The Immortal realm did feel very rushed and I know they had to cut down a lot of episodes and you could feel it, I felt a lot of Bai Lu's scenes were cut near the end as well especially. Though I'm sure they tried to do their best of what they had to cut down. I did really enjoyed this drama, it was unique and different. The costumes were to die for, the OST was next level and the chemistry was on fire. This show was its own thing, TTJ was a very unique leading character for cdramas and it was refreshing to see something different, Luo Yunxi did a truly amazing performance. There wasn't a lot of happy moments but I think it was meant to be that way as its more of a tragedy than a happy love story. I'm glad I went on this ride and I'll miss this show!!
this is an exageration.see some recent xianxias with a good budget and most of what you say already happens in…
as far as I know, this is the only C-drama with antagonist/villain as the main story. For me, TTJ is always the villain. He starts as DG and ends as DG.

Guys, Tantai Jin had his redemption arc. All the misunderstandings between him and Li Susu were finally cleared. As a god, Susu can now sense the true heart and intentions of people. Tantai Jin's beautiful white clothes that we see after he sheds his demon god robes were symbolic of his pure, selfless, and brave heart. He didn't die a slave to evil or the destiny of the demon god, he died on his own terms, and for his own purposes--- in the hands of the woman he loved, and for the world. He overcame the cruel fate that had been haunting him all his life. And now, when he comes back, he'll come back as Tantai Jin-- a husband, a father, and a hero--- not as anybody else.
Quite sure that final view of Tantai Jin inside the heart-protecting scale meant that Li Susu had gathered his soul fragments and would eventually resurrect him. By then, he can be reunited with Li Susu and their lovely daughter <3
No drama is perfect, regardless of the story and how it ends. For me this drama should be a 10
FOR 1. Putting pressure to other Producer Platform to elevate their assembly line quality drama 2. Casting actors that can act instead of Pretty Facial Paralysis AI Acting Actor 3. Not giving us shitty cheap CGI and bad setting 4. Giving us the best costume Xianxia has ever seen
The producer has GOOD intention and TTEOTM will be the benchmark that will force other to elevate their GAME for the benefit of C Drama Audience, US people, TO BENEFIT US.....
It's been a while since I've felt this good. Feeling at the edge of my seat for every episode and looking forward to each episode. Each episode is not a disappointment. This is by far THE BEST XIANXIA drama from sadness, to happy, angry, mystery, darkness and many more. I know it's too early to say since there are still many upcoming dramas to be broadcast but this drama gives me the good feelings.
1) I like how the fate of devil god from beginning and ending was in the hands of TTJ itself as he is the one who wrote his fate/destiny from the very beginning. Doesn't matter devil's god 1.0 from the bore life or devil god after 500 yrs he is THE same person at the end of the day. Him planning for his come back 10,000 yrs later by planning his trial in mortal world from the torture, the sadness, the betrayal after betrayal the setback was just to prepare himself to be stronger so that he could be the one reigning the world of chaos by feeding the all in distress was just remarkable.
2)I like how the writer's portrayal of devil god in this story really displayed the true meaning of a devil no signs of mercy, hesitation nor kindness or mankind, sympathy but pure evil due to the evil bone that's binded to him. It also tells us the root cause/existence of devil god derived from hatred, sins, anger, vengeance all the sinful feelings coming from himself and also human beings that feed on the devil god that result in the existence of devil fetus makes alot of sense
3)I am pretty satisfied with the ending since it does make sense for TTJ to perish since his existence comes from hatred, anger etc and only he himself the devil god could end this by destroying himself. I like the fact that TTJ could choose to be good as a devil god despite having all 3 weapon binded to him but he could control it with his good inner energy he gained from xiaoyao sect (I'm not sure if I explain this well but that's what I understood)
But he choose to end his own war by letting the immortal god (li susu) to end him once and for all. I high key believe he won this war actually and not the immortal god/immortal sect as he was the one who made the decision to end the devil god reign. I think if he chose to destroy the world he could cause it was within his control all along anyway.
Im pretty sad that there wasn't much of an opportunity given to TTJ to redeem himself and live a good life that he deserves. I mean TTJ deserve his own justice cause firstly he was born bearing no feelings nor heart so he dk what's right nor wrong so technically it's not his fault. The biggest culprit that allowed his evil spirit to grow was from human itself so much for them being righteous huhh. TTJ was able to dicern those acts of feelings by imitating Xiao lin furthermore there wasn't a kind soul that could lead him to the righteous path or at least believed him. So kinda sad that he couldn't live a life that he desires a simple life with li susu as CJM. Don't say he did not try to be a good person he did try to redeem himself and live a good life but humankind is the one who drove him to a corner.
4)kudos to design team for producing such a majestic beautiful pieces of hanfu for TTJ, YXW, XL, Binchang, Pian Ran, YQW and all the other supporting cast. From the headgear, headpieces, ornaments for the hanfu everything is just so beautiful I think the word beautiful is not enough to describe. I was mesmerized through out each episode NVR disappoints!! There wasn't a repetition the same hanfu for each character. I am in so much in awe for TTJ be it he was the devil god, mingye or CJM all of his pieces are so majestic. Even when he was a king as TTJ woww the aura he executes just speechless
5) thank you for the graphic team in making the graphic look so legit and beautiful without those editing it wouldn't be complete
6) Thank you for the actors and actress they are all incredible especially since most of their scene are acted out with green screen just shows their imagination and professionalism are beyond words. I especially would like to touch on yunxi his gaze and aura that he execute really suits his role as devil god. Every gesture his aye gaze just pulls you thru. Also explosive chemistry bailu and yunxi NVR fails love them both I hope they will have another project tgt I can't get enough of their chemistry not only onscreen but offscreen as well. My takeaway here apart from bailu and yunxi I really like pianran and YQY looking forward to their growth and upcoming project.
