I didn't realise it was the same writer. I actually think Iron Family could have been good if it was a shorter drama, but it's been a real slog to get through and I've watched every episode since about ep 25 at least 1.5x speed.

I will sometimes watch things I'm not enjoying for two reasons: I'm stubborn and hate dropping stuff, and I also usually want to know if something can turn around, and then at the end the first, what you thought was shut half, actually makes a lot of sense, and you end up liking that part retroactively. If something is truly unbreakable though, I will drop it.

Thinking someone is a mid actor is not hateful. If not having achieved what he has means people aren't qualified to think he's bad, then not having achieved what he had means you're also not qualified to think he's good. Not all actors are for all people, and that's fine.

By the time you get to the end, there's a smaller number that are driving the narrative, so they would be the ones for me that I'd be disappointed if recast. It's like when Dylan Wang replaced Chen FeiYu in Ever Night. Neither were great actors at the time, but CFY managed to make that role his own, and WHD could not capture that. I dropped S2 at ep 10 because I just couldn't buy into the new portrayal.
