this drama is just chef kiss. The characters and their complexities, the incredible OST and cinematography. The…
I think this is a realistic portrayal of two damaged people learning how to love and share life with one another. There are a *lot* of mistakes that go into learning how to love someone properly when you're 100% emotionally healthy. Imagine the challenges both of these characters must face when learning. The only thing about their relationship that seems a little off to me is probably the result of editing/cuts of them talking about their future. I think in real relationships, no matter how healthy or unhealthy, there is an element of future-building, where you sort of plan things together. That wasn't really shown, so it doesn't quite ring true for me as presented in the drama.
Ml is so handsome! This is my 2nd c drama that I really liked besides Hidden Love! Ml here when he smiles swoon!…
I first came across actor Li Xian in 'Meet Yourself' and was smitten. SMITTEN. I like him just as much in this series, although this character is a bit thornier and not quite as easy to understand initially. I couldn't get past the first few episodes of 'Go Go Squid' (I had a problem with the lead female character), so I don't know how others perceive him. I just think he's the bee's knees. His smile undoes me.
I think it's important to remember that in the first season of I-Land, four of the boys who were eliminated went on to form the core group of Hybe's Japanese boy group &Team. If you didn't follow up on that, search YT for &Audition to see how it played out and how &Team was formed. I can see why each of this core four (K, Taki, Nicolas, and EJ) were chosen by Bang PD and the other producers for the Japanese group, and the extra year of training between I-Land and the start of &Audition served the boys well.
Therefore, I have NO doubt the leading producer for I-Land 2 is looking at all of the girls with the same idea in mind. It's been about two years since &Team debuted and it's time for Hybe to put a girl group in their Japanese lineup. So don't lose heart if your faves are struggling or have been eliminated already. There's still hope!
p.s. I-Land's eliminated contestants are almost all doing pretty well: Hanbin is now in Tempest, Daniel is a soloist, Geanu and Jimin are in Just B, Kyungmin is in 8Turn, Jaboem is now composing for a couple of groups, and Yoonwon (who withdrew because of a leg injury) is in training again. Elimination is *not* the end of the road.
I totally agree with you. The comment section can get fierceeee. 😂 But same. I liked her okay in the beginning,…
MNet did this to K in the first I-Land, though, so don't get too set on disliking her. They're giving the same treatment to Jungeun, but to a lesser degree. One thing the editors attempt to do is draw out a narrative to keep us invested, and unfortunately that means they sometimes decide to "evil edit" a contestant. I really hate it and feel for both girls. They're talented and pretty, with strong personalities that help them face trials. They're both admirable.
I'm on episode 2 and can only ask if this drama was edited by children. The pacing is all over the place, with unbalanced cut scenes and one of the most distracting sound direction I've ever seen. That last point is especially grating, since this is about a VO actress: sound quality should have been a top priority. Side characters are... eh? Not entirely sure what the problem is but the only sparks I can imagine are them setting things on fire just to cackle at the flames. It's too early to say if Riley's character improves, but so far he's not doing much more than serving as a handsome coat rack. Lu Si seems to be carrying the entire thing so far, and while I really do admire her, even her skills can't compensate for all of the above.
I'm going to have to drop it, and I'm sad about that.
I'm watching Romance on the Farm right now and even though her character is rather unlikeable, she has a charming face and she seems very funny. When her character is retelling some story, she adds all sorts of little sound effects that I find hilarious, especially when it has some kind of violent action (like drawing a sword). This is my first time seeing her, and I'm enjoying her performance so far. I plan to watch a few other of her roles now.
He's adorable as Ken in My Lonely Planet. His character is charming, playful, and a solid friend. He carries the role well. I hope we see more of him in the coming years.
I just started watching this and I have to say, first time I saw a realistic 'falling into your arms' trope. Very…
I watched that scene three times in a row because it was so funny. I was weeping with laughter! It's just brilliant and completely took down what I hate so much about that trop. When he bonks his head, and then when the slipper falls, I lose my mind laughing.
Despite the high rating, I don't think I can watch it considering how much I despise his other character, Fu Pei.…
I had the exact same reaction. It took me months to finally watch it. And... I loved it. He's such a good actor, truly, and it was from watching this that I could see how he "built" Fu Pei onscreen. This show was a delightfully cute and sweet story and it helped eradicate my lingering distaste for Fu Pei. I went back to watch PYHOMS a few weeks ago and watched Fu Pei like a hawk, but all I could really see this time was what a fantastic actor TXT is!
*tiny scream* He just popped up on Everyone Loves Me and I rushed over here to post in my excitement. (I hadn't read the cast list because I like these types of surprises, so I wasn't expecting it at all.) He's such a great supporting actor, nearly stole the entire show in 'Love is Sweet'. I want to see him play a kind but protective big brother type instead of a sidekick!
Reply 1988 is so heartwarming and it also has the benefit of owning the only kiss scene in K/Cdrama that made me gasp and cry like a fangirl. My heart was beating SO FAST. I'm over 50 and it got me!
Tan Song's fantasies in ep 8 are killing me. I've woken up the whole house while laughing. I already knew Tian Xi Wei was a comedic gem, but Marcus Li is just as funny in this show. This episode is brilliant -- I love them so much!
Bad soundtracks follow He Yu around like cats begging for scraps at a fish shop. This music is so painful and I'm not even through ep 1. Does it get better? Please tell me it gets better. I'm liking the setup so far, just the OST is 😧
Such a scene stealer. His facial expressions are often quite funny and sweet, and I can't stop watching him. I can't tell you how many times I had to rewind a few seconds in My Roommate is a Gumiho just to watch him deliver a line over and over. I really liked his role in Start Up, too -- complete surprise!
