It looks like I’ll be dropping this drama. 😭 I was really looking forward to it because the reuters were so good. The acting from the two leads is pretty solid, and the story is passable, but omg, I just can’t handle the cringey post-production. My brain keeps going: “Why this jump cut? Omg, this framing. Why is the color grading off?” and I can’t turn it off.
Even the dialogue doesn’t feel natural. There’s no world-building or proper character setup. I don’t understand what’s motivating any of the characters’ actions. Why is this throne above everything else? Why does the FL suddenly want absolute power? ☠️ Things just keep coming out of left field.
Its definitely giving higher budget short cdrama vibes but I think its on purpose. In China viewership has declined…
Or they could just write a good story 😒 The reason short dramas are rising is because, narratively, they stick to a tighter structure. But you can still take that structure and create a good long-form story. The problem with long-form dramas isn’t the style itself — it’s the poor writing and execution. AtC is proof that the short-form style doesn’t work well for long-form storytelling.
Idk about weibo or other chinese platform but XTH on twitter r behaving very stupid! They r sabotaging the drama…
XTH have always promoted Tan's characters solo since Xiang Liu. They don't push for CP. But I think there's are alot of fake fans stirring up the fandom to cause problems. It has gotten worse since Filter.
It's not a love triangle. One of them is her ex-fiancé (in the novel the wedding didn't take place), her first…
I've ways felt her relationship with QXS has always been physical attraction first, so the sweet moments don't happen because there's so much tension in the space between them. But her relationship with ZYH started sweet and innocent, so it stayed the status quo.
The ML fans were jealous of them kissing so they started harassing her, saying she was unprofessional using edited…
No one is jealous...🤣🤣🤣🤣
Us older fans know the hate was a manufacturered bait and switched to villianize Tan and cause fandom wars between the fandoms. Could be anyone at this point 🥴 But yeah keep on hating cus that's what the real haters want anyways.
Dude, these are some serious accusations. You cannot just post one side of the story. We get it that you are fans,…
The SH allegations are serious AND they have been thrown at her costars. There are lots of screenshots from her fans (bots included) and big accounts all over Weibo.
Looks like the black marketing has entered its next phase. Now the narrative is shifting toward portraying the actress as the victim of XTH bullying. The ragebaiting feels intentional — provoke XTH fans, wait for reactions, then flip the story into “look how toxic they are.” 🥴
At this point, it honestly feels like the objective was to manufacture a cyberbullying narrative from the very beginning.
3rd point, i knew. But HMH wasn't accused of SH, he is instead still shipped with her heavily, with delusional…
I don’t believe the rumors either, but it doesn’t hurt to stay vigilant because fandom wars sometimes spill over here on MDL, and it can be exhausting. I’ve learned to be extra careful because of that.
As for Hou Minghao, there were allegations, but they didn’t gain much traction because the CP fans were too loud, and it got drowned out.
Some of the more toxic fan accounts have already started, too. Like that chick cooleria (or whatever how it's spelled) pushing a lot of negativity and trying to spread “black marketing” style narratives on the project page. And the other day I also saw a bot-like post accusing Tan of a non-consensual kiss scene in *I Miss You* without any context, which felt very out of place and misleading. So the smear campaign has already started.
These are just my thoughts, and I hope this gives newer fans or passersby a little more context. I am genuinely still happy and excited for DWTT.
As an international fan, I usually try to stay away from this kind of fandom drama, but sometimes it really feels unfair to someone like Tan, who worked incredibly hard to get where he is. That’s why I try to stay vigilant about these situations. I’m not going to let haters gaslight me. The whole point of these bullying tactics is to make people second-guess their decision to support an actor. Their goal is simple: if someone stops supporting him, great. If they start supporting the other party instead, then the mission is accomplished.
The drama over on Weibo and XHS between XTH and LYX fans is not because XTH fans are toxic, but because they're reacting to and pushing back against bullying from LYX's fandom.
1. Allegedly, XTH fans noticed that the other side has been reposting XTH videos without credit, removing watermarks, and blurring Tan's face. Older fans think this is being done intentionally to ragebait younger and more impressionable XTH fans so things can be blown out of proportion. A lot of XTH fans are actually urging people not to engage.
2. Allegedly, rumors about LYX being late and making people wait for her have popped up during the filming of Love in the Clouds and Love Between the Lines. Rumors also claim that Hou Minghao regularly didn’t leave filming until 3 a.m., while Chen Xingxu was allegedly forced to wait all night because she went to a concert against the filming schedule. Now rumors are also starting to pop up that Tan and the production crew are being forced to wait and deal with delays on her behalf as well, which is feeding the unprofessional allegations.
3. Her fans have also been accusing three of her co-stars of sexual harassment — like Cheng Lei, Hou Minghao, and Chen Xingxu. XTH fans are now guessing Tan may be the next target. Considering Hou Minghao became extremely ill near the end of filming for Love in the Clouds and still filmed parts of another project while sick, this honestly pisses me off.
Allegedly, LYX's agency’s parent company is iQIYI, so there are claims that the three co-stars were given gag orders and were unable to respond to the sexual harassment allegations. XTH fans who are being vigilant are reportedly gathering evidence so that if these tactics continue, they’ll have documentation to push back with facts instead of rumors.
Sexual harassment should never be taken lightly, and when fans start accusing every male co-star under the sun, it undermines real survivors. I’m definitely not impressed by these tactics.
Casting this ML backfired on the drama. His fans keep mocking and criticizing Lu Yuxiao, even though the story…
OMGaD why are you still here KAREN?! Is the grass on your side not fishy enough for your shrimp life? is there not enough 💩 at the bottom of your abysmal fandom to match your appetite, so you have to come here and make some.
Have you seen his Xiang Liu / Fang Feng Bei in Lost You Forever? That's generally considered his break out costume…
ZWY actually didn't benefit from LYF as much as they had anticipated. It was Tan Jianci who did. Tencent even gave him a international virtual meet and greet livestream.
