This drama really is for the avoidant girlies who grew up in difficult households. Watching Sang Yan care for Yifan from a distance and giving her that space to deal with things while still making sure he's just within reach is really heartwarming. It's making me long for my own Sang Yan ☹️ their love story is so beautiful
I gotta say the first ep has such weird pacing😭 I had to check if I was actually watching ep 1 like 2 times.…
I agree that the first ep was done a little off, I feel like we should've been given more context before their reunion at the bar. It takes a couple episodes but it does get better imo
Just watched upto ep5 but I'm impressed with how smart Both the leads are, and it's even more entertaining to see when they're working against each other. The way Shao Cheng is truly just one step behind Ping An and her schemes and discovers them very quickly.
They definitely do it depending on the choice ratio and who the most popular contestant is. Like, if they made…
I hope so too. The most diverse people personality wise were Youjin and Theo. They need to mix in people with different careers, most of them this season were from the arts industry
I wish they'd make final chosing reverse - like the men stand and women chose them. S4 already, so maybe S5 can…
They definitely do it depending on the choice ratio and who the most popular contestant is. Like, if they made the men stand for this season, it's more anticlimactic for Sian because we know 3 men like her, but she was conflicted between 2 people for a long time. So her standing beside the person immediately would ruin the anticipation.
I think Jiyeon's inner frustration with Taehwan was a lot more entertaining than Sian's issues, because it's different. We've already had the 1 vs 3 love interest situation every season so it's not interesting anymore. I also think that scene of Jiyeon venting to Arin was one of the most interesting in the last 2 episodes. I wish the editors incorporated more of that, more gossipy or plain friendly moments between everyone. I know that's a bit ironic to say in a dating show where romance is the focus, but we honestly need more moments of friendship for it to be a good watch. Like look at how many people enjoyed Jeongsu & Youjin's paradise date.
I also wish Theo got more screentime. At first he was this very loud, extroverted and kinda cringey person. By the end we got like 5 seconds of screentime unless it had to do with Sian, and even then he was just quiet and calm. I wish the editors would stop putting ALL the focus on the romance. Youjin was my favorite girl this season, I think her bubbly personality carried the otherwise typical monotonous conversations.
I think this concept as a whole lacks the authentic feel that usual dating shows have when they have a cast of random people. This cast already has seen themselves onscreen so they know how to act, and have already gotten attention from being on their original season so the romance feels less real. Sure, the interactions may be genuine to an extent but their actions are undoubtedly going to be more intentional because they're more aware about how to present themselves onscreen. It's like if celebrities went on a dating show, it's going to be a little fake because they know what viewers are expecting.
Honestly Jeongsu was my least favorite this season, I disliked him so much that I wouldn't look at his face when he appeared onscreen (this is so silly i know) and skipped through his scenes even though i hate skipping and watching on 2x. But his date with Youjin changed my mind a lot. I like how he openly expressed that he wasn't interested in Youjin very early on and only chose her because she's fun to be around, and treated her respectfully the entire time. Even during their double date, where the person he likes was there, he didn't abandon Youjin and continued to have a great time with her. He still falls short romantically, with setting boundaries and expressing special interest, but he also seems to be a good respectful friend. Like Hyejin said, he's just nice to everyone, it's just something that backfires in romance.
Here's my thoughts on Theo. I don't think he's a doormat like some people call him, but I also don't "feel bad" for him just because Sian is leaning more towards other men. He's an actor, and it looks like he's trying to play it safe with the "one woman" act, but I honestly don't care if he's actually faking it for clout or not because he's fun to watch and he's not bothering anyone else.
He was interested in Sian, and that interest solidified after their paradise night together, enough that he only has eyes for her. But he's giving her space to explore other love interests and not giving pressure because it IS a dating show after all. I also think part of the reason is because he doesn't have very strong feelings, reasonably so because they've only known each other for a couple days. He was a little bothered with her going on dates with other men, but not overly jealous. His act is perfect, whether it's real or not. Compared to Jongwoo in s2, who also had a similar "one woman" act, I find Theo much better. Jongwoo had strong feelings for Seulki after barely interacting with her and set his eyes on her from the very start. At least Theo only made that choice after actually spending a night with Sian, whereas Jongwoo's attraction felt a lot more shallow. Anyway, I don't think Theo's taking this whole thing to heart much which is exactly how this dating show especially should be treated. They only have 10 days to get to know each other. He likes Sian, made it very clear yet remains respectful, flirts openly when they're alone, and understands Sian may prefer someone else.
After finishing the show, i have mixed feelings about the ending. I didn't particularly care about Seulki or Dex but i get why they were so popular. Seulki's choice was disappointing considering how clearly she had feelings for Dex but chose the guy who liked her instead? Even after Dex chose her. And the panelists rooting for Jongwoo was annoying too. I get he has this cute storyline of falling for her at first sight and never looking at any other girl from the beginning but why not root for two people who are actually interested in each other? I have similar feelings about the way people reacted to Soe and Yoongjae. She got very attached to a guy who she's known for two. days. I have to admit, she communicated her feelings amazingly, while Yoongjae fell short on that. But people bashing on him for first choosing Seoeun after one conversation instead of Soe or Sejong who he's talked to longer makes no sense because he didn't decide where he felt the connection? It's better he followed his heart and chose someone he most liked. Same thing with him choosing Nadine to avoid Soe. His intentions were clear, even if his communication with rejecting someone fell short. I'm afraid I can't empathise with people who develop such strong feelings for someone they've known for a couple days. I also think Sejeong and Hanbin were done so dirty, are these people blind?
lol I just finished this season and yh I like how the friendship was stronger and the cooking scenes are so nice…
same! i think how well the friendship becomes ties into what makes a dating show so enjoyable, and it's nice to see everyone get along here even with the clashing love interests
the pros of rewatching is that you get to skip all the boring military stuff and get straight to the good scenes 😁 i know some people already like to skip scenes on their first watch but it feels wrong to me
Started watching this while waiting for the next s4 episodes because weirdly I skipped over this season while they were airing, and I'm only on ep 2 but why is this already much better than s4. The lineup is much better (the girls look very different and have different vibes while the guys are all very handsome) and the format is good too. Breaking the ice by making them cook food together. Making them go to paradise immediately in s4 was a good twist but otherwise a bad idea. I also have a massive crush on Yoongjae, dare I say he's one of the best looking participants in korean dating shows ever
No one else seems to care about it but Minseol asking if the table was 7 meters gave me such an ick, idk how anyone could find that attractive. I like the rest of the girls though, but Youjin's behavior at the campfire clearly threw everyone off. Sian and Junseo are definitely the "main characters" this season and they deserve it, both seem to be lovely people so far. Jiyeon seems like the sweetest girl there, but she's a little more reserved so it's hard to tell. I could feel that Jeongsu was a bit of a player from the first episode, with how smooth and controlled he is with everything and how easily he decided to massage Sian's hand after one night together. Theo was honestly such a pleasant surprise, I thought he was just going to be weird initially but he actually is quite sincere and straightforward on the inside. I like Dongho too, his first introduction scene of him being awkwardly cute in the interview really left a strong impression.
I also wish Theo got more screentime. At first he was this very loud, extroverted and kinda cringey person. By the end we got like 5 seconds of screentime unless it had to do with Sian, and even then he was just quiet and calm. I wish the editors would stop putting ALL the focus on the romance.
