No, K has always been just a part of Sooyeol's personality. Sooyeol "created" K to protect himself from the trauma he's been through because of his dad and from Yunho. Then he was like "turned off" from Sooyeol's personality but woke up again ~20 years later (so basically now) so that Sooyeol can find the truth about his past. I hope i was clear enough! :)
