why would you call this a dark romance? it's not. it's a tragedy, but not a dark romance
don't worry haha, i was just asking because it surprised me to see the novel described as a "dark romance". to me a dark romance is something that relies a lot on abusive relationships and nanyi & queshan don't fall in that category, but i understand why you consider this as a dark romance if the tropes you just mentionned are dark romance for you!

i did!
its an excellent novel. the main focus is the female lead and her growth. it starts when they're adults, goes back to their childhood for ~1/3 of the novel, and then goes back to them being adults. the romance is very light and not the main focus but it has a huge impact throughout the story because the the mains keep interacting and they influence each other and the story. the political plots were perfect and easy to understand. i loved every interaction between FLxML (and there are a lot) because they understand each other perfectly and are each other's only ally.

Review Still Shining
this is exactly the opinion i'd have if i didn't understand the show at all
what does your personal have to do with this??? are you projecting your life when you watch a show??? everyone is different, has different ambitions, and different things make them happy. it's so simplist and binary to judge it with : enough love / not enough love. the FL isn't like you, i don't see why that means she's a dead soul. and truly, if you want to keep this opinion, it's fine by me, but why would you come comment my review? you have every right to think what you want, and i have every right to think that the main focus of the show wasn't the romance and the message is full of hope, not only for the romance but also for their futures. leave me and my opinion alone lol

no, transmigration is forbidden for both of them, which is the explanation for the game in eastern fantasy ending too for exemple or the how dare you ending (if i remember correctly) . but i won't lie, i don't know the specifics, nor if they differentiate "time travel" and "transmigration", so idk how some of them manage to make it and others don't. i just think such an ending was to be expected for this drama and can't really be blamed on the screenwriters

i very much agree with you. they're ambiguous about it being a dream or not on purpose, specifically because of the censorship, i think. they can't outright make her stay in the 80's, nor can they truly say everything actually happened, so they put hints here and there and stayed ambiguous. i just need people to understand that they can't really blame them for not letting her stay in the 80s or not doing like in the novel because that's not the screenwriters' choice, they probably couldn't take that road.

arent they forced to do that dream ending because of the censorship and the rule that forbids transmigration shows? if that's the case we can't really blame the screenwriters

yes, i know, but it's not HD. for a drama with such beautiful directing choices, i'd rather watch it HD. i was watching it on netflix so far but i don't want to wait until march 30rd.
