I finally watched this drama many years later after it was aired -- partly b/c I first saw clips of it on FB. After watching this and the TV drama special of it (a TV show looking back at the drama itself and almost all the cast members were present) -- I realize that this drama is more than just a drama. Ppl may complain why there's not this or that. But you got to understand that this drama was supposed to depict as real as possible what schools in S. Korea was like. Cause the director wanted to bring out the truth that S.K schools struggle - what students/teachers/parents all really struggle in real life. Yes, it may be acting & all - but the story was told in as much truth - related to reality as much as possible. Yes, schools in any country has school voilence/bullying/parents that have unrealistic expectations of their kids/students struggling to live/survive/dream, etc. So, when I watched this -- I can sense how truly close it was to reality. It brought me tears where it supposed to have in it and all the actions that happened (by the actors/actresses portraying their characters) -- really resonates well with me too. This drama also reminded me of the Japanese drama series -- Gokusen 1-3 plus Gokusen Movie too. Both this one and Gokusen shows how the homeroom teacher of each of the schools never gave up on their students despite their students' difficulties -- backgrounds, etc. Both series also inspires/encourages me to be the teacher that should be there for their students no matter what -- to encourage them, support them, love them unconditionally, etc too. So, in many ways thank you to the director for producing such dramas as these and to all the cast members of this drama - thank you to y'all too. Good job! Well done! You all did well! Fighting!
If you're a big fan of romance dramas, then I would recommend sticking with this and not skipping any scenes,…
Thanks for the info too about this part too! I have been a bit lost in watching this drama at times. Thankfully I am still watching it. Just getting confused about the 2 main characters and some of the supporting characters.
yes it seems that way -- but if you pay attention to the very last second -- where the "pendulum balls" are swinging continuously --- it felt like a cliffhanger than an actual complete ending --> is it real for them all or are they in a game?
I'm a bit confused too. the pendulum balls...mean they were in the game the whole time...?
Actually I feel exactly the same thing too - @Tina12345678 and @catastrophicQueen -- the super very last second of the final episode -- 36 where the "pendulum balls" were still swinging non-stop...have me wondering at they in the game still or is it truly the actual reality of them all gathered at the table over a meal? I think the director did that on purpose -- to let us think if it's real or virtual reality. If there was an extra episode of them getting married or something more -- that allow us to have complete closure - then we'd know if it was a game or reality from it. But there isn't any --- and so it's up to us viewers to guess the truth behind the "pendulum balls" continuous swinging. I noticed it too when I watched the last part two times...still no idea what is real or fake.
This drama thus far (based on what I've watch so far with Eng subs) -- it has me on a major roller coaster...as many said -- what the synopsis of the drama is completely not what one is expected to see only...it is a drama full of many plot twists that makes you long for the next episode to come -- wow...you would think it would go one way and then it throws you into another direction and would catch you off guard. I love all the main leads (the Y4 Lover Boys) + the 2 main FLs...they matched very well...as well as the others who support them along the way/that they can trust. You can say it does have romance -- but that's not the main focus of the story...as when you start -- from the beginning to where I have stopped right now at ep 33...it has got me super on the edge throughout the whole drama. So, if you are looking for some unique storyline, give this drama a try...I guarantee you won't regret watch it!
After watching the last 3 episodes -- wow...these 3 episodes are full of plot twists/roller coaster rides I can't even believe it!! But I made it through and so glad that I watched it till the end! Surprises after surprises... a bit shocked by it all. Anyhow do take time to enjoy the ride!
After finishing watching this drama - I love to give it a 9.5 to 10 points. Why? Because this not only delivered in romance/bromance side of things...but it also includes friendships, family and co-worker relationships - ones that work and one that doesn't. As well, there are a lot of life lessons learnt in this drama - esp about the editor not giving up on their writers from beginning to end -- that this relationship too in the publishing world -- must last for a very long, long time. As Chu Li said in the drama many times "As long as I'm working as an editor, I will never give up on any author. That's why I became an editor in the first place." She demonstrated this many times over and over again throughout the drama -- while many of the other editors either gave up or ignore the writer's true feelings/passion for writing stories in the first place. Not only is "trust" important in this story but also "respect" must be given to everyone and not be taken for granted. From being an author, to being an editor, to being a director to being a good son/daughter/father/mother to elders too and long time friends too. Respect is something that we need to truly understand and grasp in any shape or form. Without it, things will spiral out of control. So, I really appreciated that this drama took the effort to show that many times. Anyways, if you want to watch something different - this one is definitely worth watching for sure. OSTs, acting, etc deserves a round of applause! Great job everyone!
I am super confused thus far watching this drama .... I have putted off watching this for a long time...and only saw clips of it before on FB...then I am up to ep 18 --- and still confused of the past for Si Feng...is he good or bad??? I am glad he fell in love with Xuan Ji at the beginning real fast.
As for Xuan Ji -- I know she lost her 6 senses...and that's God of War thus far with all the flashbacks...plus the sword...and slowly gaining them back. But kinda too slow for me... which makes me feel like yelling at her to hurry up so she can truly realize that Si Feng truly loves her and can reciprocate it back to him soon -- so that there will be less misunderstandings b/w the 2 of them.
Obviously, I hate Hao Chen aka Dijun -- he's definitely not a good person at all...more like a selfish person/manipulative one...plus jealousy too.
And the rest...no comment. Si Feng's spiritual pet turn human is super annoying and selfish too. Kinda drives me crazy when I see her whining a lot whenver Xuan Ji is near Si Feng. Either way...I'm still gonna try to finish this drama -- but at the moment -- it's too slow and a bit annoying & driving me crazy -- wanna start skipping thru the drama itself a lot.
Hmmm although I hate what's happening, it's kinda more realistic and professional of the authors to do what they're…
I completely agree with you! Those 2 - Liang and Miao are totally selfish and garbage -- they think they deserve all the rights as an upper management staff --- when in fact they are the source of all the problems in Yan Yue. They should literally be kicked out of the company -- cause they're the useless ones. Whereas Chu Li is so much smarter and take cares of everyone's feelings/expectations, and whatnot. That's how she ended up signing - Zhou Chan, Jiang Yu Chen and Suo Heng. Cause she knows how to respect that author's hard work in writing a book each time before it gets published, etc. She doesn't manipulate them -- she encourages them and prove to each author that they can do well despite the past troubles/struggles they had with the books that didn't sell well. She should be the main editor and take over those 2 spots with director Yu.
I was adamantly hoping Gi Bai Zhi and Jiang Yu Chen never get back together even though they have lingering feelings…
I hope he better not go back to GBZ -- b/c I have a feeling she will "use" him again for her own gain in the company she's working at -- esp the other guy in her company demanding that she sign all his upcoming book rights... she doesn't deserve it. Seriously Jiang Yu Chen should consider other ppl who has better sense than she does -- like Chu Li (main FL). He deserves someone who truly understands him & cares for him -- someone who will encourage him just like Chu Li did during those times she encouraged him to have the book of his get published. Chu Li is the better editor than GBZ - in terms of respect, etc.
I agree -- it's should be a higher rating!! It deserves it. It's really a fresh story in my perspective and all the actors/actresses are doing a good job.
