Major disappointment

I initially watched this for a couple of supporting actors. Very happy to see them, I wasn't disappointed. HOWEVER, I ended up skipping through a huge portion of it simply because I couldn't stand the ML. Don't know if it's the character (bland and boring) or the actor (haven't seen him in anything else and really don't want to), but I couldn't get any feeling for the lead couple. I've never had such antipathy towards a couple, and I've seen dozens of them. It's worth seeing some storylines again, but not often.

Stupid

Stupid right out of the gate. Couldn't date anyone for three years because of a one night stand? Tell me how that's supposed to be believable. And the whole "mom was a porn star" angle is equally ridiculous. Mediocre acting, bad dialogue- at least the sea scenery is good. Definitely worth missing. ..............................................................................................

Flashbacks

I detest flashbacks. I particularly loathe a show that relies so heavily on digging into and regurgitating the past. Touch on the main points and get on with it. Do I really need to know who ate what at the cafeteria? Not enough time spent developing the present. I really wanted to like this, but watching is really painful.

Boring

I only watched this because I like a few of the leads. Couldn't finish it.

First, I dislike shows that try too hard to be funny. The "funny" scenes were not. It felt a little bit like slapstick. Not amusing.

Second, the storyline was an endless repeating loop. It got boring quickly.

Most of the acting was good. Unfortunately, they really didn't have much to work with.

Okay, not great

I expected nothing, didn't know any of the cast.
I have to admit that I come back to this show once or twice a year. Skip through a lot, finish in a couple of hours.
The unexpected pairing of Chef John and Jiwan is the only reason to watch, really. He's such an arrogant a-hole and she's so naive. I wish they had more screen time, would have loved to see that relationship grow and deepen.
I did find a couple of other shows to watch by a couple of the actors, but, honestly, this felt like a throwaway drama by throwaway actors.
Overall, very disappointing.

Nice

I dropped in on this drama on a whim, not really expecting much. So far, it's better than expected.

First and foremost is the outdoor cinematography. I don't think I have ever seen a more beautiful area.

Surprised by how many actors I already knew. Pleased to have found new ones to follow.

However, can anyone tell me why it's so difficult to find who plays Aiyixia? Forty-five minutes online searching and all I can find are very few entries and only in Chinese.

Can't anyone be original?

I saw a recommendation for this in the reviews for another show. So far it's pretty solid.

But, I swear, if I see another drowning scene, I'm going to flip out. First of all, it's been overdone. Seems like 90% of old China dramas have a drowning scene. And it's never realistic. How are their hair and clothing dry, wrinkle free, and perfectly styled five minutes after coming out of the water? Why does the hero not remove his cape and shoes, both hazardous when attempting a rescue? Anyone can tell it's done on dry land and the "water" is added later.

And, of course, three or four men swoon over the FL. Also an overdone trope. Honestly, aren't we sick of the same 3 or 4 scenes considering recycled?

However, I was pleasantly surprised by the leads. I was unfamiliar with them. I especially enjoyed aren't Min, she's cute without being nauseating. I will be checking out her other work. Ci Asha in another great addition to my library of actors. These two are the reason i put up with the nonsense scenes.

BS on top of BS

First of all, I wish China would get with the rest of the world and stop fetishizing mental illness. At least portray them honestly. It's an illness, nut a trope.
Second, bipolar disorder is NOT caused by traumatic injuries to the head as in a car accident. Nor is bipolar disorder "cured." It's a life long illness, like diabetes or epilepsy. Instead of taking the opportunity to educate the audience, no, let's play up all the incorrect stereotypes. This does a huge disservice to those who actually suffer from this disorder.
Third, the ML is not exhibiting symptoms of bipolar disorder, he's just an a-hole with a 24/7/365 crappy personality. Symptoms of mania/hypomania don't exist at all times, and most are far more subtle than the heavy handed "acting" of the ML. Suggestion: actually research the disorder before seeking to convince the audience, because you didn't do much of a job this time. On a scale of 1-10, I give it a 4 because I'm feeling generous.
The FL is at least more believable, and she's cute. Unfortunately, not enough to save this show.

