EP 12:
JiNing! He appeared too soon, I was so caught off guard. I recognized him right away due to his dorky personality while talking HAHA. Ji Ning is Ji Chengyu’s favorite disciple so it would definitely be him who walked with Ji Chengyu when they accompanied Shunde in the Valley of Flowers!

If it is really him, I am nervous for his appearance. Dramas really are so fast-paced compared to novels. I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to keep up with this pace and cry a river when this ends. TT-TT

Wait, qingshu is fox spirit and jiyunhe become fox. Guess is yunhe qingshu and lincanglan's biological daughter?…
Definitely not, only IF they follow the novel. Lin Cang Lan ang Qing Shu made Yunhe a test subject for years for their plan. Here are excerpts from the novel that could prove it.

“Not to mention Lin Canglan had never really seen her(Yunhe) as an adopted daughter. She was just a pawn under the old man, helping him do all the dark, unsightly deeds…”

“Refining a human into a demon, it is rare indeed. It’s been tried countless times, and the demon masters always died violently..." He stood up again with a condescending posture. "You(Yunhe) are the first exception."

“His(Lin Cang Lan) great cause, was it to refine humans into demons so as to resist the frost poison? So the demon master tribe… could once again stand at the top of the world…?”

Qingshu never seemed to be informal with Lin Canglan either in the novel or drama. The drama has also already shown Qingshu bringing young Yunhe(EP10) from outside to inside so the fact that she’s truly just adopted has a higher chance to be true. It was also always shown that Qing Shu only kept her feelings all to herself with Lin Cang Lan also shown “probably” in denial or just avoiding Qing Shu’s desire. Moreover, Lin Cang Lan was introduced as someone who’d only remain focused on being submissive to the court’s rules(Master-Demon relationship ban) until his death or just until his plan has been realised since he also need the court for the Frost Poison Antidote Supplies. My point was, both QS and LCL seemed to only focus solely on finishing their “great cause” and not really care about “love” in the novel and in the drama. :))

Currently have Sa Ding Ding's Leaping Fish on repeat. What a song!
True! And “As You Wish” too is so enchanting to hear. I fell in love with all 5 OSTs so they’re on shuffle playing on spotify as I do my assignments 😅. I was so happy after hearing today that Sa DingDing also did a cover for Mao Bu Yi's "As You Wish”!

Hello! TBW Drama is more than satisfying, to be honest. It overwhelmed us with cute and comedic scenes more than…
I’m glad ❤️. Im not a native english speaker so I thought that I would be really bad at encoding my thoughts to words. Truth be told, your comment has helped me to answer her question. I initially thought my comments about the novel was repetitive... But It was always a delight to see your comments and replies here everytime I visit the page, it gives me the most courage to share my thoughts. I think you are one of the reason that my viewing experience TBW enhanced to the best.

I wasnt able to finish the novel… but Jinsang was alive and well upto Chapter 99/118 of the novel. I halted reading at Ch99… You see in the novel, Jinsang was introduced on the early chapters as someone who already experienced death once. But after surviving, she was more energetic, strong, and healthier than Yunhe! I am sure she will be alive and still be with Yunhe till the end of the chapter.

Question for novel readers, how is TBW as a drama adaptation so far? Does the plot follow the book's plot closely?…
Hello! TBW Drama is more than satisfying, to be honest. It overwhelmed us with cute and comedic scenes more than those given in the novel. Just like what WK1 said, the drama is like the mirror of the novel despite the slight changes. Those slight changes didn't change the main conflicts of the story too much either. The casts has done perfectly well so I am saluting the HR managers of this drama for choosing them as the characters. I will just paste here what I commented in here in the past.

In the drama Yunhe, is able to freely express her thoughts more through the early appearance of loulou/jinsang. We know that in the novel, she was so lonely in the earlier chapters. Even though she has Snow March earlier there, she still keep all her thoughts and plans (nomatter dirty or good) only to herself most of the time. The drama didnt exactly remove all of that loneliness. This is depicted through the scenes where loulou, sometimes doesn't exactly understand Yunhe's intentions towards Changyi.

ChangYi too, gained more momentum in his character growth through the additional lines with Yunhe unlike in the novel where he mostly stayed silent. Also, he was more honest and open about his feelings of love about Yunhe in the drama- a direction much more acdepted by the general viewers in the dramaland. Moreover, Changyi’s integrity did not disappear since he’s still so very firm in abiding by his principles.