I hope bailu drama with Dylan or Zhang linghe will not be release that soon cause having withdrawal symptoms right now need some buffer time to move to another drama.
I hope they win the drama of the year award I'm not sure if they have similar like Korean baeksang/daesang award they deserve it. This drama definitely deserve 10/10 so will becoming to this page to see if the rating goes up to 9 or 9.1 cause it really deserve the high praise.
But just curious in ep 1 why was devil god aftering mirror of the past like I still couldn't figure out that part did I miss anything in the ep
I've been watching wuxia and xianxia for 10+ years, and I'd say there's roughly two happy endings for every sad ending, and about a fifth the time it's a "if you tilt your head and squint hard it's a lays-the-groundwork-for-HE open ending" route. But sad endings are not nearly as all-the-time, especially in the last 5-6 years. (Things come in and out of style, after all.)
I don't think the problem, really, is whether the ending is happy or sad. It's whether it's well-written (satisfying, delivers on the story's promise) or badly-written (unsatisfying, doesn't answer its questions or goes back on its promises). You can have a happy ending that's wildly unsatisfying (deus ex machina endings) or a sad ending that feels right and satisfying because it's the story's logical destination.
TtEotM made a lot of promises. It was asking questions related to defying fate, undoing or defeating destiny, having agency in your own story -- and in the end, the answer it gave was "actually, you can't do any of that; your fate is set no matter what you do, might as well die". It didn't live up to its promises, and that's what makes it an unsatisfying ending. If it were the logical end, a lot of people would be crying, sure, but not *pissed*. Not like this.
Under all the "why can't it end happy" noise, I suspect that's the real issue: the show asked a hopeful question and settled for a hopeless answer.
It is a beautiful and good ending. It is not open; it is closed well. It is just people cannot accept that Tantai…
Yes, I know TTJ was finally at peace by seeing his smile at the end of the drama, but still... after all his suffering since his birth, losing his mother, his father and brother want to kill him, being betrayed so many times by the person he trusted the most and dearly to him... I think it's too cruel if he couldn't spend his life with someone who he loved so much... his whole life was already tragic 😥
So after watching 40 episodes full of angst, misery, suffering and betrayal, I think many of us really want to see a happy ending for TTJ and LSS, at least TTJ can have his “normal” life with LSS as he wish too
But it’s xianxia after all 😅, we can’t expect a happy ending like in fairy tale haha
I hate the ending so much! I cried my eyes out not believing what was happening!I can't believe YOUKU did this…
I agree it was a crappy ending, but it wasn't a waste because in the end TTJ won. He didn't destroy the world but saved it. He didn't loose his soul to the DG but remained true to his deepest self. He was able to look at all the bad and accept it, that loving and being loved was still worth it. He was able to save those he cared about in the end and not hold on to bitterness or hate. Super powerful. I wish the writers had mercy and given us a few happy moments for him though!
Well ending as far i remember is very true to the book, even if they cut and altered a lot of stuff. I get that people are unhappy but welp :P Also as far i remember, we have some kind of epilogue later, when TTJ is back. But yeah, censorship, book is long, we have a lot of characters, episodes regulations and so on, so i think still cast, and whole staff, did the best what the could with the title. I belive they cut A LOT, and it's sometimes hard, to tie all the knots in the story, which is so complex and we are left with a lot of questions. But i still enjoyed it, both book and the drama, and for sure i will back to it someday.
Lots of tears shed in that last episode but I liked the way it ended.
This was an amazing quality production. Loved all the gorgeous outfits and sets. The directing and cinematography + CGI editing was well executed. I thought they nailed the casting - the entire cast was phenomenal portraying their characters, especially our leads. But Luo Yunxi was particularly spectacular for me. I really loved the idea of an antihero ML here - everything about his story, his selfish obsession with Ye Xiwu, all the way to his enlightenment as Cang Jiumin, his angsty love story with Li Susu - I loved it all! The second half of the drama was everything I wanted to see and then some. Bravo to the entire cast and production crew for an excellent job!
*Sending virtual hugs* to ALL of us who finished and future viewers who will finish with that ending. I mean what was that?! I can't even process my thoughts correctly. I did my best to avoid all spoilers this morning before watching and I'm glad I did. I knew I'd be sad and yelling at the screen but not this much. LOL. Their fate was too cruel. I realized it in Ep.38 but was hoping it would have a little change. Ok. No more Xianxia's for me. I'm out! 😂😂 Thank you Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu for breaking my heart this past month. Such a phenomenal job despite the hiccups. ❤️ running off to go rant 😭😭
The scenes at the tomb of tantai jin's memorial right next to ye xiwu got me sobbing fr.
Luo Yunxi's look of longing, resignation, and acceptance of his fate vs Bai Lu's painful crying from anguish, regret and loss were devastatingly beautiful.
I was half prepared for the BE but their raw emotions didn't spare me from the pain that their characters felt. I'm not a fan of BE, I was actually debating whether to watch this or not but I didn't regret that I did. I'm actually going to rewatch, this is the kind of love story and acting that I'm willing to cry over more than once.
Kudos to the cast especially to the leads Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu! 🤎

I hope the grade doesn't drop because of the ending.
I don't think it was a bad ending, at least it wasn't a blood spitting one. Well only LSS did spat some blood earlier and then when she turned into her goddess form, it's nothing but all beauty, calmness, wisdom. etc. LOVE Bai Lu in her goddess form, no one can nail it any better. In the other Xianxias... one of the lovers usually ends up dying during misunderstandings, their mess are still not clean up but since one is dead all is forgiven... The scenes after LSS fell from the tower is the good example, most Xianxia would ended there like that. But in this ending, they understood the fate and accepted it, it's bittersweet.
