That's why it don't make sense. Why not bomb them in the first place (especially the king) and see if Ruyi could escape afterwards because that's why she is an assassin, she always goes for the main kill first for less casualties. I felt like the ending was kind of rushed. At first, before any spoilers I assumed the wedding scene would have been the last scene of the drama because judging the way how LTG would be...I imagined him to take advantage of the situation later and not during his regent status/going to war time like Ruyi could have thought that NYZ died during the war and when LTG became regent through power and through defeating Beipan's forces, forced Ruyi to marry him. I imagine NYZ coming in and saving Ruyi and off they go to marry and live happily ever after.

True. I think I would have been hesistant at the beginning too, but because I'm a big fan of both leads...regardless of the ending, I would have started the drama - deciding to stop at ep 34 or finish it all the way would have came later 😂.

Interesting. I've seen her older works too, but I feel like in here she's improved way more because while she's a cold person, I can still see her emotions through her eyes, they're expressive. Usually, when people think of a cold person, they just put on a cold face and no emotions. Even ML mentions that FL is like a puppet meaning she's a closed off person and doesn't know anything else besides killing and following demands so I would expect for her character to show less of any normal reactions that normal people with normal childhood would show.

What do you mean by like stiff and unnatural? Like her posture or her expression? If posture then usually Chinese old style martial artists have this straight posture which is what LSS is protraying and she's doing it correctly. If you mean expression then her character is a cold blooded assassin so she won't show much facial expression in the beginning, but still her eyes are already expressive as you can see fierceness, softness, later angry, happiness, and sadness.

Like someone says, try Mysterious Lotus Casebook. Very, very good bromance! At times, it can be a bit slow at the beginning, but everything starts to unfold slowly and weave everything together, and it gets really good.

The show could have also stopped where both leads made the promise to eachother to not die because what LTG did afterwards was just nonsense.

And then, sneak to their wedding scene and stop there. They got married and lived happily! 😄

Sad how the writer decided to make an ending like this so now people are hesitant to finish or even start the drama and will miss how good this show would have been.

I agree! It would have made it more impactful if she died together with him or just give them a happy ending! Leads were too smart to meet a demise ending. With their intelligence, they could have survived.

Yes, their deaths are just sad. I still hate the ending and it traumatizes me. Both leads pretty much confirmed in Weibo that they are dead too. I wished our leads, Shisan, and Yuan Lu could have lived because honestly, they didn't really need to die.

My thoughts on the ending:
To Ruyi, she didn't believe that there is life beyond death, but Yuanzhou believes there is. We see at the end, Chu Yue is possibly dead which is why she's able to see RY & NYZ's son and hears about them. In the end, Chu Yue joins them in heaven together. They are all together in heaven, a life beyond death.
