So underrated- I should have watched this earlier, I'm in love with the chemistry of male characters. Love the intensity, it felt so sincere. With the exception of the very last episode, I like the writing of this drama; unlike recent others, it has consistently delivered good and logical writing.

Dilraba was such a perfect cast FOR the role "SIMU" that I got goosebumps every time watching it. I've never seen a role suit her so well, and I can't imagine anyone else bringing this role to life. I wasn't a fan before, but this series changed my mind.

This comment will be a bit cliché, but I cannot help it: THE NOVEL WAS MUCH BETTER, soooooo much better.

I really loved the novel "Rebirth of Star genarale", there are things that are omitted, but so far not bad. Also, I'm looking for similar vibe novels to read. Any recommendations on that?

Alright, it seems I'm in the minority, but from your replies, I understand that they have managed to catch the taste of the majority which is good. I guess her previous looks suited to my own taste better.

It is not bad but not good either. Like the pilot is average, the acting is also not bad but there is something very dull, especially in the Luayang arc. Also why is the MFL's makeup is terrible, it took away her beauty, she was gorgeous in the Story of Yanxi Palace. Her clothes(the styling ) are also another terrible factor. You should make the main female lead look attractive not vice versa.

With this ridiculous stage make up is this drama still watchable? Like I cannot see myself immersed in the storyline while the characters look this unbelievable...

actually the romance element of story of minglan was very good but different from LLTG, It is more like a mature love and other phases of love. But regardless it was a strong element in that drama too. (it was slow burn romance, maybe because of that before you are hooked you might have lost your interest, I love slow burn romance but it is personal choice) ı agree good plot with good romance is very hard to find. Usually the romance heavy dramas have YA settings , thus hard to relate.

Actually I have watched both Nirvana in Fire S1 and Promise of Chang an. I dind't enjoy both of them as much as I have enjoyed LLTG. It is probably because both of the dramas(NIF, POC) were heavly focused on court politcs. I like realistic settigns, a good slice of life story, with good humor and romance combined . I love seeing mid tier or little bit above mid tier(little bit lower from the def royalty) people's daily life(economy, marriage, theri job proffesion etc). That's why I find LLTG more talored to my preferences thus enjoyed more.

Oh I have watched the rebel princess acting and cinematography were very good but the story was not as good as this one also it was very heavy in terms of politics so ı didn't enjoy it as much as LLTG, but as you said it is a must watch serie.

The Authors "MDL Top 10 Dramas Aired in the 2010s" list has a very similar taste to mine so will look for other articles written by them, thank you
