as an Austen fan myself, i agree with this 100%! ❣❣
as a dilraba fan how do u compare it to long ballad? tbh i couldnt get into it i watched like 7-8 episodes and FL seems hell bent on revenge even when she's working with shitheads who were loyal to her POS father. So I dropped, worth watching?
i tried to watch this drama maybe 4-5 years ago and it was around the time when i first started watching dramas.…
lol what kind of logic is that you recs seem good but u have angsty overrated crap like LAR rated at 10. Ming lan is slow burn if someone doesn't like the genre they shouldnt watch a 70 episode historical drama. It's a masterpiece if it were made in the west it would be a massive hit.
The Sword and The Brocade, Perfect match, Blossoms in Adversity, New life begins.
Lol perfect match is to ming lan what tap water is to champagne garbage rec tbh. Blossoms in adversity is great, new life begins is nothing like ming lan
I’m halfway through the second part, and maybe it gets worse like everyone says — but the first part was incredible. I genuinely loved it. That said, it’s still a tier below Story of Ming Lan, which is the GOAT historical C-drama centered on women — honestly one of the best in general. Watching this just makes me appreciate Ming Lan even more.
Zhao Lusi is excellent, but Zhao Liying is on another level when it comes to historical dramas — a true generational talent. In my opinion, only Wu Jinyan really compares in that genre.
I’m not saying this show is worse overall — just reflecting on both while I’m watching. But that first part? Easily a 9.5/10.
Gorgeous, she was only 16-17 while filming love like the galaxy? Wow, she did look mature unlike other Chinese actresses who usually look younger than they are, not a bad thing, just saying. I think she would be v good as a lead in a modern C drama
well I liked neither Hidden Love nor First Frost. But I thoroughly enjoyed this drama.
I mentioned both bcos they're by the same author, hidden love was ok for me a bit childish, first frost is my all time favorite romance show ever across all languages except the grandpa bs.
2/3rds into the show and have to say the actor playing Pei Zhen is great lol. Was funny in A Dream of Splendor, nice to see him in a different setup. Hope he gets more roles.
Very realistic and healing drama, i mean both the leads are rich so that's there but other than that it's very mellowed down and the emotions are realistic, like meet yourself (another masterpiece). Deducting half a star because it's too much into the pvc sector or whatever it is. OST is amazing, leads are amazing I am still not sure who was better FL or ML. But yeah, worth a watch if you know your expectations, don't go in expecting a first frost or hidden love.
This was so good, I liked it way more than LOFTG and I liked that show too. Ryan Cheng absolutely nailed his role, his best i have seen till now. People find 1-20 boring but idc I loved the romance between the characters and the mix of wuxia+fantasy. The last arc seemed a little weird but the plot points were tied up perfectly with a perfect ending. 10/10
lol comparing this to my boss should be a crime. Don't get me wrong i found my boss fun to watch but it was just…
my boss had nothing new basically, people who want instant gratification might find FF "slow" which is bs, the same people would say the godfather was slow too. Good things take time to build up. Only slight on FF is the 2nd ML's grandpa angle a lot of it was not even in novel, i would suggest u fast forward 2x on those or skip it altogether and you'll miss nothing. Like I said in another comment above, this is the best romance drama ever made //not teen girly cute love types but actual real life trauma, healing and unconditional love.
Zhao Lusi is excellent, but Zhao Liying is on another level when it comes to historical dramas — a true generational talent. In my opinion, only Wu Jinyan really compares in that genre.
