The irony of Toto telling Kanit that if Kanit were Toto’s bf he wouldn’t need to try so hard, he would be loved as it is. And now he’s working himself to the bone to prove himself worthy of being Kanit’s bf, even though Kanit loves him as he is! 😩 we demand too unreasonably of ourselves when we never would from the ones we love.

Once again, such great characterisation.

This is such an adult show, in the sense that the characters seem like real people. The plot is simple, but the characterisation is much stronger than in usual BLs.

In a regular BL, the jealousy and breakup arc would’ve been dragged out. Toto would act super surprised that Por had a crush on him. Kanit would break Toto’s heart harshly “for his own good”. But here the character motivations make sense because this entire episode shows the journey the characters must undertake to become stronger.

Kanit feels unworthy of affection, because of insecurities stemming from his father and being cheated on . He thinks being with him is exhausting, so taking a break on his own terms is better. In other BLs the scene with Por would’ve been a whole ass drama, here Kanit is jealous but also never thinks Toto could cheat.

Toto has struggled for everything in life. Being abandoned by his mother means he strives to cling onto everything he has left. He looks at everything as a challenge he has to overcome. Even when Kanit expresses concern for his health, Toto takes it as criticism and vows to fight and do better.

The way they talk to each other futilely at the airport and talk clearly later in the car illustrates their character qualities so well. That’s what I mean by this being such an adult BL, the way the characters are written are very realistic. You can actually follow along their journey so well.

It was clear from the trailer that this would be a raunchy romcom targeted mostly towards domestic audiences. It has succeeded in that, but it’s also great how mature the characterisation is.

So GL stans have a one sided feud going on with Jojo? People are so jobless for real. They called him homophobic slurs, told him to leave directing and become a “housewife” (internalized misogyny is so toxic), ran him off social media, and now because they are running out of ideas to attack him, they are coming to this page to leave negative comments here.

Like, sure Girl Rules was a flop, but what does that have to do with the Dog and the Plane’s success? Go blame the GR writers on that show’s page.

Not only the couple fans but also general audiences love this show. They cannot attack the acting by any means, so the only avenue of the haters is to leave extremely vague criticism, without being able to justify or specify their criticism. Just observe how these 4-5 negative comments follows the exact same phrasing “the director is awful, the editing is bad, there is no depth, gmmtv has given low budget”. It’s so easy to catch the pattern, because they are not clever enough to troll intelligently.

All I can say is, good luck to y’all and hope you find peace. If you think a couple of negative MDL comments has any impact at all on the success and reception of a series, no wonder you have such a poor grasp on reality.

This is simply untrue that a lot of gmmtv lead or even supporting actors are at Tee’s level. Only Dunk in gmmtv…
This is such a random assortment of actor names that I don’t even know what to say. Well, you are entitled to your opinion of course but you should know that only a very minuscule percentage of viewers will agree with you, since you seem to have a very different way of perceiving acting than majority of the audience

And gmmtv gets ragged on the most because it’s the biggest and most popular BL company. It’s the privilege of being the leader.

While a lot of slop is successful as well, on average a higher quality show is more likely to be successful. So even if you did not mention success, that is relevant to commentary about quality.

You are entitled to your personal opinion of course, that’s the entire purpose of this forum. What I am commenting on is the irony of you stating this at the moment when the shows airing right now are acknowledged by the majority to be of high quality. Also, putting this in the comment section of a show which is so well received by not only hardcore fans but also general audience.

Also, I never mentioned OF2, which aired much earlier in the year, I am referring to the recent lineup.

Eh, I get you. I like toxic romance in fiction and I expect and even want JP to do dark shit, but some actions…
Every series has a right to depict anything the creator wants, just as every viewers has the right to criticise.

If this series was made with the intention to have Big Jane be an out and out psychopath, of course anything goes. Hell, make him a cannibal and a p*edo while they are at it, that would truly make him unsettling and make people ill at ease. But the intention of the show, by the end of it, is not to turn people off the romance completely.

So again, it depends on where people draw the line. For some viewers, yes, the callous use of physical assault of a female character to advance the story of two male characters, is off putting.

There is nothing in this series that suggests it was created by a man, let alone a gay man.On the contrary, the…
Why should femininity characteristics in gay men be considered as offensive and unacceptable? You do realize plenty of gay men have effeminate characteristics? To consider that unacceptable sounds not only homophobic but also tinged with misogyny.

And the director is a gay man. A lot of the characterisation, costuming, scene framing is from the gay male gaze 🤷‍♀️

Why is it for other pairs when one chose another its seen as the most romantic gesture of the century but its…
Not every viewer is parasocial about actors’ personal relationship and they will judge a show purely on its artistic merits.

