In the trailer for ep 47 there’s a moment when TZ regains his memories but isn’t YY yet. I’m so glad he dies knowing why YD acted as she did, and knowing she had always loved him 🥺
When YD asks him ‘will you give up your life for me?’ And she smiles through her tears to herself when he says yes - it’s because it’s what she’s about to do for him. It’s a relief, a comfort to finally have him confirm to her that he would do the same for her 🥺😭🥺🥹
But OMG, the pace! They really didn’t mess about. One minute they’re discussing it and next YD is stabbing him. Thank you Director for not drawing it out!
And that scene, you could see the mood switch in YD and her face strain from steeling herself to do what she needs to 😭
I was also very moved by the ZX/YD reunion even though I thought I wouldn’t care that much! I had tears in my eyes.
Just watching YY in preparation for his return and it is amazing how different he is. Just his aura and his demeanour. Whereas YD felt she had to look after TZ and was wiser than TZ, YY is so 霸气 - domineering and lofty in a confident way, not arrogant or rude. I love the way he’s reserved but you can see so much emotion on his face, cheng Yi perfectly expresses the struggle of his character to exercise such restraint, for example when he sees YD in prison or at the river, he’s so pained it breaks my heart. He really delivers in emotional scenes. Him and Yang Zi in tonight’s scene will have us all in floods of tears.
I never realised my own expressions and those of other actors were so one faceted, haha. But Cheng Yi’s expressions are so multilayered.
Can I just say, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the expressions (amongst many many others)- YY makes when he is explaining the…
when YD is healing TZ after he destroys his cultivation, she asks him to consume her flower petal and there’s a bit before his reply where TZ moves his chin back a bit before replying, like he’s thinking about how to answer and is a bit shy. I love that moment.
I have another question i often hear that for Chinese drama the actors don't use their own voices. I don't understand…
It’s for the reasons given - standardisation of accent (it would be like watching GoT and seeing someone with a Texan accent, just weird). Also, it’s incredibly hard to change your accent if you’re Chinese. The tones and words used change from region to region.
I quite like dubbing when it’s done right. Some voice actors, like the one who voices Ye Hua in TMoPB have so much emotion and such a beautiful tone to their voice. Also, have you watched Novoland Pearl Eclipse? William Chan is Cantonese and speaks mandarin badly, if he wasn’t dubbed he couldn’t do ancient drama and we wouldn’t be able to see his excellent acting!
How did daddy demon die if he can reverse time ? 🤔
I don’t think he does die, since someone mentioned they see YY fighting XY. Maybe he’s locked them in a sort of time freeze, replaying that moment, and so neither of them are dead, they’ve just gone missing.
But but but... in order to live longer the devil must kill people. 🤣 He is hot and charming, but evil. 😈
Oh yeah 😅 it looked like the eternal darkness spell helped him harvest spirits to live longer. But then, if it does, why does he want the RQ’s jade artefact? He said he needed it to help his people live longer.
Do you think there’s more than one big baddie? I thought maybe YD kills TZ because she has to kill him before the week is up and remember - if he dies the baddie dies. And she can simultaneously wake YY up. Otherwise she doesn’t need him to die to give him her heart since he was alive the last time she gave him her heart.
Presumably if she fixes his celestial vest while he is still alive he would stay TZ but with YY’s memories, like he was supposed to be in the first place?
I don’t feel like daddy demon is so bad. He just wants to live longer. It must be really sad that those in the demon realm live such short lines. They’re not all bad, current demon lord is nice.
I think the sword realizes who he is and is fulfilling the Asura Lord's evil plan. I think part of his father…
The sword needs him to live because he can only have an asura master and YY is the last, I get that. I just wondered what the eternal darkness spell does. 🤔
He always knew it was YD who gave him half of her heart, so why does he act like he’s just learnt something new?
What had Luming said about his friend (who turns out to be YD) that YY didn’t know about?
But OMG, the pace! They really didn’t mess about. One minute they’re discussing it and next YD is stabbing him. Thank you Director for not drawing it out!

I admit that’s very sci-fi though

I’ve confused myself 😂
