Ep 16 is about LLH’s outlook on life.
Summed up : He has always wanted to live, but live freely. Pursue simplicity and nature.
An attitude of loving life.
Even his outlook for his past was also positive, as he said : "It was good before, and it is good now."

Might be an unpopular opinion, but damn.....It was one of the rarest and rarest drama where I did the least skipping and felt emotionally content and overwhelmed as well. Following are the things to consider if this might be a good drama for you as well:

If you like a lot of skinship and kisses and all then its not for you.
If you want to watch a drama with a quite heavy plot, here and there fights, plotting all over the place among this and that, conquering each other territories then this drama is not for you.

Things which were to my liking in the drama were:
The emotional touch that the main leads had, I personally loved it, the helplessness of the king, completely alone even in the crowd, not being able to trust anyone, and then suddenly a light of hope drops in your life. This drama focuses a lot on emotional quotient which is the thing I like a lot.
There are not many side stories (i hate side stories), the whole show runs on the same plot, all the characters run after the same plot nothing unnecessary.

There are a lot of things i can say about this drama but it will be too long, but if you wanna know anything feel free to ask, because I liked the drama toooo much and won't mind talking about it.

Go through the cooment and how funny when some extreme fans.. blaming LAR fans and claiming that zhang yuxi haters made the drama rate low...
.
How can you blame the masterpice drama fan based which had an explosive and unbeatable chemistry with the low rating of drama with difrent genre?
.
The truth is there is a lot people whose not even watching LAR and watch stand by me said the drama was good.. but the chemistry between the lead is lack.. but they hve good acting... and they more like yanzhi character since its strong
.
The fact is this drama got low rating beacuse of its genre.. the historical palace drama is hard to get high rating.m because the plot is brain wrecking and serious... compare to xian xia, modern or wuxia... so LAR is xian xia thats why its got its hight rating and deserve it because its a masterpice and hv bonus with the explosive chemistry between the FL AND ML...
.
Blaming the high reputation drama with the low rating of once drama is such unprofessional behaviour and toxic...
.
Dont blame me for bringing up other drama in this comment since lot of comment from toxic fans blaming other drama and fans for its low rating...
.
I love both drama since im cheng yi fans..

For those Those who says it's a sad ending-

Don't spread that it's a sad ending. Because many people don't see it just because they think it's a sad ending and some Those who are watching or already watched the drama - are also manipulated or got confused by your comments - keeping the given clues on the side or pretending not to watch it(clues) or ignoring it(clues), thinking it is a sad ending, where actually it is a very beautiful happy ending.

He (Qi Yan) did not die at the end. This is a game of chess, always planning ahead, acting it out and carefully making all moves without mistakes. Throughout the drama Qi Yan planned everything to win his game. At the end, right after he crowned his uncle as the crown prince, he was able to be at peace. After he crowned his uncle, he said to Yuer, "We can be together at last. I will spend the rest of my life with you. Now we really can stay together and live the life we want." He also mentioned that he wanted an ordinary life. (His loyal soldier, Han Ding, was in on his plan. You could see the way Han Ding smiled at Yuer towards the end, that smile gesture gave it away as well.) After Qi Yan tells Yuer they can now live the life they wanted together, he started the acting towards death to win his next move. He faked his death to pass the throne to his uncle, had Yuer leave the palace and at the very very end, Qi Yan showed up at Yuer's noodle place and ordered, "Biangbiang noodles"...

They faked death so many times in the this drama, its a thing. Every situation is not as it seems. You have to bridge between the words. The ending is indeed, beautiful. Qi Yan and Yuer got the ordinary life they wanted together.. The Good Uncle got the throne.. and the bad guy died. Its a beautiful happy ending.

If you notice the voice of the one who ordered noodles at the end, that's Qi Yan voice.

Its not a sad ending, you need to use your brain and clues. If you dont use your brain for those given clues, then its a sad ending for you only. Otherwise its a clear beautiful and happy ending. Really worth watching drama.

