The issue isn’t a “dumb FL,” the issue is the inherent sexism with thinking interesting stories must centre around men. Women only exist to love or be loved, or to show how profound the love of men is.
I can’t understand the hate. I am SO excited. I’ve been crying since 2018 for a drama that encapsulates Fuheng’s last line to WYL: “I am so tired. I’ve spent this life taking care of you. In the next life, can you take care of me instead?” SOBBING RN ?

I SO agree with you. It’s rough out here. I don’t even need like a genius FL I just need one who is ....not a caricature of a woman LOL ugh not just Asian dramas but this is prevalent throughout fiction.
Rise of phoenixes I’ve been a little ... idk... like I think I tried 1-2 eps but generally if the FL isn’t a MAJOR focus (as in the true protagonist or an equal one to ML) then I’m not rlly into it. And Rise of Phoenix I’ve heard mixed things on that front - that even though she’s a good character she’s often in the background and the romance is very subtle too.
I could never get into 10 miles but I LOVVVVEDDDFDDDDD omfg LOVED pillow book (both the novel and show)
I have a few dramas I treasure but one historical one I always rec is Story of Yanxi Palace
honestly the summary says they live a decade together so I'm going to just pretend it's actually a good wholesome…
ended up dropping this after the first ep bc it wasn't for me v__v im p sure every drama I was looking forward to at that time has disappointed me lOL (princess silver, legend of phoenix, etc)
