Title Second Take
Thanks for the heads up. I've got time to bail before I get too invested.
It's on Youtube now aswell, but behind Membership. While I don't really like releasing a series for free and only putting one or two episodes behind a paywall, I at least can understand that thinking more than putting them on a one demographic exclusive platform.

I was also surprised by the change of title, but it seems that this is the international title proposed by TV…
Sigh. Netflix changes every title, even if it's perfect English (like Brush Up Life) that why I assumed. But even Japanese stations now jumping on the trend is ridiculous, especially if there'd be a manga or novel behind it.

Woah, did Netflix buy the rights for this and before airing it already gave it a totally stupid and unnecessary name change? At least it seems there's no source material they can f over with it.

Title Only You
Holy forking shirtballs, this is the weirdest and most combative comment section I've ever seen for a drama. At…
I hope this combative nature changes over time with more GL series. It's super annoying to read about either Freen&Becky or Ling&Orm in basically every forum and comment board about a series or when people discuss different GL pairings, even though it has nothing to do with either of those two, and start to argue that one of those two is the "best couple". But well, I'm not a fan of either of those two pairings or their series', so maybe it's just me who's annoyed by it. It also skews every series rating here on MDL because people give a series a 10 just because it's a LingOrm (or FreenBecky) series. To this day I really don't get how TSOU has such a high rating with all the problems it has.

Title Somewhere Somehow Spoiler
when i commented that on the youtube trailer someone came to tell me that "the novel is so good"... still…
If you look at it like this, you're definitely right. I wasn't looking at it in that kind of depth and more on a surface level, which is bad enough if you ask me.

Your 3rd paragraph is basically my go to when someone asks me why people in Japan don't want to legalize any LGBT laws even though the majority of the public is in favor of it. The whole "we don't want to endanger the concept of a traditional family" shit the government spouts for a number of years now is just them trying to keep the "old rules" alive of a family with a working husband and a wife that's the servant and mother. But I don't want to rant about Japanese society, that's a book I'd rather not open in a comments section of a Thai series.

I think the problem studios and producers have with introducing the "lesbian unique dynamics" idea is that they probably think they'd alienate non-lesbians (or at least the non-LGBT audience). Especially in patriarchic societies like Asia. That's why they always go back to the "higher powers" plot line because it gives the characters an obstacle everyone can rally against.

I think Pluto and Reverse 4 You are the best things we got, so far, when it comes to ignoring the "people with more power" storyline, at least for the main characters. Unfortunately R4U was extremely rushed and the ending was pretty butchered. And while Pluto also had some form of that plot line, the biggest obstacle of the main couple was overcoming guilt and self-doubt, at least in my opinion.

I think Thai studios should branch out and buy some Yuri Manga stories. They are often about high school (because of your 3rd paragraph probably), but they're more about acceptance and growing up than random people trying to get between them. Some studio that's known for making a series close to source material should buy Yagate Kimi ni Naru (Bloom Into You), it's just the best (Asian) Yuri/GL story.

Just a sidenote. The people you mentioned in your 2nd part, especially the one from Affair absolutely ruined the drama for me. The forgiving hero that threatened people and then almost killed himself with a gun in the process after breaking into an apartment. That guy would've majorly pissed me off in any plot, sorry for the language ;).

The "men" or "patriarchy" isn't the whole problem of Thai GL though. It's more like always someone with "more power" than the actual couple who brings up the fact that "two women can't/shouldn't be together" or "X needs to marry a man to be happy" or whatever the clichee statements are. Could be Parents, Family, Teacher, Boss, Landlord, etc (just some exapmples what I mean by that).
Off the top of my head, out of every (full length) GL drama that finished airing, I can only think of 3 series without a third party with higher social status trying to break up the main couple in some way, shape or form. And those are 23.5 (high school and only the drama), Unlock Your Love (rather bad) and Reverse 4 You (not romance focussed).

Well, after the latest trailer my last hope for the first "light-hearted GL rom-com" (that's not a high school drama) went out the window. I think I said it in a comment here before, but why is it so hard to make a fun(ny) GL without the "but I'm getting married to some annoying dude" or "but my family pressures me to do X, so we can't be together" angles?

Sooooooooooo. The last two episodes will be exclusively on the L App and you need to register for it? I hope this "our series (or part of it) is only available on app #293" trend doesn't continue. If you ask me, it's pretty annoying to download 700 different apps to watch dramas, especially if they're lesbian dating apps and I'd need to create a fake account.

They post a lot on tiktok but other than that it seems they're not doing much at all.
I know this is an unfair comparison, but when I see how much promo LMSY gets/does for their new drama, I feel pretty bad for the Queendom actresses, even the girls from Player the Series get tons more exposure. I actually forgot why I subscribed to the WeTV YT channel and after scrolling through 4 months and about 100 videos I remembered this is the studio of Queendom.

