On A Splendid Match Jun 9, 2026
Just finished it. Started really well. Everything just right for a 9.5/10. However, the last episodes... what where the screenwriter and director thinking? It's like they dumped a wrecking ball on it. And it's not only this one. Other great dramas were also wrecked. Is this some new trend for Chinese dramas?

Started promising but then spiraled downward out of control. Story became silly and boring, several actors (including FL) were terrible. The fairytale-like direction when FL decided to become CEO was at least laughable. Anyway. What had a good opportunity was wasted.

Nope Pomegranate character was so good. No Fangs of fortune was not considering the female leads characters. They…
When I refer to Fangs of Fortune I think about the whole story, not specific characters. Veil of Fortune became too boring in the second part. FoF did a much better job keeping the pace and me interested. And that Pomegranate gave me headaches. I had to fast forward to keep going.

Imagine you put slice of life, romance, humor, tragedy, identity crisis, etc. in a blender.
It's all over the place. They even tried to put a triangle but it was really lame. FL had some mother issues and some of the crazy stuff only explained in the end. Just watch with your brain off. It's not so bad if you overlook the too crazy stuff.

Something poorly blended, with stale chunks, some tasty chunks, but that gives a bad overall taste, like the cook did not know what he was doing.

Then buy a subscription in tencent or in Disney+
Tencent needs to review its channel management strategy. I dropped my subscription on YouTube and surely many more also did, and I don't think they went to its app, as I did not.

Then buy a subscription in tencent or in Disney+
Viki picks several Tencent content and hopefully this will be one of them.

I dropped Tencent for what they have been doing on its YouTube channel and disney is a no-go for me. Not worth giving my money for this. If later they expand to Viki or Netflix I'll watch.

Is this more of a slice of life or romance drama?

This drama started so well, then took a nosedive. That portion where they brought in that Pomegranate character was simply unbearable. After that it became a drag. Almost at the end now, after taking breaks. Not sure they can still salvage it. Pity, had a great potential. Fang of Fortune is way better.

They indeed screwed up the end. Not sure they waned to male it funny, sparkle some romance, or what. The writer…
I ended up going back on Netflix and also lowered from two thumbs to one thumb. The final could had been a lot better than that mess.

Title Affinity
Just finished it and what I liked most was the soundtrack. The story started really well, the acting good and the production in general very good. However, by the middle, it seems that it hit a perfect storm of lack of budget, identity crisis and the director not knowing exactly what was expected by the screenwriter. Some new actors seemed like people they pulled from the street, the story went batshit crazy and the main leads got very confused. I liked this drama in general but the second part made me lower my score to 7/10. It could have been a lot better.

It started well and ended, from my point of view, terribly. I don't know why I didn't quit it sooner, but oh well,…
They indeed screwed up the end. Not sure they waned to male it funny, sparkle some romance, or what. The writer and director seem to have got lost. But it was very entertaining nonetheless. A lot more than other Korean dramas with higher budget and higher ratings.

Honestly, it's not a masterpiece, but at least it deserved an 8, people on this site are very bitter.
Agree. For what it proposes, it's an eight in ten.

...with one's finger on the ff button.
It's not that bad. The few bad parts were luckily brief and I did not have to use FF.

Lighthearted and easy to binge watch. Overall acting was good and the production did a great job. The end was a bit forced with the way the "good guys" won and some conclusions, but this isn't a story to be watched with the brain on; therefore, it's good to pass the time. Difficult to go wrong with this one.

It reminds me of "Hotel de Luna". Same story and setting
True. I started this one and, so far, Hotel del Luna has a better story, at least for me. This one has some "stale" moments.
