THE ENDING SHOULD BE INTERPRETED BY THE VIEWER ITSELF.
For me it was a happy open eding.
For others it was a sad open ending.

To be on safe side lets call it a OPEN ENDING.

thanks to all mdl users for another enjoyable discussion experience, and thanks to the novel readers for helping to explain things. to those who didn’t like the drama or the ending, i hope you have better luck on another drama you are currently viewing or watch in the future.

1. The upbeat background music and LSS smiling while talking to her daughter at Mohe River
2. TTJ isn’t completely lost, a fragment of his soul is in the Heart Guarding Scale, and that fragment of soul is also smiling contently
3. The drama purposely choose to flash forward to 500 years instead of 1000 years like in the novel. Going by this LSS would still be in the process of collecting his souls, so it made sense at this point in time TTJ hadn’t reincarnated yet!

imo the the choice of timing and the bgm and the smile made my heart feel less heavy, that “yes some things will take time but it’s ok we’ll get there eventually”

Definitely one of the best dramas I've watched!!

Kinda hating how Youko Twitter is all about BFTB now. TTJ’s body ain’t even cold yet you heartless monsters 😭😭

Open Ending with hopeful note is fitting for this tragic story where characters have so many conflicting feelings, love and hate. Forgiveness and Revenge. Hope and Despair. For entire drama, writers balancing two different side of spectrum. If ending go extreme good or bad, it will ruined the entire message of the story.

Completely Happy ending will ruined it for me. Bad ending also will ruin it and make everything futile.

They have all my respect for their bravery, willing to try against all odds. They only lacking was many scenes were taken off making the editing a little messy. Wish the censorship rules were announce after this was released. I don’t mind another 16 episodes. I felt this is too short which took about a month to complete.

Well I have to give them tons of applaud for their braveness.

I miss that evil laugh, from ADG, to DG 3.0. That was a brilliant laugh, so very different than Yunxi own voice.

Listening to Mysterious Bird OST reminds you of all the beautiful moments! It's actually healing for that finale!

The emotions from LYX and BL were spot on. Re-watching it, I had to admit that LSS although she didn’t confess, her emotions showed her love for TTJ and TTJ understands. As many pointed out what’s important to him is the safety of the three realms and LSS. So he doesn’t need the world to like him or honor his deed. That’s the most lovable part of TTJ’s character, when he decided, he will see through it, and it’s true to who he is.
And this drama ends with LSS has to live with only TTJ’s memory, I doubt he can come back, but it’s fine as she definitely have regrets but also love.
There I can reconcile.

Leo understanding of his character is very surprising. From sev interviews, book author, director, script writer and producer have all spoken that he often surprised them with his own understanding of the character. That's why each one of his role is breathing and alive.
