It bothers me how everyone just welcomed him back to the immortal sects. I don't care that DG imprisoned him for 10,000 years. The man betrayed the gods and got his wife killed. He doesn't get a free pass just because he defected from the DG. If his wife didn't die, he'd still be loyal to DG.
So maybe I completely missed something but what is the significance of these "love threads?" And YXW needs TTJ to form a love thread with her to create the soul slaying needles?
Are they like the red strings of fate where people think if they don't have love threads then they are just destined to be alone for the rest of their lives? Is that why Pian Ran refutes YQY's affection and YBC thinks Xiao Lin's affections aren't real? So to them, love can only bloom because of these love threads?
Has this been pretty true to the novel? It was on my TBR list when this drama was announced and beginning to film but it floated to the back of my mind and disappeared lol If the novel is super angsty, I don't know if I'd want to read it just for spoilers.
Ironically, I'm also reading The Dumb Husky and His White Cat Shizun (Luo Yun Xi was casted as Chu Wan Ning in the live-action adaptation) and this Devil God gives me Mo Ran vibes...like I just want to ask them "After you've destroyed all the immortal sects and enslaved the world...then what? What happens next? You'd be happy being ruler of the ashes?"
I don't know whether that's a relief to me or not. On one hand, they can't stretch the story and put in fillers..on the other, it basically guarantees a rushed ending .. eh, I guess we'll see.
unpopular opinion but tbh the dream arc is pulling me into the story more than the original arc. I'm so invested…
I'm loving the dream arc right now. It's when they are at the purest part of their relationship. I feel like this lifetime is the catalyst for all the bad karma that happens to Tiantai Jin and Ye Xi Wu
As wonderful as Chen Xing Xu was, I find myself developing a girl-crush on Li Lan Di lol Her acting completely won me over from episode 1 and I really look forward to her future projects!
Even is Youku decides to put out a special episode..that's just mean.
I'm happy everyone got their resolution and I suppose a semi-happy ending with them being reborn is better than them both dying and their men living in eternal sadness but really??? How are they going to add in a scene of the HE "realizing" his mistake and trying to make amends yet cut out our girls regaining their human forms? That scene with HE would only matter if You Qin actually ever had a loving bond with his dad and since he didn't...it completely missed the mark for me.
WTF. How are they going to give us so many moments of happiness and what should've been their lives together then not follow through at the very end of the journey?!?!?!?!
This could've been a 10/10 drama for me but no.
Even Love Between Devil and Happy had at least 30 seconds of a HE!
Su Zhi is a sad character because she isn't inherently bad. Circumstances forced her to become that way and maybe…
Completely agree! When Ye Tan went for revenge, everyone supported her. Hell, they literally stood right beside her. Now that their anger is calmed, they don't empathize with Su Zhi anymore. She still wants her vengeance yet no one has checked in with her to make sure she's okay. Ye Tan got the revenge she wanted and afterwards basically told Su Zhi that it's over now instead of making sure Su Zhi was okay with her brand of justice. She probably feels like Ye Tan abandoned her when it mattered most.

Exactly. Ye Tan, Void Empress, her general, Su Zhi .. they all had the same motivations. We praised Ye Tan for killing Void Emperor so why condemn Su Zhi for wanting to kill Heaven Emperor? There's also a distinct difference between YT and SZ's losses. Qing Kui chose to die for YT. QK was at peace when she died which could've served to quell YT's anger. SZ's family was massacred..when she's sees their ghosts, they aren't telling her to live freely. All she sees are the pain on the faces.
Su Zhi wants to destroy the 4 realms...but Ye Tan originally wanted to conquer it and make it bow to her feet. The only difference is that Su Zhi is following through on her dark desire. Ye Tan was very fortunate to have so much light in her life to balance out her anger..but we didn't follow Su Zhi's journey so we don't see how she struggled to survive. If their stories were swapped, we'd probably be cheering for Ye Tan to destroy the 4 realms and be criticizing Su Zhi for preaching about forgetting the past and moving on.
Lol! Same! But it's hard to watch his old dramas while YQ is still fresh in my mind :)
CCX in Goodbye My Princess is despicable as a character..but his Gu Xiao Wu/Li Cheng Yin was my favorite character in the drama. He was the only interesting one.
The writers are great at inserting stuff to foreshadow. YQ said YT is like the Herb of Nine Lives, even if it…
Su Zhi is a sad character because she isn't inherently bad. Circumstances forced her to become that way and maybe to her, living without resentment is betraying the memories of her clansmen who all died such painful and wrongful deaths. Even when she stabs Ye Tan, it isn't done with malice but with overwhelming grief.
Love rewatching episodes 28 and 37. The contrast between YQ teaching YT to defend herself then seeing her use those techniques to help him remember her is just so beautifully done! No heavy CGI work, just good choreography and wire work <3
My heart does ache for Su Zhi. Even she realized she could've lived well if she gave up her hatred. But it was buried to her very bones and stitched into the depths of her soul. Her loss was too much and she couldn't cope.
The sisters being the solution instead of the catalyst to Guixu makes sense. They absorb good and bad energy and Guixu is nothing more than the chaotic combination of both forms of energies.
