I feel like the casting made a misstep when casting Aesun's mother. The actress is great no doubt, but she looks visibly old, and they literally state the character died at 29 years old. The whole story behind her death was that she died young due to smoking and being a Haenyeo.
I also think the visible contrast would've been great in the scene of episode 8, where Aesun spends her last night at her mother's house and her mother visits her again in a dream. But this time Aesun is middle aged, older than her mother will ever be. She would have spoken to her still-29 year old mother, who she has now outgrown. That contrast of the daughter outgrowing the mother would have been painfully beautiful.
Oh how is it?? I might watch it for Bai Lu, but wasnt sure
It's decent so far! The parents have equal screentime to the kids so it can get a little boring at times, really depends on what kind of genre you like. It's very much a family-based slice of life drama like reply 1988
I'm watching the cdrama 'Northward' along with this since both are currently airing, but it's interesting how both dramas coincidentally also have a couple themes in common: - both reference the Dragon Water King - both stories are heavily tied in with water - both have female leads that get bullied by elders for being born a woman
If you guys dnt mind, can you tell what the trauma she went thru? I want to be mentally prepared before i start…
Male relative ("uncle") attempted to sexually assault her many times, including opening the lock of her locked room when no one was in the house. Other men also tried sexually assaulting her when she was in a shared apartment. She was basically abandoned by her mother after her father died, the mother ran off to live with her new family while she was forced to live with relatives that verbally and physically abused her. A boss at her old job also inappropriately touched her but spread lies to make it seem like she started the affair, which made all her coworkers mistreat her
Definitely, I prefer the dynamics in tff's love story more than hidden love's. HL has the cute "brother's best friend" age gap romance, while the first frost is built on pining and a more mature kind of love
I don't comment much on MDL anymore because over the last few years since I joined I learned how bad and sometimes…
I think the mom's punishment is no longer having her firstborn in her life and her husband cheating on her. Yifan saw how lonely the mom was in their final meeting, and she still chose to break things off. That woman is going to be miserable for the rest of her life
aaaaaaa i dont think i can finish this with QiQi in it huhu and im not loving that the main is inlove with someone…
Considering there are other characters in the same drama who still like their crush after finding out they like someone else, it's safe to say he didn't like her that much in the first place because he lost interest immediately compared to other people. And yes, it's a 30 episode drama so 7 or whatever episodes is barely much
I actually ended up liking Qiqi again during the time she was dating Song Cong. I honestly think her character was underdeveloped during the high school years, they didn't spend enough time focusing on her family issues and almost all of her screentime was about her crush on Song Cong. So her friendship with Huan'er never felt that strong or genuine in the first place. But her relationship issues with Song Cong brought out her actual identity, who she is and who she wants to be. She was no longer this constantly jealous side character that had some tension with her mom. It's refreshing to see a couple that gets together, realises they aren't compatible, and breaks up with no chance of getting back together. Some people just aren't meant to be.
You can't blame her too much, given her home situation, Friendship with FL was the only source of joy in her life,…
I felt the same way too. They were barely acquainted when Huaner invited Qiqi to the tuition group, and she only joined to get close to Song Cong. We barely had any scenes of them having fun purely as friends and strengthening their friendship-- in most of them Qiqi had an underlying reason to get closer to Cong. So it's hard to understand her in that aspect, but i'll just take it as her being a realistic character with irregularities & imperfections 🤷♀️
Actually after checking out TFF recently I think he fits his role here way more and it comes off more naturally!…
Definitely! His little mannerisms and behavior in general is so naturally done here it doesn't even feel like he's acting. But I still can't believe he's the same person playing Xiang Lang in TFF
Honestly I was a little skeptical about if Zhai Xiaowen could play such a silly character like Qichi after seeing his completely different role in The First Frost, but I couldn't have been more wrong. He's so naturally hilarious, I underestimated his skills lol
He was quite annoying in the scene at the apartment but it served its purpose. Other than that, I see him as someone…
Exactly! He's making her reflect about her feelings for Sang Yan, so he's more of a plot device to push the both of them together. I'm sure once Yifan directly rejects him or she gets together with Sang Yan he'll back off or fade more into the background
MCY is annoying but the way he's constantly bugging Yifan has become a little unrealistic to the point he as a person doesn't even feel real to me? Like i get the writer is using him to make Yifan reflect on her feelings for Sang Yan and Chengyun's stories about Sang Yan in university also helps bridge that gap between the leads so somehow that helps me dislike him less...? Idk
