I was curious as to why there were women and children in Sun's camp if they are technically a war band...but getting sent slave girls for procreation makes sense.
Changge is super intelligent, ambitious and masters in martial arts. At first I thought she would be loud, but…
Chang Ge is "more likable" than Le Yan because of her strength..but I can appreciate Le Yan's character because she was probably the more "normal" type of woman in that time period than Chang Ge. Plus, although they are both princesses, their upbringing was different.
I think the show does a good job at showing compatibility amongst the 2 main couples.
First, there's Sun and Chang Ge. The first thing that attracted Sun to Chang Ge was her intelligence (the game scene in episode1). Yes, he's had to save her a couple times but he sees that like himself, she's a fighter. If you think about it, Sun and Le Yan would never have been attracted to each other. Sun grew up fighting so he needs to be with someone that shares his drive. Le Yan was too coddled and protected to understand what it means to fight for something (until now...since she's on her own).
Likewise, when you put Hao Du and Chang Ge together, there's no way romance would ever blossom from that. They are both too stubborn to ever be compatible. Le Yan's gentleness and innocence brings out a different side of Hao Du that only she gets to see and that's why I hope they both survive and end up together.
Wei Shuyu although not a villain but less interesting compared to Haodu, a villain but has many layers. Alen Fang…
I think he initially liked Chang Ge but since she was exiled, he hasn't really seen or been with her at all. Plus he thinks she's dead thanks to Sun. It would be completely implausible for him to keep pining after Chang Ge at this point.
Even though we've only seen small interactions here and there, I find myself loving Sun's people. They aren't bad people, just rough around the edges like Sun is. Caring about them scares me because I have this foreboding feeling they won't survive once shit hits the fan and Sun separates himself from the Khan.
One thing that really pisses me off is that Chang Ge’s father is shown as being cold towards her, which is wrong!…
I haven't read the manhua but from comments I've read..it actually surprised me that the characters were different then the manhua descriptions. For one, it's kind of strange CG would be so hell bent of revenge in the drama if she wasn't close to her parents anyways. (Like, yeah, they are her parents and they were murdered but the drama basically portrayed her having a minimal relationship with both). If anything, the revenge part would make sense because of the sense of betrayal she felt from her uncle. Second, the description of Sun is that he is the foster son the the Khan and led a really hard life..yet the Sun in the drama is quite mild and kind in nature. I was hoping to see his ruthlessness and cunning but I don't think it's the character is coming across that way. I'm not sure if the drama writers were afraid he would come off as unlikeable...but now he just seems bland. Despite liking the cast, there's really nothing exceptional in either the FL or ML characters.
Everyone is looking so good with how they are styled. Just loved the sport competition scene! Had to replay it a couple times.
For people who are fans of the original work: is this a story where the leads eventually stand on opposite sides due to their conflicting loyalties? Or a story where they come together as a solidified unit to defeat a common enemy? I don't know if my heart can stand another "opposite sides of a great war" drama ??
plus it takes a lot of creativity to think of new missions and games every week as RM has been airing for 10 years…
One of my favorite episodes was when they took a fan's ideas and brought her to the set to see her vision in action. I believe Do Hee and Yeo Jin Gu were the guests. The ideas were so fun and fresh.
I'm only on episode 19 but Zi Dan reminds me of Qi Heng of Story of Minglan. Like Qi Heng, Zi Dan is softer and not suitable for the role he was born into. Both men truly wanted simple lives with the women they loved. Unfortunately for them, the women they loved were not compatible with them because Ming Lan and Wang Xuan are capable of so much more than being wallflowers. The men at their side needed to be able to help nurture and support their strengths and allow them to be who they truly were. In hindsight, despite initially loving Zi Dan, A'Wu wouldn't have been happy or strong with him.
In my opinion, 2011-early 2015 was when Running Man was at its peak and at its best. The best episodes involved simple missions where the cast just had to focus on surviving. The later episodes involved too much needless traveling and now since the cast is older many of the physical aspects of the show were understandably removed.
I love watching her but I do take her critiques with a grain of salt. I feel like she's more into contemplative dramas which is why she dislikes most dramas that have garnered more popular gatherings like Ashes of Love, Ruyi's Love in the Palace, Yanxi Palace, Love and Redemption, etc. I personally don't mind repetition of popular tropes because it really depends on execution rather than just ideas because let's face it: it's rare to find original ideas these days.

From my limited understanding, I know Xiao Qi is pissed and wants to investigate everything himself but I didn't understand what was in the decree.
