It's okay, the reason I've understood everything is because I read the novel. I may have been like you otherwise!

- Ming Sheng knew her sister didn't die from appendicitis, but he thought she died from AIDS, probably because of the rumours. He doesn't know it's suicide.
- It's not explained how he knows she's Beiyu's sisters but if he knows about the AIDS rumours, he also knows about Beiyu's little sister and her name, since the whole village knew about it and it was everywhere in the college's forums. He could also have asked around who was the girl he played piano for (when they were children) and found out she was one of the dancer's little sister, hence him knowing Beiyu had a little sister named Qingyu. There are quite a lot of possibilites.
- Ming Sheng saying to his father he might have participated in Beiyu's death is probably due to his own background. I don't know if the show is really clear about it but from the novel, you know that Ming Sheng's grandfather was hospitalized for a long time before dying, but he loved freedom more than being in hospital, so he asked his son (Ming Sheng's father) to let him die free. The father did it without telling Ming Sheng because it was during his exams, so Ming Shend resented him a LOT about that and kind of thought his father killed his granddad (it was more like the granddad knowing he would die anyway and asking to die earlier). Knowing this, Ming Sheng was very suspicious of his father and considered him a bad doctor, hence why he asks his father if he is sure he has nothing to do with Beiyu's death. I don't think he actually believed his father killed Beiyu, but he was angry at that point and just mixed everything up. There are quite a few scences of Ming Sheng saying his dad sucks as a doctor and messes up at a lot, but that's only him misunderstanding his father due to the granddad's backstory.
- He did look further into it, but only when Qingyu asked him to ask for her sister's whole medical history. Only then did he look into it and then sent it to her, but her brother got the package and forgot to give it to her, so she found out much later.

In the novel, she had already found out by now, they changed things (she found out when the whole family was in the village, thanks to her aunt, his name was written in her sister's diary).

the drama will definitely have more romantic scenes! most of the romantic scenes from the teaser arent in the novel lol

oh, so the book is definitely NOT a romance, even though ming sheng and qingyu like each other. they don't hold hands even once, let alone kissing, lmao. they only get together in the last 10 lines of the last chapter of the book. it's the definition of "slow burn". there is another female character that kind of has complex feelings for ming sheng in the book, but she's not annoying and knows he likes qingyu (and she's very close with qingyu, so she never tries anything). the drama is going to change a lot of things and focus way more on the romance, with kissing scenes etc, but those romantic scenes are not in the novel, so i can't really answer you (but i'm sure they'll keep the slow burn aspect). but you should keep in mind that it's not a youth romance drama like when i fly towards you at ALL, it deals with very dark subjects and characters. it's a thriller, before anything else.

@GraceLee said it perfectly. I understand not wanting to watch dramas with heavy themes and I respect it but if you ever want to make an exception, then Reborn should be it. At least, if the show is as good as the novel!

most novels and shows don't dare touching that kind of subjects because they are very dark and hard to handle, but this one did such a good job. that's why i'm so eager to watch the show. the book was definitely devastating and very realistic, with little-to-no romance (but insane chemistry between the characters). the show has so many more ming sheng/qingyu scenes, and just for that, i'm hyped!

when the novel/show starts, her sister is already dead. everyone speaks as if she deserved her death because she was a trouble maker who seduced and had sexual relationships with men, even as a minor (she was really beautiful). there are rumors about her having AIDS because of that. the truth is she was sexually assaulted by their older cousin. he groomed her and they were basically going out together when she was a child (and he, an adult). she ended up pregnant with his child (as a minor) and finally told her parents about it but they did everything to hide it (in order to "protect" her reputation) and made her have an abortion. the sister killed herself while in the hospital, if i'm not wrong, but it was not her first attempt at killing herself (though no one knew). i don't know if the plot will stay the same in the show, as incest is very taboo. maybe it's going to be censured or toned down. the novel is very dark (but a masterpiece).

not necessarily "bad", but the actress doesn't want to kiss (understandable) meanwhile her character is supposed to be very brazen and flirty. so it's very weird to watch a drama where the characters are supposed to be steamy and not see a single authentic kiss scenes (instead, we have weird cuts). the gap between what we're told (their dialogues) and what we're showed (no intimate scene) is disturbing

the script has only 28 episodes? then why did they plan for 40 episodes?

As someone said it before me, the romance is a small part of the drama so if you're watching it only for the romance, you won't like it. But to answer your questions :
1. They get together officially in episode 28
2. They break up in episode 30 until the episode 35 but there is no big drama, they still interact and care for each other and they have a good reason for breaking up (it makes sense with the story and the characters)
3. Depends on what you call a "time skip". Several months do go by quite quickly, but no there is no "one year later" or "six months later".
4. I guess you could say they reconcile in episode 35, though I feel like there were never truly mad at each other
5. There is a second male lead but he never confesses directly, the FL acts as if she doesn't know, and overall he knows he has no chances because she has always liked the same guy and everyone knows about it
6. No exes
7. Happy ending, but a little bit "rushed" due to the fact that the drama was made to be 40 episodes instead of 38. Still a perfect ending though.
