i get what you mean, and I actually see this simmering expressions you describe, I think a few other actors can join the list too besides those you already mentioned here, like the ml in The rise of Ning, in The prisoner of Beauty, in How dare you, in The rise of Ning and Pursuit of jade, sorry but I am not good with names but visual memories. 😔

Ci Sha, the ml, is a great professional, he is young but acts like a seasoned professional. He is tall and handsome, his features however do not portrait the softness and youth that some actors of his age have, I Guess this May be the reason why he hasn't done any real idol drama project, as far as I know. I believe in him, I think he can handle any role, with that right make up artist and costumes. He has the depth that not all actors of his age have.

Yes Viki subs better than mostz only Netflix, where available, can beat it, but both are behind the actual airing schedule. Fortunately I speak and write Chinese too so subtitles in English is only an extra for me. Enjoy ..

love how the story moves on and so appreciate the director 's work, delivered by a team of professional actors and actresses. It has been a while that I lasted enjoyed a court/family drama as this one. I distinctly remember with fond memories of Rhe rise of Ning, The prisoner of beauty, the double, and I go back to watch them from time to time, this drama will be among them for me to go back to.

I hope Allen Ren will choose a better project with a female lead of his calibre, this fl here is just not it, and the storyline is messy.

I just can't bring myself to watch her act. she is just too perfunctory.

first time see her work? I have known her since The rise of Ning, she was marvelous there, the story was great and just as relatable if not more, and she looked great there too, even better than in this drama.

there are two costume dramas currently being aired, one is this and the other is Fate chooses you, much as I love watching Allen Ren, I can't bring myself to watch Fate chooses you with the same delight and hunger as I have for A splendid match which has, to me, a much more relatable story. I do hope Allen Ren will soon make a drama less complicated and more joyful.

I can't see it on Wetv in Europe. I can't complain enough about them selling VIP accounts but putting on regional restrictions especially on quality dramas!!!

can't make any comparison since I didn't watch the one with Esther Yu, I Just can't watch anything with her in it, she is cringy by definition.

oh it is very worth watching, the story is good and the leads were great. It isn't a slow paced drama as a lot happened and all events brought the leads closer to each other, forming a deep bond, besides he knew already in the early stage that they are not siblings and when she found it out in the mid of the series or so, plenty of sweet moments for them. I finished rewatching it just 2 weeks ago, come to think of it, it has a faster pacing than this one.

I do hope this drama will have a higher rating soon, it is such a relatable story delivered by a strong cast, all characters , big and small, deliver on point performance and the dialogues are well written. I have a strong preference for this kind of dramas (the rise of Ning, perfect match, prisoner of beauty, are you the one, etc etc).

oh he was so good in joy of life! I like him less here, and he is dubbed too, can't say I like the dubbed voice, not after I have watched and heard him in joy of life!

the concubine of the female lead's father is such a weak and easily manipulated person, how can she allow her servant to harm others so endlessly? how can a servant take such liberty, so lawless!!
