I think he's quite an interesting character. At least he has something he wants to achieve. I don't think there's…
Yes thank you! His character was so complex it made the drama more interesting for me. He was burdened with vengeances from the past generation. Because of all the lost he experienced in his childhood he knew in order to protect the people he love he has to rule the world first. My regret is that the author made his love story one-sided. While he loved XY romantically, she only saw him as an older brother/cousin. That made my heart ache for him even more. In episode 35, the scene where he stand under the snow with a coat in his arm and a little smile on his face, while the ost played in the bg as he was waiting for XY to return was so touching to me.
Tbh, I've been super confused as to why people are acting like they'd be dating any of them in real life 🤣🤣…
“That's what is great about fiction though is that you can pretend/overlook things you would not/should not tolerate in real life.”
Omg thank you for this comment! I’m so tired of people mixing fiction and real life together and get upset because a character is not morally acceptable. I personally like to watch complex character like CX. And while I do root for him the MOST in this drama, that is not a person I EVER want to encounter in real life.
I end up giving this drama better rating because of CX. I love it when the main lead is a villain and yet somehow we’re still rooting for him. I might be the only one here that hope he end up with the girl and yes even after I read season 2 spoilers.
I watched this while it was airing. It has been awhile and I still come back to this page from time to time. This drama really left a memorable impression on me.
Thank you for this. I’m on episode 9 and was really hoping for some romance soon but now I can drop it.
I love Starry Love! Also, I don’t always watch drama for their love story but this drama poster kinda make it seems like it and I was set on a love story plus everything has been really boring so far.
I can’t believe this is my 3rd Chen Xingxu drama within 1 week after falling in love with his acting in Starry…
I’m at episode 15 but I’m having a hard time pushing myself to finish this one. While I also enjoyed CXX’s acting here but the story is shallow and a little boring for my taste. And all the fake background setting is really taking away my focus from everything else.
I’m like you in regards to Republican era dramas. I can’t believe I’m going to watch my first for CXX.
Did you end up giving this a try? After Starry Love I wasn’t ready to say bye to CXX so I watched him in Goodbye my princess. He was phenomenal in it but the storyline was so so. I only finished it because of him.
I usually have really bad second male lead syndrome but the SML in still drama is annoying as hell and I’m ready…
Episode 43 now and the ONLY reason why I didn’t drop this drama is because of Chen Xing Xu’s acting. He’s one of those actor that you hold on to every facial expressions. The female lead is also good but her character is not that interesting. This “love story” doesn’t make sense to me. I don’t know why they are attracted to each other and through out all these episodes I’m still not convinced that there are any feelings there.
