As I was reading the second part of your review, I was, like always, on the lookout for something that would annoy…
This production seems to like a little bit of shortcut. ;) Not only is Gubei being dressed up as an historical town, but they were called out for plagiarism on other fronts. They used artworks and designs on their screens without permission. You will notice screens in later episodes are all blurred out. ;)
Tbh I think I would've preferred it if she'd started out as a straight up villain who evolves into a better person…
I totally agree. It can definitely work the way you described. That is why it doesn't sit comfortably with me. I keep thinking why is this happening? It pushes the drama along and stirs the emotions, but it is illogical when you consider how smart and resource she is. :(
Why do I feel like if you were in the same room with the writer-nim, this script would’ve filled all those missing…
Damn! I wish I was there in that kitchen. It would have been epic! LoL To be honest, the show is tropey and the logic is weak. What sustains it is ZLS and to a less degree the ML. She is half way between super clever and too clever for her own good. She'd dig herself a hole and then erect a ladder to climb back out. We are waiting for that one hole that is too deep even for her best made plans. Is it schadenfreude?
Yes, it is very bingible. ;) You will either have issue with the subject matters and given up or you'll be hooked.…
I'm not 100% sure whether you are for or against such a clause. ;) However, a lot of the time, the clause is not sorely about the age but there might be concern about their "non-celeb" partner's or their young kids' feelings.
You were right! I dedicated my whole weekend to it, and after watching, I gotta say, even after Glass Heart, I…

Poetically pinned..I went through some reviews, you are the first one to actually point out needles from the hey..I…
Well, it was a narrative mess at the very end. It feels unfinished. Depending on the depth of the storyline centred around the king's transportation to the present time, it could extend the series by several eps and bring about new subplotsv and characters. Just saying "don't worry about it" is not going to cut it. ;)
"Did no-one proofread it?" - The problem is, my friend, they did proofread it."Did the FL not bind…
Well said, my friend. After Blossom and The Double, I foolishly thought that we are on a roll. We'll finally get a FL who can actually fight her way back to the top in a do-over. It is not a total fail, but the road to success was bumpier than expected. ;)
The things in the novel didn't appear this way so the excuse for height difference can only be that the ML was…
Fair point. It is plausible at that point in time, but considering the leads spent years at the academy, it just feels weird that he can't tell them apart on other occasions. Later on, he has no problem recognising the FL as the real general from her mannerisms as well as her principals like righteousness and bravery. ;) If all things are equal, I can give them a pass, but the script is too loose and it just becomes symptomatic. Cheers! :)
I just wanted to note that they had to change a lot from the novel because of the Chinese censorship. Reincarnation…
I agree about the reincarnation aspect. I have made the same remarks in my other reviews. However, Chinese script writers have learn to work around that. There has been a number of high profile shows with soul/body swapping as their theme as well as time slip do-overs. I think in this case, they probably cut it out to keep the length/complexity down. It works but it changed the tone, for better or for worse. 😉