All characters in the drama perfectly fit all of the characters features in the novel. Loulou is exactly what I imagined her to be- intensely loyal, bubbly and clueless most of the time- still always manages to steal my heart. Changyi, the pretty and big tailed fish, a mirror of the looks cold-but is the- kindest of all noble merman. Yunhe, the mysterious, dreamy and determined warrior that deserve happiness the most. All of the casts introduced as the characters was a delight to see come to life that I feel like crying my eyes out of joy.
My point was that nothing in Changyi nor Yunhe really was considered too different from the novel. So the drama right now, has done a very good serialization of the novel.

Let me repeat the rationale for the decision making, for those who missed it. As a business entity, they have…
WK1, you punched right in the gut. Being reminded that it was all for profit and not exactly on the audience’s favor, this really still stir disappointment. Nomatter Core or Non fans, we all love and enjoy watching a drama especially if we are given chance equal to their domestic audiences to watch it, to quote- fair service. Yet, this was deprived from us, although not exactly bad for the drama. We all can endure waiting but I also truly hope that this would not happen again.

does anyone feel that lincanglan is actually not really evil. he smiled when yunhe survived death and he is sad…
I once thought that way . Yet after he kept torturing Yunhe for only crazy reasons(for disobeying or for not perfectly following his plans) and after reading the novel , he is considered as a selfish person in my eyes. First, He smiled because he treats Yunhe as an object he needs for his plan, never as a daughter. He also only cared about making his son crazy like him. For me, his plans and acts eventually buries the remaining fatherly love left in him that I pitied once. But my hate for him mostly stemmed from the fact that I dont believe that the end justifies the means. He meant well for his son, but he also never stopped hurting his son’s humanity and others(Yunhe, himself since he also wasnt able to receive the love of his son, and his assistant’s love for him) all for his cause.

I am so excited for the date! Maybe it will happen in between EP13-15 or sooner but I hope I can watch it with eng subs though huhu. Yunhe and Changyi never even got the chance to have a proper date in the novel. I will definitely prepare a pillow beside to hide my screams and excitement while watching at home. Although I really believe EP12 would torture the viewers with anger, I will only look forward to their date in mind so that I could resist punching the screen while watching, lol.

My impatience got the best of me since we don’t have English subs. And I was dying to know what’s going on…
True! Since I could not watch with eng subs, I have decided to just compare what I have already read to the dialogues in the drama! It became easier for me to understand the conversations since then. This actually helped me a lot since I am not proficient with chinese.

Theres only two dramas that made me want to check out the novel. It was Ancient Love Poetry and this drama, The Blue Whisper. ALP is still my favorite and TBW is currently my obsession HAHA. But I did not finish both novels for the same reason. I wanted to enjoy watching the drama more through being clueless. Watching without knowing the future just like you said, indeed enhance the watching experience and is more fun. Watching The Long Ballad also tempted me to check the manhwa, the art and pacing of the story was really engaging to see! But sadly, I was not able to finish it too last year ever since I got hospitalised. 😅

Youku is probably planning to cater to Intl fans only on april, after part 1 ends… but many are disappointed…
I was not aware, thank you so much for letting us know. Does this mean they would be the one to post eng subs on their platform or youtube if ever?

Yes! The drama is fun and exciting to watch, for real!
Oh, I did not study chinese but I can understand some basic words which allowed me to understand the drama a bit. ( For example, I understood in EP10 that Hao Qing asked “What are you implying by doing this?” and the assistant responded as “The Lord’s rules states that if the Litte Master is hurt, punsihment will be bestowed to the culprit.” ). I also understand some of the complicated texts since I have watched xianxia dramas which gave me a bit of an idea of what they are saying. ( For example, “Ling Zhi”= Ganoderma, Ling Shi= Spiritual Stones, Da Wei Ba Yu = Big Tailed fish, and some more). The quote from the drama I mentioned above are taken from @afternoont in twitter who translates some of her/his favourite scenes from TBW. I really enjoy her translations and posts since it is fun and somewhat coherent with what I understood while watching too.

I did exactly the same , read the novel due to the temptation of wanting to know what is happening. I am so disappointed with youku right now. But Ill really pass on finishing the novel…I think I want to enjoy being clueless while watching too XD I am also in love on the drama’s amazing adaptation. Each character are like the real ones in the novel, their acting are topnotch!

Oh.. I thought you meant Yunhe in the novel… The quote uttered by Yunhe in the drama happened in Episode 8 before she and Changyi jumped into the whirlpool… While the quote by Yunhe in the novel happened in Chapter 99….
