One thing this show does well is to show how much Zhang Zhun wants Zhen Xin. In this kind of narrative, it would be very cliched to show Zhun’s character as being overly concerned about societal judgment, or be all self sacrificial about the relationship so as to not drag Xin down. Though there is one such moment in this episode, Zhun still overcomes it. Throughout the series, he has always accepted his feelings for Xin quite readily. He ditched his gf pretty easily instead of dragging that poor girl along for ages (Danyi seems to be bearding out of her own free will, Zhun has been quite clear with her). That’s not usually how this kind of plot develops.

Yeah the power dynamic is uneven but it clearly works for both of them. The only thing LQ did wrong was to bring his friend to the dinner and not give XF a clear explanation. His taciturn nature worked against him there. And Ziyang is a busybody, but he also brought them together. Clearly, neither was happy without the other.

If LQ ever opens up and fully reassures XF of his place in LQ’s heart and in his life, these two will live happily ever after. Yeah, they will continue to do the dom sub thing, but they both like it, so who is anyone else to object.

International BL audiences don’t understand the concept of slice of life stories. The plot is the daily lives of this group of people, that’s all.

I remember the same complaints about “We Are”. And both these shows are very popular domestically. Not all shows will be to everyone’s taste, and that’s okay.

I had such second hand embarrassment during the bus scene. Actors are so strong for not cringing during acting

I like it, it’s an entertaining show. I wish ZhangZhun’s actor were able to emote more. He’s not bad but his face is not very expressive, it’s hard to tell sometimes which feelings he’s trying to convey.

Zhen Xin is a cutie lol

Ugh, you are a troll always spamming comment sections randomly. You’re the one who is obsessed with hating Ryu. I’m blocking you, others should do too.

I really don’t understand why they treat Toto’s job like that. Being a medic, rescuing people is not something…
Cultural difference, this was discussed a few times on this page and elsewhere as well. The job is lowly paid and the rescuers are mostly not well trained, so those with lower education levels can also go into this profession. Seems like in Thailand the reputation of rescuers are as street punks

The director’s interview snippets which came out were quite interesting.

Some highlights I saw on my TL: New almost acts as the intimacy coordinator and choreographs the NC scenes, New embodies the more feminine gestures of Kanit’s character as Jojo envisioned, Tay is more spontaneous and better embodies Toto(who is quite different to him) the more tired he is so he forgets to overthink, TayNew is super popular with advertisers hence this show has like 10 sponsors, according to the metrics the company/channel tracks, this show is doing very well.

I’m confused about the timeline, can someone explain? So after two years, do they reconnect when XF goes to LQ to ask him for help regarding his parents’ visit? Or do they reconnect during the birthday scene?

So basically, does XF initiate the rekindling or is it LQ? I hope it’s the former, it will give XF some more initiative in their relationship.

XF is a doormat, yes, but he is also not afraid to own up to his feelings. He does want LQ and is able to express his desires, however timidly. Also, their relationship is not a regular one but the dominant submissive thing clearly works for both of them.

Luxin is into LQ, yes? Her behavior is weird towards him 🫤

There is nothing in this series that suggests it was created by a man, let alone a gay man.On the contrary, the…
The way that you are disregarding effeminate gay men is disgusting and homophobic. Only masculine gay men count in your eyes? You sound highly bigoted.

So I’m a bit confused about the last episode because some of the dialogues were not translated, or translated a bit circuitously. Like the scene with Pakin, what was the point of that? Why does Sun go to Jay again and tell him he’s worried about the CEO targeting him later in the second evening? Sun already knew that Arthur could be blamed for the Penneung thing, he was worried that’s why he went to see him the first day itself. The flow of the episode during the first half was a bit weird tbh.

Second half was great though. Jay continues to attempt to pry open Sun’s facade in various ways, seducing him physically but also emotionally when he admits how it hurts him when Sun acts so nonchalant. Then the whole shooting sequence and finally Jay sending the message through the script change that Sun deserves the right to feelings and to live his life.

What is the message he sees in his phone from Jay, in the rain?

I love taynew from the bottom of my heart. Watching their series like dark blue kiss and peaceful property really…
I agree, they would perform a meaty script so well! The problem is gmmtv almost never does that kind of emotional, dark series. They market themselves as the producer of feel good series aimed at teenagers.

I do hope their next show could be in that genre, because they haven’t done that kind of serious themed series before and TayNew really do mix up genres in the shows they choose. DBK was a youth drama/telenovela, Cherry Magic a soft romance, Peaceful Property a horror comedy, now ADAAP is a raunchy romcom. So yeah, what missing from their repertoire is a serious, intense, emotional drama. Or a dark thriller. Hopefully their next show is in those genres.

This series is a classic melodrama. All the characters are archetypes of the genre and behave exactly as expected. It has all the cliche story beats, the childhood friendship growing into forbidden love, the sacrificing love for family expectations, the return of the lover, social/political tensions, etc etc. I am not surprised by anything that happens in the show but I enjoy all of it. As a het love story, this would be such a cliched narrative, but the BL aspect makes it stand out. It’s such a thoroughly enjoyable show.

The prince is the standout of course, but Phob is doing very well too. He had very good chemistry with Chet the Wicked Game too, looks like that’s his especial skill, to be hopelessly in love with his master in every narrative.

Dan needs to take a hint. Him saying “you don’t really wanna break up” in the next episode, when it was clear LJ didn’t even want to date him in the first place. Like Dan is just disregarding the signs that LJ is not into him, he never enthusiastically consents to anything in relation to Dan.

I did like the scene where Patrick Jane backs off when Jane asks if he is having fun. Like no, even if Patrick were a demon or whatever, forcing the one you love is never fun.

They stopped at the best scene! The rest of the episode was kinda silly. This show is silly overall, but it’s entertaining, so that’s the most important thing 🤷‍♀️

Dan is such a useless character, they could’ve just combined him with Put and made them a single character. Why did LJ go to the exhibition in pajamas lmao. And the scene where LJ goes to his brother and Dan just stands there like 🧍the pacing is weird, the scenes don’t always flow well.

The show is not well written and the characters are mostly weak and not memorable (except Patrick Jane) but it serves what I’m here for, which is the dynamic between the two. What torments will that man put Little Jane through? Can’t wait to watch lol

The irony of Toto telling Kanit that if Kanit were Toto’s bf he wouldn’t need to try so hard, he would be loved as it is. And now he’s working himself to the bone to prove himself worthy of being Kanit’s bf, even though Kanit loves him as he is! 😩 we demand too unreasonably of ourselves when we never would from the ones we love.

Once again, such great characterisation.
