This drama deserves more recognition just by the merit of all the amazing characters alone, the story is not ground breaking with insane plot twists but it's one that's very relatable, representing the reality and frustrations most common people face in their lives and the tyranny of the powerful this world is breaking under. Some parts can feel like they're dragging but overall it was a really enjoyable watch. I found myself waiting for every single character to reappear to see more of them!! And it didn't feel boring at all!
It's over😞 bar is too high...guys recommend me some good drama which I can binge watch....
Well if you like bromance I recommend Mysterious Lotus Casebook (because I will always rec it haha no matter what)!! You could also watch Love Like the Galaxy, written by the same writer or Blossom (this one I haven't watched but everyone seems to have praises for it only, I'm gonna watch it as well in the future) which has the same director! Or Wonderland of Love, it's really good, both leads are military commanders and so fun, they're very tom and Jerry, love them so much or another is Destined, also really fun, I think the femal lead is kinda similar to Changyu in temperament hehe. I can give more but these are the ones that immediately come to my mind thinking of POJ
Guys I love this drama so much, like all of the characters from Changyu, Yan Zheng, Channing, Qianqian, Bao er, Gongsun, The Princess, The Butcher gang, The General buddies to Mr and Mrs Zhao, are so important to me, I love them all so much, even Qi Min and Sui Yangqing (because they're quite memorable characters, I would say I don't love them so much as I love the portrayal of their characters). I also genuinely love the nuance and insight the drama demonstrates on a lot of tricky topics like war, and it's collateral damage as well as how it potrayed that the actual villain was the greed for control and power everyone scrambles (which in most palace/political intrigue dramas is the case) but I really like how they showed the real enemy was a ghost haunting the narrative all along, which imo was the previous emperor! Qi Min wouldn't have suffered so much if His father would've been present to protect him, the state's affairs wouldn't have been that bad and the people wouldn't have to suffer so much if there was a better ruler, Wei Yan wouldn't have been forced to become a villain, Xie Zheng would have his parents, Changyu & Channing would have lived a more spoiled life with her parents still alive. So much of that suffering could have been avoided, like they showed in the alternate universe if the position of the emperor could have voluntarily been given up to someone sensible at the right time. I don't think I can give it anything other than a ten. Even though the drama has its flaws and objectively is not a 10, I don't mind being biased at all because I love it so much !! I reserve 10s for dramas that can collectively make me feel a lot of emotions and deliver a memorable set of characters and story, and in that regards the drama does really well. Anyways it was really fun and it's obviously going to be added to my favs rewatch list hehe. Will miss scrolling through this comment section.
ive hard someone say this is better than “love like the galaxy” and many others and my mom is watching Pursuit…
It really depends on your preference tbh, I loved LLTG a lot but I love this wayy more, and the drama has its fair share of flaws, that kinda become apparent towards the latter half of the show, because the first arc takes like half of the drama and flows really well, and then they cover two more arcs in the second half so you can kind of understand that the pacing + editing was a little meh but to me that was ignorable because I've come to love these characters and the story so much so it kind of cancels out for me and towards the end the episodes are again turning banger sooo really depends. No matter what I think it's definitely worth the watch even if you might end up not liking it as much because it's definitely enjoyable in any case imo
Here is a more objective explanation of the variety show issue.China is a very large country with 56 ethnic groups,…
Thankyou !! This helps so much, I don't like separating the art from the artist, so it's always hard for me to engage with media that has problematic people involved and I can never tolerate racism! I would have dropped watching any and all of his dramas, as I just found out about this, didn't know anything about the topic before coming here.
So the ML and the Villain have BOTH massacred a town. The FL loves the ML and tells him the massacre he did was…
I thought that his massacre was really kind of exaggeration by rumours and gossip among people when it was more of him decimating the militant forces of the enemy residing in the town? Because they made it sound like XZ was misunderstood.
I think one of the major problems is how she drugged and knocked out people without their consent, and went to…
I think in that scene at that moment Li Huaian's right hand guy did move to take a stand but then Changyu suddenly told him to take LH to protect him and he accepted it, which is why no one said anything and the soldiers also knew that both LH and General He viewed her as a trustworthy person plus Changyu also took responsibility to go in LH's stead so they decided to trust her. At least that's how I interpreted it, it's a little far fetched but like I said the drama is not perfect it has its flaws so somethings we just have to overlook.
This unrequited love of Mr Jin towards Changyu…wrap it up. I don’t even care about his heartbroken moments
It's not necessary but I find it so refreshing that he's not like usual characters who, for their own motives, start becoming a thorn in the lead's relationship, he knows his own feelings and he respects Changyu and her relationship with XZ and is always there to back her up against perceived bad intentions. It gives his character so much depth.
This drama has so many integral characters that the 2nd half of this drama ends up feeling like a completely new…
Also definitely agree with anticipation of their next scenes, some of the scenes that were integral to politics but without Changyu and XZ, I found myself wanting to skip or fast forward it lol even though they weren't boring I just felt so impatient haha. The scenes with the emperor are really funny tho, everyone is dissing him lol but he's so entertaining to watch haha

I agree I love the drama, and I adore Changyu so I don't mind that it's very much centered around her, but more of XZ, and them together would've been awesome in the latter part of the drama, and would have made it wayy better!
No he only has the Yanzhou army, the jinzhou army is under Li Huaian and Changyu collectively, if I'm not wrong after his return to Northwest from Linan, he got back the Yanzhou army under his command.
I think one of the major problems is how she drugged and knocked out people without their consent, and went to…
Yes! Of course that's a problem, it was wrong and I was annoyed by that too! But she's a human she's not perfect, so she can make mistakes, both times she did it she was trying to protect them, and she's already established as someone who acts impulsive when it concerns the safety of people she cares about so it's not out of character for her to do it in a moment of desperation and haste. It cannot be justified but her actions had understable reasons and atleast one of the times she did acknowledged that with Li Huaian. With XZ it kind of got lost because of their conflict when his identity was revealed, so I also wished that they'd talked about that.
I don't know why people get so frustrated with female centricity in stories, I understand the frustration but Changyu's character was already established as someone really strong from the get go, literally the first episode. She didn't just get to the battlefield, whipped out her blades and started defeating everyone, she WAS trained by her father in martial arts, someone who was also a famous and applauded general. This is explicitly mentioned in the show that she knows martial arts from her father but her parents had her take an oath to not use it unless absolutely necessary. And we see her hesitating on the battlefield as well she does not instantly become this lethal soldier, she learns and adapts. And both times when she kills the generals it's shown that the arrogance of the enemies is also at play, both of the generals thinks of her as weak because she's a woman, you can see in the scenes that she's not winning against them at first but then she slowly overpowers them after getting used to their moves, this is also demonstrated as something she utilizes when she spars against Xie Zheng. Now Xie Zheng's character is getting a bit underdeveloped, and I understand the frustration with that. The drama is not perfect, it has its flaws like any other, but I feel like people are being way too critical because their expectations went sky high as it got so popular, as has happened with any other drama.
Edit: Not to mention it's repeatedly implied that her physical constitution is also very very strong, better than most men even, so uh some people criticizing it for being realistic yeah haha I get that but at the end of the day this is fiction, there's bound to be unrealistic stuff? If we wanted realistic we could just go watch MMA fights lol. But hey everyone has a right to their opinionstill I just has this need to defend what has easily become one of my favourite dramas lol
