Oh please name another series in Korea with as decent as ths monster apocalyptic story( only better one is parasyte…
Firstly, I don't think seasons 2 and 3 are anywhere near decent. Second, why are you asking me to name other shows? I simply compared this to its source material, and it's pretty clear to me that it did not give it justice and stretched out the story with unnecessary and inferior plotlines. Other than parasyte and gyeongseong, this is pretty much the only high profile Korean monster show (that I know of at least), and while s1 was not bad and better than s1 of gyeongseong, s2 and s3 are near unwatchable by my standards.
I'm still amazed at how they took such a well made webtoon, shoe-horned some unnecessary characters, threw the premise to a side and turned it into a generic monster show with such a half-a55ed storyline 🤦♂️

No problem. I'll say 85-90? I'm not that sure about some of the more complicated vocabulary especially those police procedural terms/internet lingo stuff, and I shortened some of the online comments onscreen or just didn't translate them (because there's so many lmao). But the overall meaning should be fine.
Hey guys, I've made english subs for this movie. Unfortunately I could only find a video file with chinese subs so they are overlapping but still readable. Translation might not be 100% accurate but they should be good enough. Links below
From where I'm looking, most (if not all ) of the problems with this show stem from the weak script and/or direction.…
I realized I tend to agree with your analyses. Your second paragraph put into words my main issue that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Come to think of it, things like ML being able to walk around like nobody's business after openly killing a bunch of soldiers, were kinda funny. At that point I was already accustomed to the fact that most things weren't even making sense. It's not a well-crafted story at all.
Your point of it becoming a waiting game is also very true. Reveals were made too early and were already predictable enough before they were made. When the climax (confrontation between FL and her mom) finally happened, it didn't hit at all. I can forgive some of a show's faults when it manages to stimulate my emotions. After all, k-dramas specialize in tugging at viewers' heartstrings with the most nonsensical situations. But this one didn't do it, not even once. The show was overestimating itself. (Nice that you mentioned WHJ. I almost forgot he even appeared at all.)
Finished it but didn't feel very invested throughout. Something about it felt insincere and unconvincing, like the writers didn't put their heart into it. I couldn't feel a connection with the 2 main characters. Their actions sometimes felt odd and didn't seem to align with their motivations (or lack thereof, for the ML). Their relationship was also built on such a weak foundation (he suddenly fell in love after meeting her like once, really?) that no amount of romantic shots/music could make it believable. I was even becoming more interested in Lady Maeda than the leads' romance, which wasn't a good sign, to say the least.
Apart from that, the action/thriller aspect also fell flat. Often characters would have long and slow conversations when they're in critical situations, almost as if they knew of their own plot armor. Did the makers not envision how it would disrupt the suspense to translate those scenes from the script to the screen? Because it didn't seem like they did. At some point you even stop feeling nervous for the main characters because you can tell they'll escape anyway.
And then in part 2, it was like logic was thrown out of the window and things were randomly happening for no good reason. The FL made erratic decisions that seemed out of character, just to put herself in danger I suppose? I didn't realize there was a season 2 to be released, so the questionable ending caught me off guard. I probably won't be tuning in though (unless there are very good reviews, I guess).
Is there a lot of rage for this show? Why do I get the impression that there isn't much buzz for it compared to…
I did notice that in some comments here. I wonder why some people spend hours hate watching something they didn't like from the start. I like giving both praise and criticism to shows I watch, but when I like nothing about it, I'll just drop it and not come back.
Honestly I don't get the rage about this show. It is a fairly straight forward by-the-numbers seachange drama…
Is there a lot of rage for this show? Why do I get the impression that there isn't much buzz for it compared to My Demon (which I am personally not a fan of)? Granted it has a very hallmark plot, this one at least keeps me engaged and has more room for thinking imo. I agree with your analysis and I think the show has a lot of unexpectedly deep-rooted tensions and heavy subjects under its kind-of cheery tone. It's reaching a turning point, but I'm not sure how they will resolve all of these issues in just 4 episodes.
someone said it right in the comments few weeks back- this is a 40-50 eps family drama made into a 16 ep format…
Well, not really. Most long family dramas I've seen are much more over the top, usually involving toxic chaebol families (there is one here but it's a very small subplot) and siblings' rivalry over inheritance or a company, characters plotting to kill each other, long lost children, babies switched at birth etc. This show is much more subtle in comparison. The oldest sister's story is also an uncommon twist on the classic poor girl marries into chaebol family plot.
After completing the available 12 episodes, I'm writing out a bunch of my thoughts here. I think it's a nice watch with genuine emotion, but maybe there's a bit too much suspension of disbelief required to fully enjoy it. Like the theme park thing. While that is a nice gesture of the ex-husband and comes from good intentions, the idea of stationing a whole park in the town just to stop someone from going diving, is quite incredulous and unconvincing. What's more unbelievable is that eldest sis is actually going along with the plan. I thought she was staunchly boycotting everything related to AS Group, and now she's helping them out? I guess she's that desperate and out of ideas. There's some conflict of interests in the haenyo group as well.
But I am hopeful that all of this doesn't need to happen because FL's mom will come to her senses soon. In episode 12, she said that she's going to protect her daughters and needed to deal with herself first. I'll take that as a sign that she finally realizes she needs to 1) stop condoning the actions of ML's dad towards her and her family, and 2) fix her own stubbornness about diving despite her health condition. Because how is she going to protect them if she's putting herself at risk of dying all the time, right?
Also, I'm confused as to how ML seemed so genuinely clueless about his dad initiating their breakup. Did he not happen to witness his dad's hostility towards FL's entire family all these years, not just the mom? Because otherwise it wouldn't be hard to put two and two together, no?
Imo, the youngest sis' romance subplot is maybe an unneeded aspect of the show because of such a lack of screentime. Her love interest in question is a clumsy, sweet environmentalist who shares an interest in dolphins with her daughter. That's all we know about him. There are 4 episodes left and they barely even know each other. I think I will prefer them to just remain friends.
On the other hand, while Sangdo comes across as a self-centred and frustrating character, I want to see proper closure for his character as he is evidently the way he is due to his circumstances since childhood. He is also, clearly, not a bad person at heart. And the closure needs to come from FL herself, yet she has been oblivious this whole time. I want to see how it happens in the next ep.
Yes, maybe a bit naive; my impression was she got where she was because she was genuinely good at what she did…
Haha, actually the show on a whole is pretty idealistic. It's going the route of letting karma take its course for the assistant, but some viewers seem to be getting impatient. And like you said, there is some truth to what it shows. People silently still want her for her skills, they're just covering their ass for now and waiting for people to forget the scandal. She has actual value in the industry and is still sought after.
I like the messages of this show. Good people deserve to be loved and protected. Something that you built on your own merits will not crumble so easily. Wishful/unrealistic or not, we need shows like this in this bitter world.
Idk about y'all, but I think we need more people like the FL in real life. She thoroughly reflects upon herself first before completely judging the assistant, and considers that she might have unintentionally hurt her. If more people were that considerate and self-observant, the world would be a better place. But at the same time, her character is way too naive for her own good. She didn't even seem to realize that her "connections" were just people who got close to her because of her status. It's quite unrealistic that someone so innocent could climb to the top of the social ladder in the first place.
