Oh you forgot the childhood connection between ML and FL....That's the trope that killed it for me.I was also…
Haha, yes I forgot this one! Besides, it happened on the first seconds the drama! I remember I rolled my eyes but trying to calm myself thinking: 'That's OK, there's always unconsistent lame tropes, I can endure one or two!' I guess most - not all - of cdramas are like this: the theme around the love story is only a cosmetic pretext and doesn't do justice to them...
1st episode, 16mn - and we already have all the uninventive tropes (the car accident of doom, the rare and romantic-supposedly-uncurable-disease except by the FL, ML showering with close-ups on his abs...) and the lame misunderstandings (FL lost her press pass in a very unlikely way and it will cost her later of course, FL mistakes the ML's identity , FL reports vehemently the ML to the police....) you could expect from a mediocre rom-com. I intended to watch this drama for the weiqi and didn't really had high expectations for a modern cdrama rom-com - as you usually do - but it goes beyond my scope of tolerance and the quality level of the script will surely go below the sea level as the (41 !) episodes will unfolds, that's for certain.
And so far, for Go aficionados: this drama is not about the complex, rich and unfathomable world of weiqi and doesn't reciprocate the complexity of the game in its narrative. At less, it doesn't seem that the weiqi will be exploited as beautifully as in Hikaru no Go (if someone comes from the future, do tell me if this change over the course of the episodes).
