They changed the world around them, but never managed to change where their hearts belonged.

I genuinely don't know how to start this without sounding emotionally unstable, because what the hell was that?

I went into The Edge of Horizon expecting a beautiful historical BL with forbidden romance, yearning, pretty costumes and probably some emotional pain because historical romances apparently cannot let people be happy for more than five minutes.

What I did NOT expect was for this drama to become the first drama in my life to actually make me cry.

And I mean genuinely cry.

Not watery eyes. Not the “damn, that's sad” reaction. ACTUAL TEARS
Episode 11 completely destroyed me, but I'll get to that emotional crime later.

For me, what made *The Edge of Horizon* special was not simply its story. It was the way it made me feel the relationship between Tin and Phob. Their love never felt rushed or suddenly forced upon the audience. It felt like history. Like something that existed long before we entered their lives.

And that made everything hurt so much more.

STORY- 10/10

I loved how this drama understood that love doesn't always need to be loud.

Sometimes the most powerful romance is simply two people looking at each other like they've spent years trying to forget something their hearts refuse to let go of.

The story had familiar elements- class differences, forbidden love, family pressure and political conflict- but the emotional execution worked incredibly well for me. The historical and political backdrop also felt connected to the characters instead of existing only as decoration. A country was changing, old systems were being challenged, and at the same time these characters were questioning the roles they had been assigned from birth.

That parallel was one of my favourite parts.

Tin and Phob's relationship wasn't only forbidden because of who they loved, but also because of hierarchy, duty and the worlds they came from. Between them, titles didn't matter. But outside their private moments, the entire world constantly reminded them that they were supposed to be different.

The story isn't perfect. There are familiar tropes and a few pacing moments that could have been tighter. But emotionally? It got me.

And honestly, sometimes that's what matters most.

THE ROMANCE & YEARING- 10/10

The yearning in this drama deserves its own rating because HOW were these two capable of causing emotional damage just by looking at each other?

The chemistry between Ongsa and Inn was one of the strongest parts of the drama for me. Their relationship didn't depend only on physical intimacy. Sometimes the most romantic scenes were the quiet ones- standing close, almost touching, looking away because looking for too long would reveal too much.

A glance carried memories.

Silence carried years.

Distance carried everything they had lost.

And I absolutely loved that.

The drama made ordinary moments feel incredibly meaningful. Watching them simply exist together, laugh or enjoy a moment of peace felt almost more romantic than grand declarations. Those scenes gave us a glimpse of the life they could have had if the world had simply left them alone.

Which, of course, made me anxious because this drama apparently considers happiness a temporary subscription.

Their love felt lived in. It felt like they knew each other beyond romance. They remembered versions of each other that existed before duty, politics and responsibility changed everything.

And I think that's why their connection felt so powerful.

They weren't just lovers.

They were witnesses to each other's lives.

ACTING/CAST- 10/10

Inn and Ongsa absolutely carried the emotional weight of this relationship.

Their chemistry felt natural enough that I never felt like I was watching two actors trying to convince me that their characters were in love. I believed them.

And THE EYES of TIN

My God.

Somebody explain why these two could have entire conversations without saying anything.

This story depends heavily on emotional restraint because the characters can't always say what they feel or act on what they want. The actors had to communicate everything underneath the surface and they did that beautifully.

Tin's vulnerability especially stood out to me. Despite being surrounded by privilege, he often felt emotionally trapped inside a life he didn't fully choose. Phob, meanwhile, carried a different kind of conflict- freedom, loyalty and responsibility constantly pulling him in different directions.

The supporting cast also added so much to the story. Even the characters I wanted to personally fight had performances that made their emotions believable. Family conflict didn't always come from simple hatred; sometimes it came from fear, pride, jealousy and tradition.

That complexity made the pain hit harder.

MUSIC- 10/10

The soundtrack deserves an apology from me because I now associate certain emotional songs with suffering.

The music fit the atmosphere perfectly. It knew exactly when to stay quiet and exactly when to enter and emotionally stab me.

