Hey! My name is Alki and I'm from Greece. This is my safe haven (and yes, the edit above is mine).
I'll start by saying I love watching k-dramas but my opinions are usually unpopular and my watch list is usually full of movies or shows that aren't all that viral. I would still enjoy the known genres but I grew out most of them as I prefer cop/detective shows and mystery or thriller categories (honestly, where are they?)
I'm an editor (both picture and video editor) though I do neither of those professionally. Plugging myself here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3LLD2oh5pM
ACTORS/ACTRESSES I ABSOLUTELY ADORE WITH EVERYTHING I HAVE.
Kim Kyungnam: First saw him in Come and Hug Me and after that, I watched every single k-drama of his except King: The Eternal Monarch since a) it's not my preferred genre, b) major second lead syndrome kept me away.
Hong Jonghyun: Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo was a rollercoaster to me. Mostly because I fell in love with the villain. FML. Then, I saw a different side of his as a gentle, soft second lead who actually won the girl at the end in The King in Love.
Lee Jooyoung: When it comes to Jooyoung, I really want to see her in more projects so she can truly shine. As opposed to most viewers, I didn't first see her in Itaewon Class (I haven't watched it yet) but in Times. It reminded me a lot of Signal and I would be lying if I said I didn't cry my eyes out like an adult woman stubbing her toe in a piece of furniture.
Jin Kijoo: Would you believe me I said I didn't even notice her existence in Moon Lovers but I ended up falling for her in Come and Hug Me? Give me anything with Kijoo and I will DEVOUR it.
Jung Hyesung: I saw her in Doubtful Victory and I still wonder how come she's underrated and why this freaking k-drama doesn't have more watchers??? Is it because it doesn't include big names??? They did an amazing job and the drama kept me on the edge of my seat, I love it so much. I really came to love her character and later on, I saw her in Manhole alongside Kim Jaejoong and for the first time, she made me feel a deep second lead syndrome but for a female second lead. Haven't felt that before. She's killing it!
Kamio Fuju: First saw him in Signal: Choki Mikaiketsu Jiken Sosahan (yes, I watched both the Japanese and Korean versions, sue me) and I immediately fell in love with his beauty and also acting. As I started watching some more of his dramas (including the vile drama that was Love and Fortune), I realized that this man REALLY loves his controversial roles and I'm here for it because everything he takes on is so revolutionary. Taboo roles, controversial roles, unique characters, you name them. He isn't afraid to star opposite much older female main leads or take the back seat opposite Mackenyu Arata. I truly admire him, WHY IS HE SO UNDERRATED?!
Haruma Miura: Honestly, he will forever remain my most favorite actor of all times. First saw him in Boku no Ita Jikan, later on in 14-sai no Haha (watch it, it's just as controversial and taboo) and then TWO WEEKS. It was after this that I realized Haruma Miura has passed away at the age of 30 back in 2020. He was a senior to many and great actors such as Satoh Takeru or Mackenyu Arata have been using him as an example and a role model. He has been acting since 1996 (the year I was born) and if you see his page, the man rarely took a break, it's crazy to me. I will forever love him with a passion and I've been often visiting his IG page on his birthday every year, posting messages to him. He's a safe haven. I STILL FEEL SO EMBARRASSED WATCHING HIS SEX SCENES IN DYING EYE!
Satoh Takeru: I saw him acting alongside Haruma Miura in Bloody Monday and I immediately knew I had to check him out. He just had this look in his eyes that told me he is an amazing actor, I don't know how to explain it. And I was so right. I'm in the beginning of Bitter Blood just loving him as both First Love: Hatsukoi and Koi wa Tsuzuku yo Doko Made mo made me lie in bed, kicking my feet in the air like a high schooler waiting for prom.
Narimiya Hiroki: I swear, Bloody Monday just made me love all actors.... but him? Especially him. You have no idea how pissed I was that I couldn't find Aibou with english subtitles. I absolutely adored his aloof character in Gokusen and later on watched him in Ima Ai ni Yukimasu and 37.5°C no Namida. He truly makes an incredible father in his roles, not gonna lie. I was devastated to read that he left the entertainment industry as he was framed for illegal narcotics that was later proven to be a lie, yet the damage was done.
Yangyang (not the k-pop idol): Honestly, haven't seen his dramas but I will be honest with you, I've been dying to. I've been watching videos on TikTok and I can see that he quickly became a favorite of mine. I've been seeing him around the lot and it truly seems like that whichever drama he's in alongside the lead actresses, it tends to be a full on success! Yangyang and Zhu Xudan when!?
Huang Zitao: He's not a favorite actor for many people. Others look down on him because he was an idol and now a soloist. Honestly, The Brightest Star in the Sky is my favorite c-drama of all times. The story was great, his character was so unique, the chemistry with Janice Wu was otherwordly. It stayed with me even now. Easily could watch it twice and thrice. There's a reason it scored 8.2 amongst 10.000+ users. Legally Romance was another one I absolutely adored though I just have to finish it.
Zhang BinBin: Biggest second lead syndrome in a c-drama. Pretty Li Hui Zhen. It started there. And then, I couldn't stop loving him. Watched The King's Woman since I was curious to see if he has a happy ending with beloved Dilraba Dilmurat. HA.
Zhu Xudan: She was a support role in Negotiator and that's where I got to know her from. Later on, I was addicted to Cute Programmer and then Miss The Dragon solidified my love for her (though I adored Dylan Wang with her, the drama was wonky). She's breathtaking, she's such a wonderful actress. Even Kim Heechul posted her on his IG. And guess what?? HE EVEN MET HER. Okay, but like...where do I get to be like Kim Heechul, meeting my idols, huh???
MY FAVORITE DRAMAS OF ALL TIMES!
