Until one silent night, a kind and selfless Lotus Flower wanted to use her to give a blind man a simple dream on his birthday.
Out of pity, the pupa granted their wish and created a story for them.
She allowed them to get married, gave them a place to call home. She also let them start a family, have a child, and —be full of joy. They were given their own —carefree life.
She loved creating this sweet story for them. And the pupa especially loved the part where they called each other “Darling”.
Yet as always, she had to end the story. The pupa couldnt wait to see them personally then look at how the next chapter of their story would unfold in real life. And so, she excitedly broke out of her shell and finally became a stunning— blue butterfly.
However, she was only heartbroken at what she saw afterwards.
She saw how the blind man woke up, tried to touch the one who was once his wife and -wished, that he’d hear her call him “Darling” again. Until, the Lotus Flower woke up and only called him “Dijun”. Then after only a few minutes from waking up, the lotus flower also helplessly watched the man be engulfed by the pain from his poison again.
But the butterfly knew, it wasnt just the poison that made him cough blood. It was also from the pain he got — from facing his reality.
The butterfly also saw the lotus flower cut her own heart in half —just to stop the blind man’s pain. She saw how the Lotus Flower only got weaker day by day— after she took 8 thunders for her selfish sister despite her already weak body. The butterfly, also painstakingly saw how the the poor woman cried herself to sleep every night thinking about how the blind man— did not recognize her.
But the butterfly knew, it wasnt just all that —which made her suffer. It was also his betrayal.
In the end, the butterfly also wished. Wished that at that time, she didnt come out of her shell just to see them.
And wished that she never had to end their illusion —their happy ever after.

But I dont think this would be a sad ending either. Only because I trust in the fact that YY and YD can overcome challenges as long as they have “mutual feelings” for each other.

Ying Yuan and Yan Dan's relationship in fact, already advanced to the next level during Episodes 4-6.
During the moments:
• Yan Dan shockingly admitted that she memorised all of Ying Yuan's Wei Qi strategies --instead of following her precious sister's advice;
• when Yan Dan only thought about watching stars with Ying Yuan as a reward of winning --instead of her normal wish of getting transferred back to XuanXin Palace;
• when both started meeting in the middle of the night and did not mind each other's positions just to play Wei Qi --instead of doing their daily bickering and fights;
• when Ying Yuan anonymously assisted Yan Dan on her author antiques by giving comments on her book through sending letters;

...both parties are definitely but unknowingly, already attracted to each other. Yes, It may come off as sudden or slow for some since the drama "tried really hard" to not make it obvious.
Yet it was clear as day in my eyes and for me who has also experienced it,
that when they started smiling at the thought of each other (Yan Dan Ep6 and Ying Yuan Ep5),
both have finally broke the law and is undeniably-- "in love".
