in their lives and the tyranny of the powerful this world is breaking under. Some parts can feel like they're dragging but overall it was a really enjoyable watch. I found myself waiting for every single character to reappear to see more of them!! And it didn't feel boring at all!

Well if you like bromance I recommend Mysterious Lotus Casebook (because I will always rec it haha no matter what)!! You could also watch Love Like the Galaxy, written by the same writer or Blossom (this one I haven't watched but everyone seems to have praises for it only, I'm gonna watch it as well in the future) which has the same director! Or Wonderland of Love, it's really good, both leads are military commanders and so fun, they're very tom and Jerry, love them so much or another is Destined, also really fun, I think the femal lead is kinda similar to Changyu in temperament hehe. I can give more but these are the ones that immediately come to my mind thinking of POJ
Guys I love this drama so much, like all of the characters from Changyu, Yan Zheng, Channing, Qianqian, Bao er, Gongsun, The Princess, The Butcher gang, The General buddies to Mr and Mrs Zhao, are so important to me, I love them all so much, even Qi Min and Sui Yangqing (because they're quite memorable characters, I would say I don't love them so much as I love the portrayal of their characters). I also genuinely love the nuance and insight the drama demonstrates on a lot of tricky topics like war, and it's collateral damage as well as how it potrayed that the actual villain was the greed for control and power everyone scrambles (which in most palace/political intrigue dramas is the case) but I really like how they showed the real enemy was a ghost haunting the narrative all along, which imo was the previous emperor! Qi Min wouldn't have suffered so much if His father would've been present to protect him, the state's affairs wouldn't have been that bad and the people wouldn't have to suffer so much if there was a better ruler, Wei Yan wouldn't have been forced to become a villain, Xie Zheng would have his parents, Changyu & Channing would have lived a more spoiled life with her parents still alive. So much of that suffering could have been avoided, like they showed in the alternate universe if the position of the emperor could have voluntarily been given up to someone sensible at the right time. I don't think I can give it anything other than a ten. Even though the drama has its flaws and objectively is not a 10, I don't mind being biased at all because I love it so much !! I reserve 10s for dramas that can collectively make me feel a lot of emotions and deliver a memorable set of characters and story, and in that regards the drama does really well. Anyways it was really fun and it's obviously going to be added to my favs rewatch list hehe. Will miss scrolling through this comment section.

It really depends on your preference tbh, I loved LLTG a lot but I love this wayy more, and the drama has its fair share of flaws, that kinda become apparent towards the latter half of the show, because the first arc takes like half of the drama and flows really well, and then they cover two more arcs in the second half so you can kind of understand that the pacing + editing was a little meh but to me that was ignorable because I've come to love these characters and the story so much so it kind of cancels out for me and towards the end the episodes are again turning banger sooo really depends. No matter what I think it's definitely worth the watch even if you might end up not liking it as much because it's definitely enjoyable in any case imo