Ridiculous

Am I missing something? Have Korean dramas really become this bad? I can't think of a single one in the last couple of years that I could even finish. And this one, I could barely start.

I read the reviews but was feeling generous, so I started watching. Not 5 minutes in, I was already skipping through.

The FL is even more of a one dimensional character than usual. And I feel nothing for the character. If I see one more 30 year old with the emotional IQ of a toddler I'll swear off k dramas forever. Older characters can be so interesting if done right, but this production doesn't even try.

Back to C dramas. At least there's more variety.

Boring

"Drama" it is not.

It's the same old story told a thousand times. Unfortunately, I can't find enough redeeming qualities to keep me watching.

Yes, the fact that the leads aren't in their early twenties is a nice change. But neither of them is at all appealing. Come on, we KNOW there's eye candy out there in their thirties and forties. "Love is For Suckers" comes to mind.

Evil mother, evil sister-in-law, m/f besties dating behind your back, unplanned pregnancy after a one night stand you can't forget..at least there's no time travel or malevolent spirits.

Glad I didn't expect much. At least I'm not too disappointed l

Boring!

I went into drama with high hopes. However, the only part that was good is the first episode with the child actors.

I kept waiting for the series to start. There was no chemistry, no electricity, no forward motion. All four of the lead characters are flat, one dimensional. I really like a couple of the actors and was really surprised.

Can we address the violence for violence's sake? What is the point? WHO is it aimed at? What kind of audience is this series looking for? All we needed is an SA to make it truly revolting.

Chinese dramas have been getting worse over the last year or so. This one tops the charts for BAD.

Age related confusion

Why does Chinese drama insist on casting someone in their 30s to play a 17 year old? It's so incredibly annoying to try to force my brain to accept something that is so visibly untrue. FL is pretty, a good actress - and obviously not a teenager. I don't think it's enough to make me stop watching but it ruins the overall feeling.

But...a new favorite actor! How is it that in all my years of watching C-dramas I have never before encountered Yu En Tai? The man has a face like a rubber mask, emotions changing quickly and effortlessly. And the subtle crazy look was terrifying! I am in awe.

An earlier review stated this needed more episodes and I agree. It felt very rushed in the last five or so episodes and the ending was unsatisfying. Would I watch again? Except for a couple of exceptional actors, I doubt it. But I don't feel I wasted my time.

Oh, please...

This is the second time I've tried to watch this. The basic premise is that an average woman is somehow so irresistible. Who are they trying to kid? Neither of the leads is attractive, let alone someone that stops traffic.

I can't comment on the acting ability of the leads. Frankly, I found the FL unbelievable and extremely insufferable. The male lead, I just can't say.

I don't think I can get through another episode let alone the entire show. Can't say that too often.

Ugh

What has happened to Chinese drama? Are we only getting the dregs in the US?

Third rate acting. The feeling of everyone trying too hard. Nothing feels natural.

Lack of chemistry between the leads. Could have just picked up strangers on the street and dressed them up.

Script and dialogue scream "High school drama." Are professional writers really hard to find?

Not even going to try to watch any more of this. Except for the sets, everything about this is first year college level.

Should have read the reviews first.

I really like Ren Jia Lun, have enjoyed performances of several others in the cast in other shows. Bit lukewarm about Peng Xiao Ran, probably because I've only seen her once before in a not great role. All in all, I was looking forward to this drama.

BUT! Did a 12 year old write the script? So stilted, so cringe. Honestly, how did the writer convince a studio that this was good writing? No, I'm not a writer but I know what a good script sounds like. This isn't it.

When I can't get through the first episode without jumping out every few minutes I know it's not going to get better. I refuse to torture myself by watching good actors struggle.

By the way, was Ren I'll during filming? He looks gaunt.