The ghost ship thing was astroturfed because Dew wanted to do a duo show with Tee. The company clearly had doubts about this duo because at one point, after Tee stepped away from MMP to start building this partnership, he did a live saying he was not sure if he would have work.

All of that is to say, if the show is good, nothing else matters and a duo or ship will be successful. But if the show or acting is weak, non parasocial viewers won’t be forgiving for irrelevant reasons.

One of my favorite things about following actors is getting to witness their growth.Dew is a great example of…
No offense, but as viewers there is literally no reason to care about actors’ real life friendship. All I care about is their performance and chemistry onscreen. So no, the fact that the two leads are friends offscreen does not make this special to me at all. It makes me question why someone got a role they are not suited for. Nepotism and parasocialism is not good for art.

No one is owed a lead role, especially when they have not demonstrated their ability even in significant supporting roles. There is no reason for viewers to extend special grace.

I really don't get people shitting on Tee's acting when a lot of GMMTV actors are (were) on his level 😅Makes…
This is simply untrue that a lot of gmmtv lead or even supporting actors are at Tee’s level. Only Dunk in gmmtv is a super weak and stiff actor, and even Dunk was well received by a large chunk of viewers in HeartKillers.

Now are people being more relatively more harsh on Tee than Dunk because of Dunk’s face card? Sure, pretty privilege is prevalent everywhere and especially in the entertainment industry.

Even leaving aside looks, why would people go easy on Tee? No one is owed a lead role and if an actor took on a lead role and can’t perform adequately, they will face criticism, that’s only natural.

Plenty of people pointed out flaws in Dare You to Death. This what aboutism does not work.

This is a public forum. If you are triggered by people commenting with valid criticism or even their personal subjective opinions, this forum is not meant for you.

There are a lot of ways to effectively depict tension without depicting certain actions. Yes, this is toxic fiction and I do expect toxicity, but a certain brand of toxicity. For example, let’s say PJ was shown to endorse child abuse or animal abuse, would majority of the viewers still be able to distance themselves and enjoy the show, because he’s called out as a red flag? Because it’s not like the show will not have romance later on, it will continue to build up the love story. You personally can view this as purely as a horror series, but that’s not what the show’s intention is.

It depends on where one draws the line.

Eh, I get you. I like toxic romance in fiction and I expect and even want JP to do dark shit, but some actions are a specific type of nasty which take you out of the show because of the real world parallels. Same feeling I had about Chi Cheng ordering his boytoy to be gang r*ped. I am gonna ignore this Jui subplot in this show like I ignored that subplot in RL, for my enjoyment.

Also, even more than JP saying that, it’s the students standing around seeing her getting beaten up, it left a bad taste in my mouth.

why have majority of gmmtv bls have become so sloppy now? everything just feels so rushed now
Saying this at the moment while gmmtv is putting out one of their strongest lineups? TTH and Wu just ended, both were well received and topped the online platform. When Oranges fall is very well liked, one of Gmmtv’s most acclaimed school dramas. EWB was a success and topped its online platform. Dog and Plane is well received and successful TV rating wise, plus topped its online platform. Peach and Me, no words needed.

Bait used to be believable 🙁

I don't think so. After ep5 when Kanit decided to not have sex since they need time to know each other better…
But you also have to consider Asian vs Western culture differences though. Asian culture and society is typically more sexually modest than Western countries. Even for men, it’s not unusual to have relatively few partners and be sexually intimate only in serious relationships. Also Kanit in particular is more of a demure and less promiscuous type.

Same with the issue of children. Family bonding is placed extremely high in Asian culture, having children is also a form of filial responsibility.

The issue about Toto providing for Kanit, yeah that’s a typical seme uke thing popular in Thailand. But one can also argue that’s something particular to Kanit’s dad being a snob about socioeconomic status and class. If Kanit’s brother brought home a poor girl of a lower class, he very likely would have been ticked off as well.

This is an entertaining dynamic to watch for sure lol. Beautiful man redux, yes.

Bratty, spoiled prince uke who is secretly vulnerable and has a soft side. Obsessed, attack dog, thirsty seme who wants nothing more than to follow his prince’s orders. This is a peak yaoi dynamic.

This is very popular domestically and SEA, though it’s also doing well in countries in Americas and a few European nations. So depends on what your FYP is tuned to.

Plus, the target audience is older so they dont trend as much as younger fans, the buying power is probably higher though lol

The premise, the OST, and the filming are so good, especially the tense moments, but the storyline and especially…
The main reason is physical attraction lol. Then yeah, Little Jane rejects the contract, he doesn’t bend over backwards for Big’s favor like the others do, he is smart and talented at stuff like painting, soccer, etc (competence is attractive), he is kind and shows care for Big, who doesn’t seem to have people in his life doing that.

I understand these two dating more than I did in Double Helix, because that relationship just started midway without any explanation.
