yeah it does happen quite often, but it also makes sense because they always see each other in secret (since they can't be open about their relationship), so of course people "disturb" them, since they don't know. but the original question was about forced kisses and not about being caught during kissing!

there shouldn't be many of them. at least in the novel it doesn't really happen (from what i remember), though it depends what you call "forced". he does take her by surprise sometimes but there is never a moment where she rejects him, and the only time she does ask him to stop and he keeps kissing her is for external reasons (someone is knocking on the door so they should stop but he doesn't - that's different from her not wanting it, so he doesn't really force her).

well, i don't know if you've had your answers since you posted this, but it has almost nothing to do with generation to generation. the ML may be cold at first but he's overall a real green flag, and the FL is very smart but she's also naive (at the beggining at least) and she's not physically strong at all. i feel like the vibes are very very different

don't worry haha, i was just asking because it surprised me to see the novel described as a "dark romance". to me a dark romance is something that relies a lot on abusive relationships and nanyi & queshan don't fall in that category, but i understand why you consider this as a dark romance if the tropes you just mentionned are dark romance for you!

why would you call this a dark romance? it's not. it's a tragedy, but not a dark romance

its an excellent novel. the main focus is the female lead and her growth. it starts when they're adults, goes back to their childhood for ~1/3 of the novel, and then goes back to them being adults. the romance is very light and not the main focus but it has a huge impact throughout the story because the the mains keep interacting and they influence each other and the story. the political plots were perfect and easy to understand. i loved every interaction between FLxML (and there are a lot) because they understand each other perfectly and are each other's only ally.