Are they running any PR for this? I'm not big on Social Media, but I just noticed the last YT video they uploaded for it was April 1st and that was the only one since the pilot, the bts and the reaction of it. Such a shame that they don't really seem to care to upload any videos to promote it and rather upload 100s of videos of the BL that's currently airing.

Sadly yes, it seems so... :(So I suppose season 2 not gonna have subs neither...
It's not only busy at the moment but also way too hot to just sit in front of the PC or TV with no AC to concentrate on watching a drama or movie.

I definitely wait to watch something until it's completed, not only because I'll never know if that happens, but also because I usually watch an episode or two per day when I'm in the mood, not when a new episode comes out.

I haven't seen many Yorudoras, just Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna, Watashi no Ichiban Saiakuna Tomodachi and VR Ojisan no Hatsukoi I think. But there are some still on my plan to watch list that sound interesting and I haven't even looked at the new ones from this year yet because they weren't reguarly subbed before. Need to catch up on that aswell it seems.

I don't know if GeGeGe no Nyobo was objectively bad because it was pretty successful when it aired I think, but I just hate these "I'm a good wife with no opinions of my own who always apologizes to everyone because my husband is a scumbag" stories.

Somehow I have almost every drama with Mikami Ai on my plan to watch but so far only managed to watch one of them (Haru ni Nattara), so I haven't really formed an opinion about her yet. About Kawai Yumi, I don't know if NHK would cast someone who played mainly late night drama characters and even had nude scenes in a movie as an Asadora heroine, so I'm not sure how high my hopes are for her.

they cause they’re nonbinary
It also says it in her bio here actually, without any proof/context. All this "every second Thai actress is LGBT" without proof (no, someone going to an all-girls school and having a crush on a senior doesn't count) really gets on my nerves to be honest.

I don't know why I didn't get a notification, you even tagged me.

Well, besides that, I also like Imada Mio, I hoped Kawai Yuumi would get to be an Asadora heroine, but Imada Mio is nice aswell. I just hope it's not a second Gegege no Nyobo. That's the absolute worst Asadora in existence (or at least I've watched so far). It basically traumatized me when it comes to Asadora about "a wife of...".
I really need to catch up on my Asadoras, I haven't watched any for a year or so and, I think, Okaeri Mone is the newest I've seen.

If you don't have the app already and accumulated some points to skip the ads, then it's not worth it. The story is ok, but if I need to watch an ad that's as long as the episode itself between almost every episode and then need to take a 24 hour break after every 5th I kind of lose focus and motivation to care much about it. The fact that it's only available on smartphone and there's no possibility to watch it on any other device makes the whole ordeal even worse. Drama itself 6/10, watch experience 0.5/10.

Will be interesting to see how they adapt this as korean version is just over an hour long an episode with 16…
A "standard JDrama" is about 50 minutes per episode. Usually only late night dramas or lower budget manga adaptions have 20+ minutes episodes.

This was the most random drama I watched in a long time. It seemed like ~50 "case of the week" episodes á 10 minutes rather than a completely coherent series. Sure, it followed a main story, but everytime I thought "oh, here's comes a big conflict" it basically solved itself almost immediately. I mean, I'm all for a harmonious stories and all, but then you could have made it a light-hearted romcom instead of a story with 100 problems that weren't problems at all at the end of the day. Story and execution wise probably the weakest Thai GL so far (MelindaBrooks' review is basically my opinion aswell), the only thing I really liked about it was the side couple and the grandparents.

On Teach Me Softly Jun 6, 2025
They're cute and have chemistry, but the series is like if they filmed a lot of different scenes for every episode and then just threw them in the air and cut them together in the order they fell. One scene they're smooching each others faces and are lovey dovey while 10 seconds later they start at 0 again and act surprised if one character flirts with the other. It's cute nonetheless, even if it gives off serious amateur college filmclub vibes.

Title Sassy Season
I could copypaste my comment from "Catch Cat Crush", but this one was at least a bit better. Acting still super shaky, chemistry not really existent and the production is still hurting my eyes, as in almost every other H'our series. It seems like they found their "young energetic girl annoys the older girl next door" niche. Unfortunately it still looks like a middle school girl is crushing on her older sister's college friend and the story was like one second they tease each other, the next one hates the other, the next they are laughing together and find each other cute. I definitely prefer H'ou's other couple's dramas, like "Now It's My Turn". Even if their acting is super shaky aswell, they at least have chemistry together.

On Kururi: Who’s in Love with Me Jun 1, 2025
Really enjoyable drama about self-discovery, but the young rich guy is such a red flag... constantly stalking her at her job, always dragging her along even though she didn't give him an answer (yet), even going so far as to invite himself when she wants to visit her family in another prefecture. He was an absolute out for me, especially because it's kind of romantacized and she's like "he never oversteps boundaries". And all that while she thinks she has a stalker that turns out to be just a misunderstanding. Overall I liked it, even though I prefered the jouney more than the very luke warm destination.
