I think the simple plan of the sect leaders was for her to stop TTJ from turning into the DG. But the REAL plan by the Gods was to transform him and make him turn away from evil. Thats why Ming Ye chose the two of them to enter his dream. TTJ/demon to experience goodness as a god, LSS/goddess to experience turning into a demon. JiZe told LSS to collect the 3 items:dream, TTJ tear and thread which required TTJ to have feelings. The dragon scale also protected him from the needles and JiZe sent Pang YiZhi to save him. (Remember JiZe kicked the boy down from heaven to pick up his flowers. That was PYZ). Pang Yizhi sent a message to Zhao You to pick up TTJ after 500 years. He was allowed into the sect to cultivate his heart.

I think as individuals in our own professional life, there’s always room for growth and we are always learning. that being said, the projects each chooses, helps their growth and development. I don’t personally know LYX but I sense he’s very genuine in what he does and immerse himself into that character, putting everything in. I appreciate that he doesn’t stick with what he’s comfortable with. He’s okay playing the anti-hero in one and the hero in the next. I love the complex characters he chooses to play (TTJ in TTEOM, Rong Qi in Princess Silver, Run Yu in Ashes of Love, etc); not eveyone can pull it off flawless pulling all the heartstrings. He’s grown so much over the years and I know that he will continue to show us throughout each project.

He’s definitely up there with Hu Ge and Wai Kai for me. Such talented and humble guy!

LYX can always improve and he will. Considering this is the most complex characters in costume drama, he nails it beyond what other C popular actor can. But he is by far above everyone else in this drama. There might be scenes that he can do better. But Portraying 3 DGs, 3 Characters ttl 8 personalities is no joke for any other actor in the world.
He is Slaying it and He will improve. EACH TIME from drama to drama, he never fails to amaze me with his improvement.

You're going to laugh. I just watched the 40th episode. Before that, since May 9, I was in grief after reading about the finale here. After I went through the stage of anger and came to acceptance, I was able to watch. And it's great! It's not tragic as other viewers may write.In the whole drama, I cried only on episodes 39 and 40. It's so beautiful and dramatic at the same time! You have to watch it.Read fewer comments about the finale. It all depends on how closely you watch the drama. Every detail is important here. There is nothing superfluous in 40 episodes! I see a kind of open НE that I didn't expect.

YXW’s love needed to evolve slowly because all she had seen was the destruction he caused in the future. Hence it took longer for her to look at him a different way an she still had doubts till the end

Loved it🥰 this drama needs deeper lenses to view love. I guess different viewers watch a drama at varying points have different expectation. Most i would say love a HE desiring the last frame to be leads live happily and are reunited. Life is already so harsh so drama provides that platform of escape and hope 😅... this drama is on another lenses where it ends with sacrificial love at its peak. A paradox of an unloved, despised, abused man choosing to save the worlds by his one action - make LSS a goddess and him to die at her hands (coz that is the only way to eliminate dg). He knew LSS would not n could not kill him if he didnt orchestrate the last scene. So after this unfathomable sacrifice, viewers would still hope against hope to see a good outcome for TTJ - perhaps some might say his sacrifice is the best outcome coz it is what he desires for the worlds and true to his heart - he loved people despite what he suffered. Yet some would also hope, like me, that his desire to be with LSS will be met as well. Regardless, accepted it is what it is, still a perfect 10 for me🥰

Yes, this is a must watch show for everyone. I will recommend this to everyone till eternity. It is right up there in my all time favorite dramas list.

Like when i saw the ends i was outraged.
But my first interpretion of them was a happy open ending. Even all factors say its one. I don't know where this bad ending things came.

Yes it definitely is an open to interpretation ending. I understand people's sentiments but I also feel it's unfair to just label it as a BE. There is a bigger message here.

THE ENDING SHOULD BE INTERPRETED BY THE VIEWER ITSELF.
For me it was a happy open eding.
For others it was a sad open ending.

I have full hope he would have been back. Its TTJ he won't go away just like that. Specially seeing how he has a wife and daughter now.

I just wish we have a small proper extra episode so that it puts an end to the debate of happy or sad open ending

My thoughts on the ending…

As I said earlier, I LOVED the finale. Yes it was bittersweet, yes it was painful but it was also BEAUTIFUL and POIGNANT. I thought I would be really sad and angry watching the finale but surprisingly, though I was sad, I wasn’t angry. I understood why they did, what they did. I understood TTJ’s sacrifice. TTJ loved LSS, but he also loved the world. LSS loved TTJ, but she also loved world. In the end, their love for all beings was greater than their love for each other. Their love was selfless.

I don’t think TTJ is gone forever, because I think it was only LSS who fully turned into a goddess. Even her phoenix form appeared when she transformed. TTJ became godlike but I don’t think he fully transformed into a god. So there is a chance he would still come back. LSS also promised she would say everything she wanted to say next time. He did leave his divine wisp in the shell, so he isn’t fully gone. And if he didn’t fully transform into a god, he can reincarnate.

And even if he did become god; I still don’t think he disappeared completely. Although they did say earlier they gods didn’t have souls, when LSS transformed, she did meet Chu Huang and others in another realm outside of the three realms. So there is a place like that where the gods still exists. Who is to say, TJJ won’t find a way to come back? Or LSS won’t find a way to reach that realm?

Another thing that really struck me is the inscriptions; YXW, beloved wife of TJJ and TJJ, the loving husband of LSS. TJJ was the LOVER and LSS was the BELOVED.

LYX and BL are truly legends who brought these characters to life. We already knew about the tombstone scene from before but during their farewell scene there was one part when I felt LYX and BL were truly crying and it wasn’t just acting. That’s how immersed they were in their characters.

Yes, the drama wasn’t flawless. It had some editing and technical issues. They had to cut down on episodes. But the team put their hearts and souls and it shows. This is an UNFORGETTABLE drama. I still would prefer an epilogue instead of just a voiceover by LYX and BL. They could have easily given us one and I don't understand why they didn't film an epilogue. I would also like to know what happened to YQY. Did Pian Ran come back? But still as a finale epi, it was grand and epic.

Yesterday, I before watching the finale I was upset and said that wanted to give it a 100/10 but could only give a 10. I take my words back and I still give it a hundred on a personal scale.

I am sorry, but I think those who rated this drama low or gave it a 1 star didn’t understand the show at all. Not the dramas fault.

And yes, I would be rewatching it. I am ALREADY rewatching it.

Very well put. It indeed is a thought provoking show. Nothing was ever and black and white here and one needs to put themselves in each and every characters shoes to understand their actions.

It was something we needed in the crowd of drama where the ML becomes good from evil in a brink.
I love how they all were morally grey.

Finally a refreshing, thought-provoking show that respects its adult audience (ML is not a goody two shoes/FL is not childish). I had a blast watching! Really appreciate how it introduces morally grey characters on the premise that regardless of your background, you are ultimately who you choose to be. YBC/TH manipulated people using honorable reputation. GYJW/SJ started as innocent but succumbed to desires. XL/MY abandoned their loved ones for peace. YQY/LSS did bad things for good causes. PR/SY sacrificed themselves despite being demons. And oof TTJ/CJM underwent such an immense development I can hardly think of a more complex character. He changed from being a vindictive, emotionless schemer to saving the world in a benevolent, selfless way.
I was getting tired of all the "love conquers all", "karma knows best" or "good vs. evil" tropes. Feelings are fleeting. Reality is unfair. And life is not always black and white.
Last but not least, unbeatable chemistry between the leads omg. 0 dead fish kisses. Too bad we lost some eps due to airing restrictions but definitely an iconic, creative xianxia!
