Ariel Alba is a university professor, journalist and film critic, specializing in Asian and global LGBT+ film and television. He is a frequent writer at Hancinema, Taste of Cinema, and his writing can be found in other publications including SIRP in Estonia, Film.sk in Slovakia, Asian Dialogue in the UK, Cinefil in Japan, among others. He is an active collaborator of the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), of Spain, and the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry, of Cuba. Since 2018, he has been cooperating with the Cuban Cinematheque, curating several tributes to Asian and world cinema with LGBT+ themes and the Havana Latin American Film Festival, especially its program "The Colors of Diversity", the collateral exhibition of said cinematographic event. dedicated to LGBT+ productions. He has participated, with video recordings and texts, in numerous premieres of Asian LGBT+ films, for Spectrum, Dekanalog and Error 4444. He has contributed as an expert to the Erasmus+ program, “Asian Cinema Education”, of the Asian Cinema Education International. He teaches courses in Journalism and Film Criticism. 
In addition to being a member of FIPRESCI and the Spanish Association of the Film Press (AEPRECI) and the Cuban Association of the Film Press (ACPC), he is also a member of the Online Film Critics Association.