I will be honest here. If one is love deprived and they want to see something overly romantic to the point of being TOXIC, watch Ashes of love. If one wants to watch a show where the pacing and the storyline are good, Go for Love and redemption. I agree with some of the points but I will mainly talk about the plot of these two dramas. In Love and redemption, we get to see many conspiracies and wars between all three realms, Love and redemption isn't focused on love as their focal point of the story. So there wasn't a draggy moment while watching it unlike Ashes of Love. This drama is so long but ironically there isn't a solid story other than watching an evil Heavenly Empress hating on a dimwit grape fairy and on Run Yu while her Phoenix son looks on and not helping. Run Yu, Run Yu 's mother, Empress and Yin You's back story was what was interesting in this drama. It's literally. The love story between leads from Heavenly realm to mortal real then back to heavenly realm and then, they break up while Run Yu being the third wheel and then they search for one another and that's it. I'm not a romance freak. So Ashes of Love was a waste of time to me. I can't even give it a rewatch value. However I have watched Love and redemption two times now and I'm still loving it. I just can't forget our glutinous Tengshe, our relaxed Lize Palace deputy Chief and our confidennt Wu Zhi Qi.

I can understand why people have different viewpoints. For me, Love and Redemption will always have a special place in my heart, even after watching the classic Xianxias (TMOPB, AOL, Love and Destiny, ALP).

Love and Redemption has brought me back to watching CDramas after years of not seeing any shows. I find many dramas predictable but the identity reveals in LAR are so unexpected. The drama is filled with references to Taoism, Buddhism, and the Bible. In fact, the entire story alludes to an old Buddhist fable about the Garuda’s glazed-glass heart (the Chinese title of LAR is glazed glass 琉璃). Along with the religious allusions, I also enjoy the philosophical debates on topics like juvenile delinquency (whether to punish Yu Er), rational ignorance (whether Xuanji should gain all senses), and scapegoat mechanism (Sifeng being tortured at Fuyu Island).

In my eyes, LAR isn’t just a Xianxia romance but also a story of self-discovery. While the show has its flaws (especially in the later episodes), the overall storyline is memorable and unique.

I've seen ChengYi only in two Shows,: LAR and MLC, both Shows are beautiful and provide a lot of thoughts for reflection 🍒 also, characters he plays are very positive, selfless, forgiving, wise and victorious 💗

omg first wuxia! I wasn't sure should I recommend my friend to watch this as first wuxia.how do you like it so…
I would've recommended my friend to watch a classic wuxia, and then watch MLC. Normally, wuxia focus on revenge and trying to be top martial artist. MLC has a different moral. So that makes MLC more special!

MLC is still definitely more classic wuxia, but with better camerawork and good fighting choreography. if you enjoyed Cheng Yi's fighting scenes, which didn't have stand-ins - I think finding another wuxia with his level of sword fight is going to be tough!

The screenwriter for this is same as "love and redemption". So if you liked the MLC story and pacing, check that one out though it's actually wuxia/xianxia.

Classic like Condor Heroes '83 really best represent wuxia. But probably 2017 version is easier on eyes. I don't know is it too much of classic?

For something more modern, "The Long Ballad" and "The Wolf" have some of that classic wuxia vibe.

The open ending for me is a positive one; that Li Lianhua is alive. I read the novel and Li Lianhua is alive.…
though i see the ending this way since i don't think it ended positively. That beggar told him the location of the dead body. So that's where LLH died. As for his figure that appeared, i think it meant that he finally got the life he wanted for a few moments, right before his death. So that was him before his death, looking at the sea, a flashback. Ultimately what FDB and DFS saw was the empty beach. As for the dog, well it came with FDB, so its normal for it to look up and wag its tail looking at FDB when they stopped.
But i must say that if my interpretation is right, it would indeed be a fitting ending. Also, i believe such an ending was way too much of a forceful tragic ending because obviously in the last episode of the series, the king could've been surely saved by some other way. But i believe they purposely made it like that to give us a sad open ending. At least i am thankful that QWM and LLH didn't get back together.

There are many characters and paralel stories, so for those who are not used to wuxia dramas or dramas with lots of characters, it may be a little difficult to understand or tag along with the pace of story in the beginning. BUT only in the beginning! Blood of youth is a wonderful wuxia+palace scheme drama! This is definitely one of the best dramas I ever watched!!
Xiao Se reminds me of Li Lianhua from Mysterious Lotus Casebook: a sarcastic old fox. The fight scenes are excellent! This drama is perfect!!
