Yes, you can skip doors. In the novel, it actually explains it well unlike in the drama, I feel like it's not explained much. So if I'm not wrong, a door level is the door level of the person that got the note/clue from their previous door. So this could be a higher level to some others in the door but if they do make it out, then that means they have skipped doors and already will go to the 6th one next (with this door that they passed being the 5th door). And I think for the 10th door, I know Yixie wanted to try entering that door to skip levels but I remember Lanzhu didn't want him to because it was dangerous and didn't have enough experience in it as yk, Lanzhu did experience that door and he and one other person were the only ones that survived it. Idk if I gave you the answers you're looking for but that's what I got from reading the novel (I'm still reading it currently so I need to digest the information more)

same! I rarely cried in the beginning episodes... I really didn't expect to cry THIS much! I started crying a ton starting ep.27 and onwards. I think as each death came, I cried harder and harder. The twins was the worst. Oh gosh, as an identical twin myself it was too much for me. I can't imagine losing a twin so that was too painful! Not to mention, my sister and I watched this drama together (on different devices) and we both bawled our eyes out πππ And yeah, Dongyuan and Zaozao's was just too painful for me to watch! I can't! And then the parting in the last episode made me bawl my eyes out a ton too, that was too painful ππππ Oh... and the way I cried so hard in Lanzhu fake death scene even tho I knew he would come back (bc of Lingling) πππ

Just finished 'The Long Ballad' a few days ago and LOVED IT so much. The 2nd CP's chemistry made me smile so much. Their chemistry was FIRE! I'm so happy they have another drama together bc they deserved more screentime in TLB tbh π I mean, I already knew about this and planned to watch these two back-to-back. Lol sorry for the late reply but yeah, it's so true that censorship just ruins the ending in these BL adaptations in China ksjdhfkjshfkj but like I just felt most of the time there was no censorship in this drama cuz it just looked way too obvious esp from Lanzhu's end for liking Lingling (since the beggining like...) but then Lingling starting to like him later on (yeah I know in the novel this is how Jiushi is like too). You're right. With censorship, this drama is still so special to me. Even tho the ending pissed me off, and smth I was not expecting, I still rated a 10 bc it became one of my all-time favorite dramas now! I won't get over it and still am not over it... and am still stuck inside the door π What matter is I guess at least he came back. I just finished this recently and after they parted ways, everything was so confusing and idk what route they were trying to take π If you look closely, Gao Dawei is actually played by Xia Zhiguang. It is so unfortunate that they didn't go down the route that they were best friends and that they never revealed his face π Also yeah I hate the 50-year age gap bc Jiushi was never happy in those years oof π Let's just think of the novel as the ending to make ourselves feel better! At least they reunited after 1 year only! And Lanzhu was actually real and not an NPC in the novel which was even better. But dang him being an NPC was such a plottwist for me. Thinking that way will only make me happier haha I believe this wasn't a dream but just all in virtual reality because the world he had these experiences and made these memories in may be virtual, but the time spent was real :) I'm gonna def read the novel soon too. Unfortunately, don't know why they had to timeskip 50 years when in the novel, it was only 1 year... and another disappointment is that we didn't get to see Yixie reunite with his brother in the 11th door :( In the novel he reunites with him and decides to stay with him. As an identical twin myself, watching them separate, watching Qianli leave Yixie like that was a very heartbreaking moment for me and the feelings are still there... but at least, even tho we have faced deaths that left us heartbroken, being able to see them all in the 11th door just made me happier. It's rare to find dramas where you can get to see a person after they died especially reuniting with their friends! That's smth I'll always love about the drama!
