But the deputy general blamed her. Or he blamed He Ru Fei but she was He Ru Fei at that time.
Humm, I think the male lead should have no problems in establishing it was the brother who played them, because in addition to the explanations the female lead gave him, let's not forget that he also saw the face of the He Ru Fei when he slated open his mask in the palace after he willfully accused his father of loosing the battle in front of the king. Anyway, nice exchange of views, have a great day. I am saying goodbye for now to this lovely drama and have just started watching "When destiny brings the demon", I love Arthur Chan's acting, he is so natural, so on point, am having a bit of problem taking in the female lead, but hey we can't win them all. I hear it will be ending in less than 6 days, the time flame suits me. After it, I'll have a go with "Shadow love" by the same male lead, hope it is good.
But the deputy general blamed her. Or he blamed He Ru Fei but she was He Ru Fei at that time.
The deputy general in fact said it was He Ru Fei, and the female lead asked him again showing her surprise and the male lead was there witnessing her reaction. He then found out that there is a sister. Afterwards he met her on the bridge, testing her and he is given a detailed explanation. She confirmed that she was the one who went to save his father, but they knew the deputy general delayed the rescue request because of He Ru Fei, it was clear that it is the brother.
I love this drama and it would have been perfect if the screenplay did not insist on the male lead doubting the female lead's partecipation in delaying the rescue of his father, not with all the explanations given by the deputy general of his father and having seen how she insisted on knowing from this deputy general who he talked to during the interrogation. This is one big flaw and it is crucial.
Since the female lead is from another world, I can't help but to think she'd wake up and then see the male lead playing some other role in the modern world, like many dramas based on similar storytellings, I never like this kind of timeline dramas.
I haven't started watching this drama yet, am still finding it hard to say goodbye to the legend of female general since I especially like the main leads and their fight scenes. But when I saw a couple of fight scenes by Song Yi in this drama, she just looks slow, awkward. I'll watch this drama after I manage to put the legend of female general behind.
love court fights, lawyers standing up for the defenseless, the male lead delivers excellent performanc!. Only two episodes a week just don't work for me.
Arthur Chan is brilliant in his acting, in delivering lines with feelings and convictions one can ever expect from whatever roles he covers. He is so good that he often outshines the female leads and this drama is no exception.
One of my favorite novels got adapted into a drama, and now that it's finished, I feel so empty. The casting was…
I personally prefer the screenplay, the rebirth in the novel is not my cup of tea. The drama managed to keep many well written dialogues in the book, it also has a well chosen cast and the fight scenes are great to watch. The one issue I have with the screenplay is the character/behaviour of the emperor, it is so inconsistent, one minute he is wise and compassionate, then he flips into a manipulative, cruel emperor who wanted to cuase hatred among the main leads, but then bestowed marriage between the two as if his conviction of dividing them never happened.
I agree with your point and I also have one more point to question. Why at the beginning the emperor was so mean…
Indeed, the change of attitude of the emperor offsets his seriousness. He at times appears to be kind and understanding but cunning and manipulative in other moments. He is inconsistent, the script and the director should have done better.
I love this kind of dramas, laws beating the unlawfuls, clever lawyers and romance in between. But the case presented in episode 5, I mean how it ended is a bit disappointing, hope to see more interesting cases in the coming episodes .
I am finding it hard to walk away from the drama since it ended. Though I think the editing and or director left some questions unanswered, for example what happend to the ledger that details the corruption of the minister? It was given to the son of the dead governor in the prison but nothing came out of it. Then why and how the emperor and the male lead foresaw the riot planned by the minister and the fake general in the palace? These are no small things. I doubt they were left behind by mistake, so is it the editor who dropped the ball? All in all a very pleasant drama with a well chosen cast, the main leads do click in this drama, I hope they will make another project, especially a costume drama with an intriguing plot.
Fantastic dialogues in the palace, how the leads stand their ground in front of the king are worth watching, listening to over and over again! Btw, listening in original language, how they word the dialogues is a great treat!
and am still rewatching it.