By the later episodes, I had developed genuine anxiety whenever certain music started playing because I knew something emotionally suspicious was probably about to happen.

So yes.

Beautiful soundtrack.

Also partly responsible for my tears.

CINEMATOGRAPHY & PRODUCTION- 10/10

This drama is genuinely gorgeous.

The costumes, palace interiors, landscapes and historical atmosphere all helped create a world that felt immersive. The setting wasn't simply pretty background decoration- it supported the emotional story.

I especially loved the contrast between freedom and confinement. Beautiful spaces could still feel suffocating. Private rooms became the only places where characters could truly be themselves. Open landscapes represented possibilities that always seemed just beyond reach.

The production was visually stunning without making the visuals feel more important than the characters.

EPISODE 11- 10/10 BUT ALSO FUCK YOU

I have watched sad dramas before.

I've watched tragedies. I've watched characters suffer. I've watched scenes specifically designed to emotionally destroy viewers.

And somehow, I had never cried.

Until Episode 11.

This episode absolutely broke me.

I think what made it hurt so much was that the drama had already spent eleven episodes making us understand how painful separation was for these characters. They had already lost years. They had already sacrificed so much. Their entire relationship was built around the fear of losing each other.

So when the possibility of permanent separation appeared?

I was DONE.

The waiting. The uncertainty. The grief. The possibility that after everything, one of them could become nothing more than a memory?

I genuinely cried.

For the first time because of a drama.

And I think that's because the drama earned those tears. It didn't simply throw tragedy at me and expect me to care. It spent the entire series building my attachment to these characters first.

So by Episode 11, I wasn't just watching something sad.

I was watching something happen to characters I had become deeply attached to.

And apparently that was enough to finally break me.

Congratulations, Inn and Ongsa

You won.

You are officially the first drama and cp to make me cry.

Happy now???

THE ENDING

I understand why some viewers might have mixed feelings about the ending. After such a heavy story and the way the drama continuously built a sense of tragedy, I understand why the final resolution could feel softer or more convenient than expected.

But personally?

I DID NOT CARE.

BRING HIM BACK.

After everything these two went through, after the years they lost and after Episode 11 nearly murdered me emotionally, I needed that reunion.

I needed them to have something.

Not perfection.

Not a magically easy life.

Just time.

Ordinary moments.

A chance to exist without constantly preparing for another separation.

And after everything?

Seeing them find their way back to each other felt like finally breathing again.

REWATCH VALUE- 9/10

Would I rewatch this?

Absolutely.

This drama has so many beautiful moments that I genuinely want to experience again- the cinematography, music, chemistry, quiet scenes and historical atmosphere.

But knowing what is coming will probably make a rewatch even more painful.

So I'm deducting one point purely for emotional safety reasons.

I need time to recover before voluntarily walking into Episode 11 again.

FINAL THOUGHTS

The Edge of Horizon isn't perfect.

There are familiar tropes, some pacing issues and an ending that probably won't work for everyone.

But none of that changed how deeply this drama affected me.

Because at the end of the day, I cared.

I cared about these characters. I cared about their relationship. I wanted them to be happy. And when a drama can make you sit there in emotional devastation because fictional characters are suffering?

It did something right.

For me, this drama had everything I personally love- slow burning emotions, forbidden love, historical settings, emotional restraint, beautiful cinematography and two people who love each other so deeply that even years apart cannot completely erase what they have.

Tin and Phob weren't simply lovers.

They were childhood.

They were memories.

They were home.

And maybe that's why, no matter how much history changed around them, they kept finding their way back.

I have watched dramas with technically better pacing or more complicated stories. But not every drama stays with you.

Not every drama makes you sit in silence after finishing it.

Not every drama makes you cry for the first time in your life.

This one did.

And honestly?

That tells me everything I need to know about how much it affected me.

10/10!!!!!!!

Would absolutely recommend.

Would absolutely rewatch.

Would absolutely cry again.

Would absolutely need emotional support afterwards.

This drama did not just cross the horizon.

It crossed directly into my fucking heart and decided not to leave.
