And therefore, she ain’t happy, no one can be happy, including those who cared for and protected her. Who wouldn’t…
She was sincere. She did care for Ye Tan and Qing Kui because they are connected. She saw how happy they were and was going to keep their identities to herself. She only activated their powers because they were going to be killed. To have survived only on the hope of reuniting with your family for 10,000 years then to have that shattered in a matter of seconds would make anyone go crazy. She helped Ye Tan recover her power so Ye Tan could quench Ye Tan's anger. Just because Ye Tan could let go doesn't mean Su Zhi should feel the same. Ye Tan's losses spanned a matter of days but Su Zhi's losses lasted over 10,000 years. With everything HE has done, he deserves to die by her hand and I wouldn't fault her for wanting his death. She could've used Qing Heng but did she? No, she didn't.
Will that justify her actions? No. It doesn't. Killing innocents for the sake of avenging innocents only results in wasted lives. If her family had lived, I have no doubt she would've left and settled with them somewhere far away from the 4 realms. Would she still be angry? Rightfully so, but she would've had people to ground her the way Ye Tan has You Qin and Qing Kui and the rest of their group. Yes, Qing Kui and Ye Tan have always treated her with kindness, but Su Zhi's loyalty is not to them, it is to her family. It's in the same way Ye Tan and Qing Kui's loyalties are to each other. Like every character in this drama fighting for their family, Su Zhi is also entitled to her anger, grief, and revenge.
The angst isn't high. It's has moments but they are undercut with appropriate amounts of comedy. It's a really easy watch compared to other xianxia dramas and since it's only 40 episodes, the plot moves relatively quick.

I haven't read the novel, but I really like her character in the drama. She was good up until she found out her clan had already been exterminated. Anyone in her shoes would've snapped.
I think if his dad succeeded in making him kill her, he would've gone berserk from grief, anger, and self-loathing.
This was a reply to the main comment above ^ It's a what if situation and the poster was saying they wanted to see You Qin go berserk. I'm not saying it's going happen just that if he were to go berserk, it would've only happened if he unknowingly killed Ye Tan.
I think it was the best punishment. Death doesn't change anything, it would only make him a martyr for those who believed his lies. Destroying his cultivation was the perfect punishment. Even if his lives, he's totally alone. His wife, kids, and armies have abandoned him. He has nothing now and to him, that may be worse than death. He will live no differently than the way Ye Tan lived for the first 18 years of her life.
When Man Man first died, I wondered if her death was really necessary. Her death was heartbreaking but it didn't feel like a catalyst to anything. After episode 38, it feels like it was necessary now. Man Man was Ye Tan's voice of reason; her light. I think having her present would've balanced out Husui. Man Man would've been there to comfort Ye Tan through losing Qing Kui and You Qin. And while Hu Sui didn't do any harm in those moments in the Void Realm, she doesn't know Ye Tan the way Man Man does. Man Man wouldn't have let Ye Tan wallow in misery and mourning.
She should get revenge on the person who is responsible not the whole world! Yetan is not her slave or anything…
Su Zhi's loyalty isn't to Ye Tan or Qing Heng, it's to Dong Qiu and her deceased family. Ye Tan promised her vengeance, yet spared the enemy even after finding out he witnessed his own father mercilessly wipe out the Dong Qiu people. To Su Zhi, that could've been seen as a betrayal. Technically speaking, the whole world was responsible. Every realm was present and either participated or stood and watched as her people were slaughtered.
I want to stress that I'm not defending her. It's just not as black and white as: she could just stop if she chose to.
10000 years of waiting with only a glimmer of hope. Surely she has the rights to hold grudges. However destroying…
Convincing everyone is idealistic..but not realistic. Even from today's episode, there's still so many who resent Ye Tan simply for being the twin flower. Deep seated fear is one of the scariest things in the world, both in drama land and reality. Dong Qiu people are still thought of as evil..particularly because all those involved are gone. No matter how good the mass populace is, it doesn't take much to sway them in one way or another. Does this justify Su Zhi's revenge? Definitely not. Killing innocents to avenge innocents results in nothing but wasted lives.
This is what every character in this drama have in common..aside from the HE and VT. Every character fought for family which is why they all went to the extremes to enact revenge. Su Zhi is no different. She fights to avenge her family and yeah, her schemes will hurt our beloved characters..but if Ye Tan was justified in seeking her vengeance..then so is Su Zhi.
The difference is that Ye Tan had 2 targets and accepted that she can't control how the world sees her. She no longer wants revenge on the world because she has wonderful friends, had a loving sister, and a husband who would take on the world for her. Su Zhi has none of that; nothing to keep her grounded. Ye Tan held on for 20 years..but Su Zhi held on for 10,000 years...that's a lot of time to build resentment and hatred. I can't imagine what her life was like, reliving that day, every day for 10,000 years. All 4 realms were responsible for the death of her people. It makes sense that she would want to see it all destroyed.
At this point, it would be such a betrayal..but if Suzhi opens up Guixu to destroy the 4 realms...can't really blame her. Girl has been through absolute hell.
Super random, but I couldn't help but burst out laughing when You Qin returns and Amao and Fei Chi were essentially celebrating his loss against Ye Tan. The loyalty in this drama from everyone (even the bad guys) just elevates the quality of characters!
The amount of support Ye Tan has in this drama is amazing! It's probably one of the things holding her together now that's she's lost her best friend, sister, and lover.
