In my opinion, and this is no shade, but it's genuinely one of the best historical cdramas in a long time, feels very unique, the pacing, storytelling, cinematography, music and acting all top notch. And the fl character is very unique. Hopefully it can keep it up

One character that I feel is a little overlooked by people right now is the consort dowager, like I honestly can't get a good read on her. She acts all loyal and stuff to the empress dowager but there just no way she actually is. Looking forward to seeing how she develops.

Damn I totally forgot about her, to be fair though in the novel she doesn't cause any misunderstandings I don't think as ml and fl both see right through her, I really hope it's the same here. I can totally see ml and fl both playing with her and messing with her like pretend fighting mean while she thinks she's the smart one.

Oh yeh when the leaves were all blowing and ml was getting ready to raid the place, so good. All the composers for the music overall have done an unreal job in this drama

Honestly when used well I really like when a character looks straight into the camera, and in ep 15, with bai Lu's acting as well, when ye li stared straight into the camera I felt that in my soul like damn

Theres a rumor that it's a tencent modern romance, a pretty spicy story from the rumors I saw but nothing confirmed yet. But from what I've heard she has confirmed it will definitely be a modern romance drama.

Of all the changes made compared to the novel, one of the best has to the kid step brother, I love his relationship with fl so adorable

Overall some fire episodes today, honestly somehow it keeps getting better and better so far

I have to say I agree with AtsukoM's above comment, I think you're feeling exactly what they want the viewers too be feeling/thinking, exactly what makes fl so layered, unsure if she is acting genuine or not and who exactly is the real ye li is. Great job on both script and acting I think, I also do think we'll get a proper healing and resolution arc for sure, and I think the relationship will truly bloom after that.

Oh nice quote and very true, and yeh it helped relate the leads together a lot more, showed their similarities in their experiences which was very enjoyable

Ep 13 the later half is heart breaking. First when fl talks about lishan mountain you can already suspect somethings up, seems like somewhere deep down subconsciously she knows the truth but her mind blocks it out making up stories instead, talking about paying go by herself, doing all the chores by herself, on top of earlier details like why would a mountain full of people over run by monkeys, hinting at something a lot of us suspect.

Then seeing ml's anger and emotion after that, that was so well acted, completely understand why he's hurt and finds it so hard to trust people.

Definitely completely agree, was not expecting ml's perspective to be that long and detailed and really focused on so I was surprised and enjoyed that very much. I also like the layers and character depth, how even a small side character like the father you mentioned had emotional weight. I like how they add small side stories like that, that are emotional but also intriguing and engaging. It's the small details like that, that make this drama very engaging so far I think.
