I watched The Old Guard 1 last night. It was a great action movie. Looking forward to watching 2 soon. Anyway, I kind of understand what you wrote. But I guess historical C-drama are many based on actual events, that's why they all come out something similar. Story of palace politics, wars, political marriage, wars among concubines and its backup, game of throne grabbing and so one. Therefore, these are the dramas currently popular among C-viewers, so it may continue as long as there are demands from its people.

BTW, I am a fan of C-drama, especially historical dramas. Bcoz they are something out of this modern world. I know many has flaws but I am so used to them 😂 If it's fiction, I recommend ' Three body' and ' Ripe Town'. These are very unique C-drama and entertaining. I don't know if they are Oscar worthy but I like them very much!

So I took a day off from Asian dramas to watch The Sandman 2 and The old guard 2, in one day. They were both amazing but Sandman really stood out for me as it was a fantasy genre and watching it I kept thinking like what if cdramas were like this. My point is the complaints about the script and everything else has me snorting. Cdramas still has a long way to go with perfect scripts, perfect direction, and better yet, perfect actors. It’s not like we’re looking at Oscar winning dramas over here. We all knew what we were getting into once we’ve delved into the world of cdramas. There have been a few that I would deem
Oscar worthy but that’s just my opinion. My point is that all your complaints are futile. From my experience with Cdramas, they are not perfect, they will always follow the same storyline, the same trope, repeatedly. You just pick something that comes close to your expectations and roll with it. If your expectations are more than that then good luck. While watching The Sandman, all I could think of was why can’t cdramas be this good? They’ve got so much potential but I think there’s still a long way to go before it gets there. So enjoy what you’re watching now with no expectations and enjoy it or move along to a different drama as I’ve always done. This way you won’t be disappointed. I still love my cdramas and will continue watching them including this because LX is such a brilliant actor that makes every minute discrepancy disappear into thin air. The force is definitely strong with him. Peace ✌️I do have to say though that Charlize Theron could have taken sword lessons from our cdrama, action directors 😂

This is really good. Intense suspense most of the time, and I never know what will happen. great actors too. Can’t remember seeing Gao Han as a villain before

Post watching 21st episode ..i feel she is pretending to be amnesiac. Her behavior during dinner time where she served beef seasoned with cumin , Also it seemed not innocous that she showcased her hand where the flower mark shows up..i feel she was hinting to him about 3rd prince's involvement .. rest all , i think , montages of memories she seem to think of ..is just director messing with us , making us belive may be she is amnesiac.. the fact she asked to be taken to 3rd prince incase she falls off cliff is a big hint

When the drama first started, I didn't like how cruel Shen Zaiye was to Jiang Taohua. He was constantly choking her, trying to murder her, and talking down to her - I remember saying that I wanted him to suffer a little before she accepted his love. I guess I got my wish because our man is really going through it now lol.

I really liked Zaiye's reactions to finally uncovering the truth about Taohua. Liu Xue Yi did a fantastic job portraying the agony, guilt, and rage Zaiye felt without much words. It is angsty in all the best ways. I liked that he is seeking revenge for her by going after those that once bullied and harmed her too, and how he assured her that she can trust him. The way this man is determined to protect and right the wrongs done to his wife is everything.

I haven't watched the teasers for the next episodes yet, but hopefully they get rid of the fake Jiang Taohua + 3rd prince engagement and amnesia plotlines soon.

This dumb ass prince omg. I guess I should be celebrating that we have an idiot here that our couple can easily deal with. If I was Huaijin, I would be pissed that this guy is the one I keep cleaning his mess. All he needs to do is stay put and listen but he always act and doesn’t even bother to tell Huaijin so the mess can get bigger and bigger. If that’s not the biggest proof that he is not fit to be an emperor, I don’t know what is. Like he isn’t evil and smart, is evil, arrogant, and dumb which is so much worse.

What a waste of talent of Huaijin. And I actually liked the sibling bond between Zhenzhen and him, it reminds me a little of Taohua.

The emperor… he is no good guy. He is evil too in a way. He is willing to let evil go unpunished if it’s beneficial. I hope the next heir is the 4th prince because he is the most compassionate and clearly cares about justice. I have no doubt that the emperor wants someone to keep Shen Zaiye in check.

Very well written on all of the characters. I agree, though I put the drum on hold because I’m tired of her pushing away the ML who is literally her biggest ally and strongest one. But what you wrote is spot on.

At first I thought the 3rd prince was so naive to willingly compromise with jiang tao hua because it'll expose himself and eventually lead szy to him.

but no, it was actually a very calculative move. tho I bet he knew he was betting himself but he trusted his brain and his gut feeling.

and it doesn't matter, wether jth faked her amnesia or the possibility of her to gain her memory back later if her amnesia was real. because he already planned his way out and how to gain benefit from her.

he knew that jth genuinely cared about qing tai. and with that sudden visit, the 3rd prince confirmed that szy had fallen for jing taohua. jth would become szy's weakness. and as a loverboy himself, mu wuyin was very satisfied, to see a potential tool right before his eyes.

but shen zaiye was very different from the 3rd prince tho. yes he fell for her but he wasn't blinded.

I'm currently in the 10th episode and I didn't expect that relationship between the ml and 4th prince

I am very glad Meng Zhenzgen is back. As it should be. I hope she manipulates things a lot as a villain.I hope she does become a huge thorn in main couple plans.
