This is the first Cdrama I've watched where the FL has a normal voice, and where the FL uses real facial expressions instead of a pasted-on blinky blinky doll-faced smile. For once, I could relate to a FL. She's marvellous.
I love how friendships and romances are represented here, the give and take, the protect and hide behind, the brave and the idiotic parts of all our relationships. Hats off to the writers for creating such nuanced characters that the friendships feel real to the viewer.
As a woman who fell in love with her 5-years younger BFF (and later married him after watching him go through some relationships while simultaneously healing from my own heartbreak), let me just say that the main romance in this series was spot-on. The "I'm too old" parts resonated with me, as well as the times she didn't take him seriously even though he was absolutely serious in his intentions. The openness of the ML was sweet, and while some commenters seem to be put off by his clinginess or whatever, I have to say that it really does work that way IRL -- or it did in my case, anyway.
This is the only Cdrama I've watched that has made me laugh in every episode, even if it was only the flashbacks to their childhood. The toy-throwing at the gate made me laugh/cry, and by that point we've learned a lot about the childhood friendship and so it seems very real and tragic and adorable.
If you're looking for bashful FL and a lot of doe-eyed fluttery purity, move along to another drama. Some of the opening gags in this one (the first sleepover) had me in stitches, and they're pretty racy compared to anything else I've seen from China. What a treat!
I'm watching Crash Course right now and every time she's on screen I can't stop watching her face. She's beautiful -- and she looks like RM's sister! Her character is great in CCFR too, the kind of friend I always hoped I'd have.
Highly recommend Thirty But Seventeen (Still 17 on NF) then. Such a heartwarming drama which is also ripping your…
Meet Yourself is a gorgeous C-drama that moves at a slow pace, has a lot of small town/nature footage, and features my favourite slow-burn romance between working adults. It feels so natural and calm, and the male lead stole my heart. The female lead's acting is spot-on, and the chemistry between the entire cast is fantastic. It's a pour-yourself-some-tea-and-cuddle-up-with-a-blanket C-drama. Very worth it.
I don't know how I should be feeling right now that this has ended š. I want to talk about this drama so much…
This was a lovely series and I agree about the appeal of a routine, quiet life. If you're interested in a calming slice-of-life drama, look for "Meet Yourself" (China). "Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha" (Korea) had some of the same feeling. Happy viewing!
The first episode was amusing because of Lin Yi, who is cute as a button. Halfway through the second episode, I was not only hooked on the series but fangirling over Xu Lu, who I haven't seen before. I'm on episode 7 now and this is the funniest, cutest, sweetest story. My heart has skipped a beat several times and I think I'm probably an episode away from doing a happy cry. I don't know what else is in store, but this is a very promising start. I'm giving it a 9/10 for now and can't wait to see what's next!
ETA: The dorm room in episode six. I couldn't BREATHE, y'all.
I've tried three times in the last handful of months to get through even the first episode of this. I love the two lead actors, and I had hoped that I could carry through on their behalf alone, but honestly the storyline presented in the first episode just threw me off in every way. I've dropped it again (made it 10+ minutes past the previous time! go me!) and I'll probably try again in a few months.
If you haven't fallen for him by the end of episode 8 of Meet Yourself, your heart may be made of stone. He's the perfect blend of masculine and goofy-puppy, with hilarious facial reactions to oddness happening around him. This is the first time I've seen his work, and I'm not only impressed, I might be slightly obsessed.
I watched When I Fly Towards You (https://mydramalist.com/62295-luo-yao-knew-what-he-meant) right after this and…
Another sweet, fluffy, zero-triangle (thank god) show is Hidden Love. I adore all three of them I've recommended. They feel like medicine for the heart.
to all the people who have an issue with the age gap..... look at couples these days, 5 years shouldn't be that…
I agree. I'm five years older than my husband. We met when he was 19 and I was 24! Five years is **nothing** as long as you act properly until both are consenting adults. The sad truth, however, is that for women at least, we so regularly get creepy treatment from guys 5+ years older than us before we're ready for relationships. It can cause a sort of overreaction, because we're so sensitive to it and always have our guard up.
can anyone recommend a kdrama or cdrama that is like this drama for me? I can't move onn
I watched When I Fly Towards You (https://mydramalist.com/62295-luo-yao-knew-what-he-meant) right after this and it helped me work through it. Maybe it will help you too. WIFTY has *zero* drama in it, it's just a cozy youth drama but it was therapeutic while I attempted to stop daydreaming about Choi Woo Shik.
I'm not done with the series yet but I had to come here to post one thing: "I'll let you have my final minute. I don't need it." ššš I just can't deal with him. I'm going to be a mess by the end of the series.
āBe Melodramaticā is inspired! What a hilarious, heartwarming, and real story. It contains some of the funniest dialogue and situations Iāve seen. Thank you for working so hard on it!

His character in āBe Melodramaticā made me laugh so often. His portrayal is just perfect. Iād seen him before in āStrangerā and āMr. Sunshine,ā where heād done a great job, but his work on āBe Melodramaticā gave me a new appreciation for him and his acting range. I didnāt realize he could be so funny!
Iām watching him in Chief of Staff and Iām impressed by his acting. His microexpressions are incredible; he has portrayed the confusion, innocence, determination, and sadness of the character so well in each scene.
The "we're breaking up because we're too daft to have an honest conversation" trope. I literally yell "GET THERAPY!" at the screen when this happens. She was *NOT* burning your diary, she was on fire but you stormed out before taking a second look or even asking, "Hey, whatcha doin' there?"
Despite the low rating it has, I would say itās WORTH watching. The villainsā acting is so good and real,…
The villain creeped me out all the way through. It's a horrific scenario and the actor played it so well. Nearly every time he was onscreen, I was whispering, "No no no."
I'd watch a whole spinoff of the Baek Tak gang trying to live a reformed life with the monk as their spiritual guide. The baptism/cleansing scene cracked me up. "Shut it. Let's eat. It's free" collapsed me.
