This is a brilliant piece of episodic art! The acting is superb as well as the story telling. I love the history background explanation of why the Qing are doing this. No episode is slow; this has to be the best historical kdrama I have watched in the last 5 years!
The Lee Jung Hyung good hearted scoundrel and Lady Gil Chae were such memorable characters with the backdrop of the Qing invasions this is one of the best drama I have seen in the last 5 years.
THis drama got better and better; in fact where most drama would go into autopilot this one goes off in unexpected and fantastic directions. Wow, I upped it to 9.0
A little short but loved it. There was a very catchy song in the OST. I thought it was a little out of the usual plot that FL love interest is sort of left floundering in the backwater he has been demoted to but minor point.
ep. 16 was an infomercial for garden equipment, plants and overly large work gloves standing in for gardening gloves. Also maybe bleach and detergent. Liked the Wookie and young steward romance.
Whoa, be prepared, this is not for softies! Very dark. But Yeom Hye Ran's ep. took it from somewhat ho-hum to brilliance. I think her intensity turned it around for me.
There are great lines in this series; the only cringey bits were the movie shooting scenes in ep. 9. I have watched this at least 4 times. I am sure SSK is a lovely person IRL, this and Rookie historian are her only shows where I liked her and didn't find her annoying. Also CSY has incredible range I thought the CEO character was in her late 30s!
It was pretty good for about half the episodes.
