Half of the tiktok have figured out the kidnapper already. I didn’t want the spoiler ugh
Why even care about the kidnapper 😂
This is the story of a woman who decided to break her husband knowing that he is desperate to ensure that no one figures out who his wife actually is. The kidnapping attempt is just the catalyst which made her realize she can pretty much do anything and her husband will jump as long as there is the possibility of his wife's identity from being exposed.
This is the second time a mdl comment section has motivated me to watch a drama (first was under the queens umbrella-…
"The hidden wife's revenge" would have been the more informative title based on the 2 episodes.
Trapped in a loveless marriage of convenience and bound by a contract to keep her identity as his wife a secret, a womancwith selective mutism (who was married off as a "stand-in" for any woman he eventually publicly declares as his wife) decided to break her husband knowing he is desperate to ensure the public doesn't figure out who his wife is.
"The hidden wife's revenge" would have been a more informative title but would also spoil it.
Because of an attempted kidnapping, she figured out that because no one knows her identity as his wife and he is desperate to keep it a secret, she can pretty much mess with him anonymously.
- Two people married for the sake of convenience. The husband determined to keep his marital status public, but the identity of his wife private and cares more about his career. His mother whose only concern is the upcoming election and wants to ensure the daughter-in law does not cause problems.
The wife, bound by a contract to keep her identity as his wife out of the public, despised by her "husband" and mother-in-law, pressured by her own mother to spread her legs and bear a kid. Her mother brown-nosing with the in-laws and making sure she (her own daughter) doesn't get in the way.
Typical drama about parents prostituting their daughters in order to achieve prestige through her son-in-laws family.
😂 Chinese style clothing? Well duh! They even paid tribute to the Chinese dynasty at the time 😂, adopted Confucianism and writing system. Surely fashion was just as easy to copy
Goryeo being the dynasty prior to Joseon was the dynasty that adopted Confucianism as the national philosophy. Everything that the titular character had to go through is because of that.
I always have reservations when it comes to live-action adaptations of anime because the adaptations tend to be bland in comparison due to several factors - one being that anime language vastly differs from everyday usage. The over-the-top interactions don't translate well into live-action.
To date, the only adaptation I ever enjoyed is the Rurouni Kenshin live action. But what can I do, anime has such a stigma for being a "show for kids" even in this day and age.
I think they cast the actors who fit the bill right up to Takagi's large solar panel of a forehead 😂. I wish they used more instrumental background - I really enjoyed When the weather is fine - and all that the characters did was talk and stare into the distance while great music played. This adaptation could have been better - so far it felt like an indie with the actors just ad libbing and they used the sounds from the shooting location slapping a few musical scores in the process.
TLDR: Dropped at ep 8. A story about the relationship between the disgusting ML in his late 30's throwing tantrums left and right and a long-suffering FL who obdurately refuses to recognize the MLs toxic traits and keeps on entering his lair. No character development even as late as episode 8.
The nitty gritty. The Story The series is another take on that classic nobody and somebody pairing plus a few jealous, money-hungry foils on the side. The nobody who has been through a lot and the somebody who has lived a sheltered life resulting in a stunted emotional development. A love quadrangle.
Execution The comedy in this drama are of its time - Gen Z and Alpha may not appreciate unless they have a really good knowledge of what was considered funny and cute in 2011. The visuals are also from that era when the Hallyu Wave was just peaking with worthwhile stories and passable acting before the public started to obsess with good looks resulting in the current compositions in kdramas.
Characters The characters in this drama takes after the templates of the time: - An ML with the emotional and intelligence quotient of a toddler - all the rage back then. There's something disgusting with a guy in his late 30's sulking and bratting around. - An FL who carried the earth in a quiet long suffering way - a really absorbent character to all the tantrum of the ML and the spite around her. - The antagonist rival whose character will reappear played by the same actress in My Love from the Star - The usual 2ML whose character and fate has not changed much until now.
this is so good!! the rate is really biased, cause during the time of release (aka 2016~17 the golden time of…
😂 You must be new to kdramas. Everything you saw in 2016-2017 already appeared in one form or another during the actual kdrama golden age of lateu1990's to early 2000s. Shin Min Ah being amongst the pioneers of the Hallyu Wave in early 2000's

If you have watched Big Bang Theory, she has the same problem as Raj who can't talk to women unless he is drunk.
